I'm with Azel on this one, although I'm unsure of what level of... Forthrightness is expected when raising these kind of concerns.

I don't see issue, in RL people overlook things or miss information since we can't prepare for everything no matter how smart. Why would it be any different in fiction?

@DragonParadox Tagging as it is relevant to the last page's comments.

Just don't be like me and weigh in criticism while you are distracted, tired and already frustrated because you are associating current events with ones preceding them, or in this case, lack thereof.

There was a lot I couldn't articulate about why the last update frustrated me, and it was mostly wrapped up around the information being conveyed poorly, rather than the substance being upsetting or the motive behind it.

By this point none of us assume bad faith, but there's a degree of ambiguity behind whether or not something is upsetting because it was an oversight (which frequently happen and can usually just be pointed out after sitting back and figuring out why something feels off) or if a fundamental difference of opinion and desires has essentially caused you to disagree with the current course being taken.

This is missing the point. If Harry Potter ended with Harry not looking before crossing the street and getting flattened by a lorry, that would also be realistic, but it would still be a craptastic ending.

There's a lot more going into a story then just consistent internal logic. You can have interesting and compelling stories with zero consistent logic. There are many well regarded works who rely on having no logic or constantly breaking their own logic.

So what do we do with our Shadow?

... do we eat it? It's not even in the top five weirdest things we've eaten...

Obviously Lya sews it back on with a bit of soulstuff, like Wendy did for Peter Pan. 🧐

Hopefully we can then absorb the XP that we lost when we traded it to the Orphne back in the day.

If not, it might serve as a nice base to finally grow a Viserys Simulacrum.

Think of all the paperwork we could get done... who am I kidding. We would just have two Viserys' sitting down doing paperwork...

So all the arguements boil down to, we can't wait for the full scope of the problem to be relived before we bitch about it.

And the interruption was due to bad rolls, which is the point of having randomness in a game, sometimes setbacks happen, don't blame the player (or the dm) blame the dice. The only way this can be prevented is to prevent rolls entirely.

So either vote to remove background roles or suck it up.

That's not really fair, @Crake and @Azel had totally valid complaints. DP does excellent work, but he isn't perfect. These brief arguments might be unpleasant in the moment, but they are undeniably productive in improving the quest as a whole, resulting in better writing, better characterization, better mechanics, etc. In here, I agree wholeheartedly. The presentation is very important. For things like this we need hints and foreshadowing. Is what we're facing a fluke, or are we uncovering something deeper?

I can see the point of what Azel and Crake are saying now, I however still see it as making a big to do over very minor issues, to each their own I suppose.

Tbh reading through the quest very recently this in the beginning just reminded me way too much of the nitpicking over minor quibbles that spawned so much frustration over nothing.

I am glad it quickly turned more constructive. DP isn't perfect but tbh he is so damn near to that I find it hard to complain.

If anything we need to make like 5 Alinors...
Viserys getting a second him is just begging DP to pull out, oh your copy just got stolen by Asmodeus he now controls Viserys mind body and soul....

Time for Dany to raid hell!

*squint*
Are you mocking me?

If so, carry on, I'm preeminently mockworthy.

Nope, just what I think would happen if we actually had two Viseryses. Also I suck at being subtle lol so if I were to be mocking you trust me you'd know for sure.

(Way I figure I need to be posting for at least 2 weeks before I can start mocking you :p )

DP and the rest of the thread, thank you for this fantastic trip of a quest. I mostly lurked in thread from leaving Braavos to sometime after the SD Tournament arc, when I decided to take a break from the quest. Last weekend, I was stuck in the hospital and decided to use my enforced downtime to catch up. (That wasn't easy, with DP's multiple updates per day speed.) The battle against the Golden Company and Tiamat's minions was epic and one of my favorite parts. It took me a bit to remember all of the minor characters we've recruited; the whole kingdom really is Viserys' hoard.

One day all of that rampant yoinking of characters is going to pay off. Nothing like having several dozen max level PCs on speed dial when you have to save the world.

It already has paid off, I'm sure of it. How many characters do we have scattered all over the world (and other planes) putting out fires on our behalf?
