@DragonParadox

Anyone from the Shadow Council or associated with factions from there? We have long since made note of everyone relatively influential when we negotiated ACSEC access and other trade deals.

@DragonParadox Ensure Viserys takes note of them, because we're probably going to want to pay visits to them to see if they were infected or possessed.

I don't think anyone they sent would have defenses capable of keeping away anyone but someone of one of the Misfits caliber at best, so we could probably afford to let the Daemon do what it wanted to do if we are concerned about fucking up diplomatic relations, and there's no reason for the Daemon to do anything irreparable while in full sight of the city's elite. Most of these people can be replaced in one form or another, it's getting into someone actually important or their vicinity that matters.

@Goldfish If we're uber-concerned because the Void-Taint throws a wrench in that idea, we could also just infiltrate the party and wait for the Daemon to try to get one of these people alone. Then we have someone vaguely influential to corroborate our story... who is feeling unusually grateful.

Here we go, two plans to choose from, both with the same special buffing scheme for this fight.

[] Teleport and attack at once
-[] In addition to the standard pre-battle buffs (Battlemagic Perception, Resist Energy, True Seeing, Nine Lives, Scintillating Scales, etc.), the group will use the following spells and wards.
--[] After activating her Bead of Karma, Dany will cast Reached Chained Energy Immunity (Cold) spell on everyone and a Reached Chained Greater Spell Immunity using Inspired Spell on the group to render them Immune to the following spells: Disintegrate, Telekinesis, Wail of the Baneshee, Blasphemy, and Horrid Wilting. She casts Shield of Warding on Richard's shield.
--[] After activating his Bead of Karma, Malarys will cast a Reached Chained Life's Grace spell on the group.
--[] Viserys casts Nine Lives on Zherys and Richard (the two members of the group who cannot cast it upon themselves), then casts Legendary Proportions on Richard using Wild Arcana. He Blood Wishes a Battlemagic Perception spell on himself then heals the Charisma damage with his Orb of Mental Renewal.
--[] Zherys Blood Wishes a Battlemagic Perception spell on himself then heals the Charisma damage with Viserys' Orb of Mental Renewal. Immediately before engaging the Olethrodaemon, he casts True Casting followed by a Repulsion spell to prevent enemies from approaching within 50 feet of his location (caster level 27 to overcome SR).

[] Wait for midnight when the daemon is unlikely to be around other people

I just don't want to crash the party so this suits me.

[X] Plan Midnight, with Caveats
-[X] Viserys, Dany and Zherys will infiltrate the feast with the group ready to teleport to them when so notified through telepathic bond cast over the party.
--[X] Each will guard the two people within the Shadow Council's direct orbit from the (pun not intended) shadows. Zherys will watch over the colonial governor's niece. If someone attempts to get them alone or with minimal security, you will intervene. These are the most likely candidates for possession, etc.

Watch me be right. There's very little reason to try to take over/harm someone who lives in the city because you can just take your time and do whatever you need to outside of a gathering in a crowded, if large, enclosed space, when they least suspect it. But this might be the only window for it to grab those two people, as I assume they are just visiting.

This also works, can never be too prepared after all. I don't want to just crash the party, but if something that is going to be worse is going to happen its good to be ready for it.

Added in the Governor's niece, because it might actually be harder to get close to the Governor than we're giving them credit for. @DragonParadox, does he actually have somewhat impressive security? I imagine the Ibbenese aren't exactly poor, and we have been trading with them for years.

Do we have to do the socializing or care about pretenses?
The Daemon's the only real prize here, no?

Probably more the fact that if we jump in blow the Daemon up in the middle of that feast that might look slightly bad for us.

For all we know the guy being possessed will have just finished telling the party that the Ibbenese need to stand agains the dragon because he will kill them all before the trees. And then we port in and blow him up. Who's to say that there was actually a Daemon possesing him, maybe we made an illusion to cover assasinating someone trying to rally the Ibbenese against us etc etc.

I think Crake's vote is more about shadowing the party anyway just to make sure the Daemon doesn't do anything bad before our planned attack and then kill him if he tries, not going around hobknobbing with the partygoers.

Yep. Ibben represents a not inconsiderable amount of trade interest for us, and we want to eventually annex them. It would suck to have to messily sort out their situation if they end up infiltrated and void tainted later on because we decided to be extra incautious instead of being maximally paranoid and double and triple checking ourselves.

Bringing Ibben under the banner of the Imperium is a big goal, too. With that we'll have a lot of control over the Shivering Sea... barring the Deep Ones, but that's a beast for another day. Bothering with these politics ahead of time paves the way for annexation.

So how close do you guys think this thing will be to a standard Olethrodaemon? That int score is pretty low, so if we could buff up enough to be confident about beating its will save a maximized Body Harmonic could turn it into a particularly clever animal instead of a thinking opponent.

Triple Mask would let us send disposable constructs to deliver touch and close ranged spells to the guy, which means we can use things like Spellblight Jinx, Curse of Befouled Fortune, Corporeal Instability or Fleshworm Infestation relatively safely.

Silverlight would also be useful here, since at minimum it'll dazzle the guy, and if it's unlucky it'll get sickened too.

With that +20 NA Brittle skin would be great as well. +20 to any damage dealt to it isn't going to end the fight, but it's pretty valuable.

edit:

On the concerns about getting caught; if we can keep the fight to less than 10 minutes * Viserys maximum buffed CL then we can erase the whole thing viaDamnation of Memory. We'd have to make sure we caught everyone who saw us in the effect, but casting it via mythic power would let us skip the casting time issues which would make it easier to pull off.

Ok, as somone who have yet to read everything in the quest(im with viserys setting on stepstones) I have to ask....what happen to sarnor? why they rise and seen to go all tomb king on everyone asses?.

The Void cheats A LOT. Even a regular Olethrodaemon is CR 20 and I wouldnt be surprised of multiple templates or even mythic ranks.

Good thing we are upstanding people that would never dream to cheat.

Oh no wait, we regularly cheat everyone including gods. Yeah we gonna get dis done son!

Still that's why I don't want to just ambush it at the party, no way that would look good if half the block goes up.
