@DragonParadox, are we allowed to get a vague idea of what items are up for auction OOC if it doesn't flow well IC? I was hoping we could figure out if there's one or two items we absolutely don't want to lose and we could plan accordingly over the course of the rest of the auction.

Generally speaking the items on auction are presented in ascendant order of value. From what Viserys heard beforehand (and this list may not be complete or entirely accurate) there are also the following things:
  1. The grimoire of a noted and powerful occultist
  2. Notes on Cacodeamon anatomy, particularly how they forge soul gems
  3. Some sort of text on how sentience interacts with the soul penned by a noted golem-crafter
  4. An alchemical text, dealing with potions and poisons derived from emanations of the mind
  5. A collection of outsider memories under deep enchantment recalling the experience of being born, dying and reborn

Damn, that item could be really good for Lya's research. Hopefully she'll be able to render it cruelty-free, assuming we get it.

Holy crap, all of those look like they've got a lot of potential, and a couple of them could be amazing.

The grimoire of a noted and powerful occultist
Names of Fiends aside, probably pass.
Notes on Cacodeamon anatomy, particularly how they forge soul gems
Whoever wins the bid on this one, we could prolly offer to pay for a copy of the notes.
Everyone hates Daemons, even soulgemming taken aside it won't look too suspicious to want to know how to hurt one most.
Otherwise, pass.
Some sort of text on how sentience interacts with the soul penned by a noted golem-crafter
Neat, but we already have our own soul-experts on hand at the level this is going to be outdated soon enough.
Pass.
An alchemical text, dealing with potions and poisons derived from emanations of the mind
Maybe interesting stuff, especially against illithids.
But not as shiny as the last item on the list.
Nor is all that useful overall.
Pass.

A collection of outsider memories under deep enchantment recalling the experience of being born, dying and reborn
Can be a complete dud, or the literal golden goose.
Gonna try for it

The thing is, I'm almost certain than one of more of these items are secretly goldmines of info, but we don't know which ones.
And the auction's presenting stuff likely gonna be subterfuging the fact for all they can.

Also, if we are to go for that last one, we really shouldn't overbid on the rest of the stuff.

Grabbing too much will get us unneeded attention...
Well, more of it, anyway.
The last bid is guaranteed to get us all of it anyway.

Do we have to go for it?
We agreed not to go for the shiniest stuff everyone important will be going for, didn't we?

I just really, really don't want to be confronted by anyone here. We are in a fuckhuge deathtrap if we are.

We absolutely have to get this one. This is a major tool in forging the Imperial Afterlife and making out own Outsiders.
#2, #3, and #5 could all be immensely helpful with different aspects of that. #1 could, too, though that's more of a crapshoot, since it might not contain the right kind of info.

This one is also rather nice. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but I imagine it'd provide a general insight to construct crafting and possibly Flesh Forging as well.
It might also be of some philosphical value.
Determining wether Anu and his Warforged have a soul or will get one is interesting in itself, beyond the practical uses.

People.
Please.
Temper the greed.

If we are going for the last one, then focus on it.
We can't grab all the things that look shiny, we are in the middle of the enemy territory here.

Almost everything on the list can be made obsolete by a dedicated research action, or is already this way because we have alternatives (see 4 varieties of mind-wiping effects/poisons we have).

The shiniest shit is full of heat, but we will definitely get over our heads if we try to grab much of the rest with it.

So, anyone got vote plan idea?
For now I don't think there is much we can do beyond what @Crake's plan calls for. In our present company, doing more than calling attention to the potential intruders, such as beginning to cast offensive or additional defensive spells, might be misconstrued as an attack.
