I figured, but I think the affront to its dignity would almost be worth it.

@Goldfish would having Lya cast Spellscar around important targets as we SotD them be worth it? Unless I'm reading the spell incorrectly that would make our attack and their responses trigger primal magic events within the areas effected by the spell. The only thing better than a magical nuke is being forced to juggle another one to try and survive.
It's possible, though the range of that spell is problematic and would require Lya to get very close to the enemies when serious mojo and high damage attacks are being thrown around.

Right now, however, she's suffering from the effects of casting Celerity and won't be able to help in the next round of combat.

Bear in mind that this was one single failure, it didn't render all our attack useless. Viserys lost an action, the God did too.

It's really not worth litigating this. I messed up, I was not wholly sure of the call when I made it and the point about invalidating a feat you guys so rarely get to use and which was supposed to be absolute when you got it clinched ti for me. I was in the wrong and I owned up to it. Best to move on now.

Those being?

I'm having trouble parsing through what happened as a result of intervention now.
Basically, SotD was successfully cast because the hit wasn't able to disrupt Viserys' concentration. He still took a really hard hit and would have possibly been mindfucked if not for Mind Blanks.

And now we're responding with another SotD, except it's going to hit so much harder.

@Goldfish Almost all of our Darkenbeast riders are dead, along with a Mind Dragon. Just in case we have to retreat how about securing their bodies? The enemy god might pull something else from his ass domain, after all. Otherwise,

DP confirmed that their bodies were destroyed. That's not a problem when you're rich and can cast 9th level Divine spells, though. We'll restore them just as soon as we reasonably can, but not isn't the time for that.

There are 4 riders dead to death effects whose bodies should still be there. How well strapped in are the drakenbeast riders? If its pretty well the bodies might still be in the saddles.

Also, I don't think this counts as an opening salvo anymore

Oh yeah, the Death effects got that last bunch. I can't imagine that they wouldn't be strapped securely into their saddles. We don't hire incompetents, after all.

If the sound of explosions and spellfire have yet to fade, I still consider it part of the opening salvo! :cool2:!

EDIT: Fucking Kindle autocorrupt...

So, salt aside-

Do we want this permanenced on anyone?
It is equally as powerful as it is conspicuous and significantly body-altering.

Gimmie somefeedback, everyone.
Sorry, meant to comment on it this morning, but got sidetracked updating character sheets.

It's a really powerful effect, but it's also a really obvious one. I would much prefer using it as a Spell or from an item rather than locking someone into a Draconic appearance.

EDIT: Also, the bonuses are Enhancement typed, which don't stack with other Enhancement bonuses, like those in people attribute boosters.

Obviousness isn't as much of a problem in our Empire as it would be in most other places (actual diversity, yo! :V).
Really the only problematic aspect I see is, well, the person themselves not being into the body-change.

Who are the relevant candidates we have for it?
+2 CL is immense no matter the way you measure it.

It's a nice way to get a serious boost, if one doesn't mind the side-effects. I can see it becoming a semi-common practice in the Imperium among extremely wealthy mages who wish to show how Draconic they are.

It would also be a reasonable way to qualify for Dragonblood feats and spells, perhaps even to introduce a bit of Draconic heritage into an otherwise mundane bloodline.

  • [X] Plan Maximum Effort
-[X] Viserys casts Ancestral Awakening as a Swift Action to learn the Sudden Empower feat, then casts a Maximized Empowered Mythic Shadow of the Doom spell augmented using two Mythic Power (432 Searing Fire damage, plus 12 points of Ability Damage to Strength & Dexterity), targeting the eight remaining creatures and directing the remaining fourteen 20-foot cubes to target any enemy that looks important, especially priests, sorcerers, and commanders, along with other large war beasts (hereafter referred to as "important looking enemies" in the rest of the plan).
-[X] Malarys casts a Miracle spell to Dispel the black rain and unnatural clouds, potentially benefiting from his +4 bonus to Dispelling (for a caster level of 25th).
-[X] Tyene targets the largest group of important looking enemies with another Sunburst spell, Dany does the same using Inspired Spell, and Vee drops an Earthquake in the same area. They each use their Rings of Spell-Battle to Counterspell or Alter Fortune as they deem necessary, insuring the success of Viserys and Malarys' spells while hindering the enemies. Dany uses her Battlemagic Perception buff as a Free Action to Counterspell the most dangerous seeming spell immediately.
-[X] All 30 Heralds use their Fireball SLAs to target important looking enemies.
-[X] Benerro, Melisandre, and everyone else able to attack at long range are welcome to contribute as well, with whatever spells they feel most appropriate for slaying Undead monsters.
-[X] The Moonchasers, Wyverns, and Manticores each unleash a spread of Explosive Beetle Bombs (20d6 Piercing & Bludgeoning damage in a 40ft radius) targeting important looking enemies, along with a full salvo of Steam Cannon rounds (10d10+4 damage per shot).
--[X] The Moonchasers will use their Brilliant Barrier projectors and anyone else flying in the formation who has a Brilliant Barrier charm will activate them as Immediate Action to block the breath weapons used by the creatures, if they are within range to do so.
-[X] We will determine how to proceed depending on how many survive our next salvo.

He's not part of the peristomancy group, but I bet Zherys would be all over this.

Thinking about it guys I do not think I can write the next update today unfortunately.

Combat updates are really complicated especially ones with as many moving parts as this one. I don't want to risk a rush job when it's this late.
