@Crake, mind adding this? Would potentially get us some results, if the poisoner is indeed a near-legendary master of the craft.

[] Also cast Vision (times as necessary) on the gathered poison -
-[] Where was it created?
-[] Who died by it before?
-[] Something IC, egoo is too sleepy but is pretty sure there are things to ask yet.

Also, @Goldfish, what's our top CL right now? Does it go up to the (25) specified as the ceiling for the spell?

@Crake, maybe Dany could use Inspired Spell to cast Soulseeker looking for the maid's soul while Viserys casts Retrocognition?

We can easily push it to 25 or higher, especially with Xor along. He can cast Harmonic Chorus on Viserys, who cancels a Moment of Greatness buff while using Wild Arcana to duplicate Vision. That would get us to a caster level of 26.

What questions to ask?

Can't we ask the stones about what they saw?

It is not like them telling us is warded from divination.
We sure can, I just doubt it'd tell us anything of significane.
This assassin doesn't seem the sort t go without a seeming, when they are even Mind-Blanked.
And the stones won't tell us anything beyond regular visuals.

Regular visuals might be allows us to know the race it is or is pretending to be.

This can't be a cheap assassin. If they were hired as part of Cersei's plotting, I wonder how she paid for their services? Could she actually have a large enough discretionary spending allowance to drop that kind of cash without Tywin's assistance?

Who do we know who's good at poisoning people? Addendum: Who would work for Cersei? :thonk:

Oh fuck, you think its Daemons?

King's Landing had no less than three cults recently.

I can easily believe Daemons working for Cersei out of a deep sense of kinship and shared spite, but the level of competence and discretion showed by the assassin, not to mention their expertise with tools and poisons, doesn't really point toward Daemons, IMO.

Is it the rogue faceless?
It could be, but the methods used so far don't really fit their normal MO.

I think it's going to end up being a Shaitan. If so, I expect they're working for something much more substantial than a bit of gold. Perhaps Cersei promised them a piece of Westeros?

Perhaps you meant Marid?
I was thinking Shaitan because we know the Lannisters have sent agents to the Opaline Vault, their is some sort of Plane of Earth connection beneath Casterly Rock, and Shaitan can easily move through earth and stone, just like our assassin. They're also the only source we know of for Thinaum. Normally it would take a much larger piece of the stuff to trap a soul, but that can probably be adjusted with the right kind of magic.

There are plenty of other options, of course, including a skilled Muggle with high end tools.

Actually, you think this is that one sorcerer we saw "Ser Tyler" meeting with?

Talk about blast from the relatively recent past.

@Goldfish I find it startling unlikely it is a Shaitan provocateur. That doesn't exclude some kind of Earth-aligned character with SLAs for moving through stone, but the motivation isn't there.

By contrast the Marid are more disunited and we have fewer connections there.

To be honest I have trouble seeing most Extraplanar people who aren't completely free agents, high level PCs, with good anti-divination gear, accepting a contract on anyone presumably loyal to us, nor do I think anyone that competent would not gather information about the ramifications of the contract they are undertaking before making any moves.

This is probably some fiend, or someone who's only assurance of protection comes from the Lannisters themselves (so short-sighted to long-term gains vs. short-or-long term risks).

Yeah, you're probably right. Sometimes my rampant speculation goes off on a wilder than normal tangent.

Poking in to say that we truly need that Flesh Forged mosquito which captures body samples so that we can scry and die them.
