We've been with Dwarves for years, i think it's time for a change.

I was thinking along the lines of Mathilde already being a category of her own among the Dwarves. So I thought it might be possible to make a deal with Belegar where he is able to say "I will send my Mathilde to help you with that", similar to how Karaz-a-Karak send "a Kragg" (and a helicopter) to aid in the reconquest of K8P and that wasn't considered a minor thing.

If the answer is still no then that reduces it in my priority list both when it comes to investigating it and when it and the actual job offer.
Whether he can convince the rest of the Order to go along with it and whether they'd find any success in doing so are very far from being guaranteed.
Oh I didn't mean it as a reason not to do it. If anything if/after we take the job we should help Ruprecht Jr in convincing his order to make it a joint venture. In fact that would allow us to make this not a lifetime assignment if we ever get bored with it and want to do something new.
Absolutely not. I'm not giving the thread the benefit of the doubt until people stop treating thread tumult as an inevitable force of nature that only the QM is to blame for.
They're still doing that? How many of them? I thought that has stopped months ago, but to be fair I've been mostly skimming and flying over thread comments. If you are choosing what seem suboptimal ways of running things to you due to a vocal minority that would make me really sad.

Like, sure, some salt during impactful and complicated votes is inevitable, but blaming you for it is like blaming the organizer of a major soccer league for the hooligans in the streets. Awesome stories kindle emotions and emotions can be volatile. That doesn't mean one should be less awesome.
My impression is that this is ultimately about writing time. BoneyM doesn't want to write up a bunch of detailed thoughts on what jobs might involve if the quest thread isn't all that interested in that particular job. If every single job gets 100+ votes, maybe he writes them all, presumably broken out over a few updates. If an option can't get 10 votes to investigate, why bother?
Well, if an option consistently loses out to other stuff until the "now choose" deadline comes around, akin to how it worked before we had the choice between the various positions in Belegar's Council, then there's truly no reason to write it. But judging from how broadly he was willing to go before people started flaming over romance candidates and some people thought it made sense to blame him for it, it isn't an intrinsic dislike for taking things slow and giving detailed descriptions for stuff that might not come up again for a long time (like the Karak Hirn debacle) that stops him from taking that route here.
Note that even if Hedi wants to use us for something else we will at least have to do enough toddler minding to offer cover which to my mind at least is still too much toddler minding.
He's not quite a toddler anymore. He was articulate enough to ape court etiquette a couple of years ago if I remember correctly.
So we will be teaching him how to count apples and how to spell instead of potty train.

Hyperbole aside five years old may not be as boring as a literal toddler, but they are still not the sort of people you explain the complexities of politics or the mysteries of the universe to.
That will almost definitely not be a part of our job. Our job will be to teach him things like morals and religion under the guise of teaching him to defend himself and about the politics and enemies of the Empire.

Seven years is 14 turns. Consider the span of real life time that has past in the last 14 turns of this quest. Turn 19 is titled The Rebirth of Karak Eight Peaks for reference. 14 turns is our entire carrier in Belegar's service.
Except the job description is likely not actually what we'd end up doing and I think you're being a bit too literal without even asking Heidi to elaborate on what we'd actually be doing.

That might actually be an argument for the job. For the first several years, Mathilde might well have more freedom to pursue other projects, such as the Elfication. Let's see the details first. This is not a vote to lock in Mathilde's future career, but a vote to check what certain jobs demand of us.

To be perfectly honest having the prince be the first one to learn stories of another elven kingdom aside from the one that visitors usually see would make our educational credentials quite exciting. When we finalize that we could help imperial and high elven relationship if we go to the tutor route.

[X] Spymaster of Wissenland

[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred

These are the two I want I've honestly grown bored of being around the dwarves' and I would like to return to our roots of being a spymaster for one of the provinces or as the tutor and guard of not!Karl-Franz to see how we can shape him up. I think the one's I'm least interested in doing is being the governor-general of that far flung place it'd take us too far from all our friends and I don't really want to do that.

These are the ones I am most interested in, and in particular want to find out the finer details of.

I already know that the big vote later on is going to seriously hurt me, regardless of the result, because of the incredible opportunity cost of every offer we didn't take. Which is a very First World Problem for Mathilde to have, she's drowning in amazing offers that could each benefit the entire civilized world in different ways.

Gonna edit it in a moment.

As for Marksgraf... Honestly, it's because it covers an entire rogue province, which we will have to pacify, fix and then fashion into a proper, loyal and tax-paying one. That seems like a lot of work, and most of it will probably be a standard Crusader Kings kind of deal, with economy and politics, court intrigue and occassionally responding to a military threat, and province-wide improvements to increase numbers by a fraction- fraction- fraction- FrACtION--
I dont think Boney does Standard CK2 style.

I think we will be doing what Van hal was doing.

1: every so often we give out jobs.

2: we have a number of activities that mathy can do herself. (like now)

and we have to choose between doing our own stuff, checking up on someone to see if they are doing what we asked/trusting them to do their job, or dealing with some event that is happening.

its the same as now, but instead of 'task' actions, we will have 'spy on/help council' actions. and its up to us if we put the min or max AP into it.

A) When they're heir to what amounts to a king, and potentially the next emperor, yes you do begin explaining the complexities of politics to them.
B) Mathilde won't be explaining such things to him. For starters, she doesn't know the complexities of politics.

Heidi is not an idiot. If she's looking to hire an assassination specialist, with particular knowledge of both vampires and skaven, who can literally see when people lie she's not doing it so they can be a tutor.

Lahmians want Mandred dead. Any Skaven aware of his existence (and that's likely quite a few - Skaven aren't blind to the Empire) want Mandred dead, because the Empire has just breached the Conspiracy of Silence and he's named after Mandred the Skavenslayer. Many rival elector counts would be happy if Mandred were to die. Mathilde's job in Mandred's childhood will, to the extent that it involves Mandred at all, be to keep him alive.

On the topic of becoming an Edgelord (I'm not gonna stop giggling at that), IIRC, there's canon/fanon that the Jades are doing a many year/multi decade project of cleansing the land of it's dhar taint.

Is that something we might be able to start up? I wonder if we can commission some sort of rechargeable (non-anvil) runes that can burn the taint out of areas?

Personally I'd prefer to go by the escription rather than wishful thinking. And even if it does go beyond the description imperial Court intrigue I something I don't consider to be worth our time with all the other issues in the world.
