@DragonParadox, are we allowed to get a vague idea of what items are up for auction OOC if it doesn't flow well IC? I was hoping we could figure out if there's one or two items we absolutely don't want to lose and we could plan accordingly over the course of the rest of the auction.
Holy crap, all of those look like they've got a lot of potential, and a couple of them could be amazing.Generally speaking the items on auction are presented in ascendant order of value. From what Viserys heard beforehand (and this list may not be complete or entirely accurate) there are also the following things:
- The grimoire of a noted and powerful occultist
- Notes on Cacodeamon anatomy, particularly how they forge soul gems
- Some sort of text on how sentience interacts with the soul penned by a noted golem-crafter
- An alchemical text, dealing with potions and poisons derived from emanations of the mind
- A collection of outsider memories under deep enchantment recalling the experience of being born, dying and reborn
well.A collection of outsider memories under deep enchantment recalling the experience of being born, dying and reborn
We absolutely have to get this one. This is a major tool in forging the Imperial Afterlife and making out own Outsiders.A collection of outsider memories under deep enchantment recalling the experience of being born, dying and reborn
Or at least set up an auto-reincarnation for our sworn ex-devils.We absolutely have to get this one. This is a major tool in forging the Imperial Afterlife and making out own Outsiders.
This one is also rather nice. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but I imagine it'd provide a general insight to construct crafting and possibly Flesh Forging as well. Some sort of text on how sentience interacts with the soul penned by a noted golem-crafter
Names of Fiends aside, probably pass.
Whoever wins the bid on this one, we could prolly offer to pay for a copy of the notes.Notes on Cacodeamon anatomy, particularly how they forge soul gems
Neat, but we already have our own soul-experts on hand at the level this is going to be outdated soon enough. Some sort of text on how sentience interacts with the soul penned by a noted golem-crafter
Maybe interesting stuff, especially against illithids. An alchemical text, dealing with potions and poisons derived from emanations of the mind
Can be a complete dud, or the literal golden goose.A collection of outsider memories under deep enchantment recalling the experience of being born, dying and reborn
#2, #3, and #5 could all be immensely helpful with different aspects of that. #1 could, too, though that's more of a crapshoot, since it might not contain the right kind of info.We absolutely have to get this one. This is a major tool in forging the Imperial Afterlife and making out own Outsiders.
It might also be of some philosphical value. This one is also rather nice. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but I imagine it'd provide a general insight to construct crafting and possibly Flesh Forging as well.
I think they have a soul. I don't see how resurrecting Anu would have worked in absence of that, us having to build him a new body aside. It might also be of some philosphical value.
Determining wether Anu and his Warforged have a soul or will get one is interesting in itself, beyond the practical uses.
It better not be a heist. I just want to buy things.
Why else would there be a sudden teleportation, plus invisibility, into a auction of all things? My moneys on a heist.I think they have a soul. I don't see how resurrecting Anu would have worked in absence of that, us having to build him a new body aside.

You're probably right. I just hope you're not right. Why else would there be a sudden teleportation, plus invisibility, into a auction of all things? My moneys on a heist.
For now I don't think there is much we can do beyond what @Crake's plan calls for. In our present company, doing more than calling attention to the potential intruders, such as beginning to cast offensive or additional defensive spells, might be misconstrued as an attack.
