Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Does anyone *really* wanna go the subservient route though? Seems like an awkward scene all around.

Edit: Then again showing humility, foreshadowing important traits for the actual negotiations with a foreign polity... it's not the worst idea.

Edit2: Still not a big fan.
Its actually EASIER to diplomacy with a dragon when there is a large and clear gap in power. Heizui was a problem because we were so close in power at the time, and that is sending all kinds of threatening/challenging flags to him

I'm just more interested in this than in whatever quest or payment the big lizard is going to demand to let us pass.

I have a meta reason for going with the cold forest here (two actually):
  1. Getting first hand experience with the local spirits (and the south in general). Experience that can be later inspire music or introspection, both to develop and enrich LQ's own themes (FVM was based on a similar experience), and those of her spirits ("forest of those that endure", and "spirits of the hungry cold" fit Zhengui and Hanyi quite well).
  2. MoSS and the general thrust of becoming an accomplished spirit mediator means getting exposed to many different alien mindsets and being able to understand and negotiate all the same (see also: the theme of this diomatic arc).
BN took the words out of my mouth. Or, well, fingers.

With the exception of Dan, we're better equipped for the forest than for the Dragon, and where we're positioned to have a good chance of good things happening in the forest, I'm not prepared to bet on what a dragon's goodwill might look like.
Also, I support Blacknote's meta reasons.
As a partial note against this, however, note that the underworld journey might serve as a 'diplo miniboss stage'
