You know as much as I am pro-Waystones I would not mind the Border Princes. It is close enough that we can get help and stay in touch socially, it will help K8P and the empire both, and unlike Silvania it does not feel like retreading old ground. So in the spirit of encouraging the empire building I like most, and planning the colleges and jobs of unhatched chickens here are my suggestions for advisors in a hypothetical Magical Princess Orc Crusher Quest:

Martial:

Stewardship:

Intrigue:

Learning:

Piety:
we dont do that here.
There's already an underling management system in the quest that IMO is working fine, I don't see a reason to switch over to some new system.
I explicitly began this quest as an examination and deconstruction of that structure. I'm not going to heave all of that overboard and start playing it completely straight.
we might get Advisors, but we aren't getting the standed break down like that.

What the hells do they worship in the Border Princes? Besides the actual hells I mean. Ranald is probably quite popular with how important luck is to seeing another day. So I would think a spellcasting priest of his would not be too much to ask. Hey maybe we manage to enshrine the protector now that we have our own realm to do it in.
the sothern gods, sigmar and the lady mostly.

e.g every major policy that's made an attempt at taking it all.

In this case, I'm using it to measure just how important each job is. Which is why Mandred Bodyguard is starting to feel less enticing to me. Turning down Pacify Sylvania and Cross-Species Waystone Research in order to slightly increase the security of a five year old, that sounds like the sort of thing that would confuse the hell out of a lot of people.

A slight increase of the security of the currently only heir is a big deal, and one that a lot of her peers and high level friends will understand the value of, and it is only really a 10 to 20 year commitment. Not to mention the tutor role is also important, and having a wizard in that role is a big deal.

If Sylvania stays a quagmire for a generation, it is not a big deal the way the difference between a good and bad heir to the throne.

That said, if you care about what other people think, ambassador at large is something that just about all in world opinions would approve of due to her near unique connection and level of respect there (perhaps the best since Sigmar), but it has not really captured the threads imagination.

I may have missed the conversation about it, but why isn't Naggarythe a more popular choice here?

It's only a 3ish month commitment (let's say 4 with travel), and it potentially gives us contacts that can help with basically all other missions (especially the runestone research if cards are played correctly), almost certainly a sizable jump in our combat skills, and plenty of research paper material. What's not to love?

We can go do that, and then come back to pick one of these multi-year options later. They might not all still be available, but the runestone research certainly will be, and that seems to be the clear favorite atm.

Going to go for waystones because I like elves, but I do want to know more about done of these-

[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland

[X] Border Princess of the Howling River

[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town

Because this vote is for about what to get more information about, not what to actually do, and we already have all information we're going to get about naggarythe. It's one of the ones only in the vote for reference purposes, as stated in the OOC italices in the update itself.

This:
This vote is for which possibilities Mathilde will investigate. No commitment is being made here, the results of this vote will be the roles Mathilde looks further into, so vote for whatever ones you are interested in. Some of the possibilities are marked [-]. This signifies there's not really anything to investigate, but they're still listed here for reference purposes. You can still vote for them if you really want to and if someone votes for them by accident, it's not a problem. Don't take the results of this vote as an ironclad indication of what the thread's interested in - being curious enough to want to find out more is not the same as being interested enough to dedicate the next swathe of the quest to it.

The fact that it's a 10-20 year commitment is another reason why I'm leery of it, not a point in its favor. Mathilde is kinda in the prime of her life. I also think the value of pacifying Sylvania is a lot higher than you give it credit for, and I definitely think that Mathilde's involvement would contribute far more to that than Mandred, who has a lot of bodyguards and tutors already.

Either way, I'm glad we will probably be getting the finer details on both options, which should give a clearer idea of all of these topics in case I'm not reading it correctly.

[X] The Waystone Project
[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town
[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland
[X] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor
[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred

So, having done a hypothetical an an option I don't dislike I thought I would do one on my preferred option too, though this time with more questions. Which wizards do you guys think we can hire on to the Waystone Project? For that matter which do we want? Someone like Hubert does not seem that interested in lore and esoterica.

Panoramia springs to mind of course but she already has a day job. Maybe we can keep Max and Johann, though to tell the truth I have more hopes for the former over the latter. Adela has an interest in engineering which we can hardly assuage with this. Gretel maybe... I mean she is not what I would call a scholar. I think we may need to hire on new wizards for a new project and let the ducklings fly their own way.

"I want to teach and protect my godson." is a completely reasonable motivation and task for Mathilde to pursue. I certainly can't imagine any of our friends having a problem with it. I cannot stress enough how prestiegous 'imperial tutor' is as a job title either. Everyone would be very understanding, even supportive, of that choice.

(that said its actually near the bottom of my own preferences)
