I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

I bet it's something that requires a runesmith to make on top of being a good normal smith. I would not be surprised if adamant was used to make at least one of the tools needed to make chain.

That's true, the way that Grungni stated the bolded part seems to say that a few others had figured it out? Hmm, now that I'm reading it again it's honestly hard to say.

I mean, if Thungni and Smednir haven't been able to figure it out, there is no chance in hell that Snorri will be able to. Smednir is the patron of metalworking and gromril is Thungni's metal. It's not like that we don't have evidence of them working together, Smednir taught Thungni how to craft tools and they created Gal Baraz and the other runic works.

Hmm, I'll say it again, but I could be reading that wrong. Grungni mentioned that he had given gromril chains out before. He might be saying the figuring out part in the future tense?
 
I'm not doing it because I want to save favor with them, we only have 50. I'm pretty certain we can give them the best care without pulling the clerics in.

We voted to go all in, so we should go all in and leverage all resources we have awailable, including favours.
We can afford to burn 10 favors, just for the sake of thoroughness, and because doing so fits Snorri naratievly

Isn't building the Hold. This is properly supplying them with the material necessary to found a hold. Building a hold takes a lot more work than can be done in a single decade, no matter how much overflow you put into the first stages.
I would like to think that we are going to put our new found Gronti knowledge to use. Which will help with all the later stages.

Snorri swore an oath : "That I will do all in my power to aid in the building of your new Karak." Doubtless when she heard that Grimvala failed to comprehend, how could she? She doesn't know the stories or The Gift Giver, The Earth Mover. To her Snorri was Azrilgromthi a Vengryn, a warrior of great power but now we have a chance to show her the other side of Snorri, what he truly means when he say's he'll help:

Simple plan, Snorri does everything he canm physically to fulfill his oath this turn. Simultaneously he calls on Otrek to match his contributions, this aids the new hold further; helps build ties between Kraka Drakk and the new hold and relieves some of the burden placed on the royal family by their massive debt to Snorri. And the apprentices also help out, this is a good learning opportunity as well as a chance for them to forge ties that will be usefull when they leave Snorri next turn. For those worried about the Yorri request we still have 2 apprentice actions next turn to do that (apprentices leave after doing their actions next turn) but the experience helping the hold is only going to be available this turn.

(*New*)[X] Hold Founding: [Cost: 1 action, 1 retainer action] Locked in until end of turn 40. The political and technical finagling required to get an expedition equipped to form a Hold is one that requires a good deal of attention to make sure things get done properly. For the survivors of Dum this is an even greater necessity, as they quite literally suffered a near total collapse of their Guild and Clerical system after the betrayal. Apprentices will need proper Masters and the Dawi of Dum caught up to speed, and finding the right Dwarf for such a task is one of great effort indeed.
If this is locked in until the end of turn 40 that's a total of 9 turns not 8 like the vote said. (I literally counted this on my fingers like 3 times to be sure, even though I knew I was right)

Now to try and get 3 hours sleep before work tomorrow, damn you Soulcake keeping me up with an excellent quest!

We're at the point where there's just too many things to do to overflow every single action. This plan still provides two overflow via favor and starts rune metal progress again after 15 turns. We should be able to finish the chain part 1 next turn and even part 2 the turn after.

We can use both apples and pears for a fruit salad, but have fewer pears, so why shouldn't we only use apples?
Because using those fewer pears would make for a better, more varied fruit salad.
Mind, that is just my opinion/attitude.

but the real question is will the overflow actually do anything considering considering the actual scope of the action?
