... So how close are we to being wasted in one round by WBL-omancer's Bane?
Your info is slightly out of date. Viserys' Wisdom attribute has gotten boosted since then, so his base Will is now 25 instead of 24. Also, we got Dany a Lesser Metamagic Rod of Encouraging Spell which hasn't been added to her sheet yet, but will be soon (I got distracted making a sheet for Liomond Lashare or this would have been done already). That will let her boost her Mass Conviction spells used for Persistomancy from +5 to +6. Together, these will raise Viserys' base Will save to 37. It would also increase the bonus from using Moment of Great from an additional +5 to +6.Aye, that's the case.
And our on-demand will save at the moment is 125+1d6
So yeah, we can try to mind-battle an Elder Brain for 1-2 round now
Assuming Viserys failed the save or his Spell Resistance didn't block it entirely, it would definitely be a solid hit, since Viserys is under the effect of quite a lot of active spells. That spell shouldn't count toward effects generated by magic items, though.... So how close are we to being wasted in one round by WBL-omancer's Bane?
If you only count his persistent spells it's 63 damage on a successful save. Given the number of buffs he's under regularly I wouldn't be surprised if it got up high enough to drop him completely on a successful save if it gets through his SR. Even if it doesn't get quite that high I certainly wouldn't want to deal with that coming from a caster powerful enough to matter in a fight with Viserys. It's not like spamming a level two spell would be hard for someone like that. Hell, maybe that's how Tywin's planning to kill him. Half a dozen people just strong enough to have decent odds of breaching Viserys SR and a carefully timed ambush.Assuming Viserys failed the save or his Spell Resistance didn't block it entirely, it would definitely be a solid hit, since Viserys is under the effect of quite a lot of active spells. It's not a huge deal, and honestly you're right in that it's a bigger threat from other parties than it is from Tywin. He just came to mind because while our other enemies have plenty of ways to deal with us, he doesn't.Considering our recent run-in with that Worm Devil and the insidious implications... I will agree to any plan that might mitigate this small and semi-consequental problem.
But then again... it's Devils. Tywin, no matter how smart and cunning he is, is not able to level the field to the extent that the Scions of Nessus are capable of.
A level two spell is in his reach, and using money to solve the problem by teaching it to some mercenaries fits his style.
Eh, if Tywin could actually field enough powerful mages with the ability to cast hard enough for this tactic to feasible, he would be a much more significant threat in general. Just being able to cast a 2nd level spell isn't enough, considering how low the DC would be and the caster level vs Spell Resistance. If you only count his persistent spells it's 63 damage on a successful save. Magical Backlash only does 2 points of damage per spell level per active magical effect. His mages probably don't stack enough buffs to make this the most effective way to kill them to someone who can breach Viserys' SR, and it can't really hurt anything mundane . He also wouldn't be using his peasants since they're not strong enough to make the spell stick. He'd have to import his muscle for this to work out....
He's not that stupid as to arm a bunch of undisciplined and lack of moral restraint peasants with a bunch of spells that could personally raze his holdings and territories, right? Even a simple Prestidigitation spell is enough to cause some unneeded headaches.
Well, it's not as bad as giving them loads of Fireball Scrolls, but still ! ! !
He'd have to import his muscle for this to work out.
Any extraplanar mercenary that he brings on board for such a tactic isn't going to be significantly more dangerous to him with that spell than without it. The real trick would be to find someone Tywin would be willing to trust in his castle that he has no way to force into compliance. Maybe someone stupid or desperate enough to sign on Pact Parchment?
The companions must look so gaudy by this point. Even to mortals who get what they are and why he has them the gut reaction would still be based on a low magic upbringing. From that perspective their gear load outs make Tyroshi fashion look tastefully understated.Eh, if Tywin could actually field enough powerful mages with the ability to cast hard enough for this tactic to feasible, he would be a much more significant threat in general. Just because Tywin isn't a realistic vector for this threat doesn't mean someone else can't be, however, so I'm gonna add a bunch of slotless Lesser Spell Immunity (Magical Backlash) charms to the crafting schedule once I get back to my computer.
We're making 90%+ of all the stuff they wear. Rest assured, their outfits don't look anymore gaudy than they desire them to be. Tyene is a fashionista, so she's probably the one in charge of coordinating this stuff. The companions must look so gaudy by this point. It also doesn't hurt that most of them are wearing Glammered armor and everyone has Greater Ribbons of Disguise.
That makes it look well put together, but there's only so much you can do when everyone is wearing 3+ rings, anklets, necklaces, cloaks made of endlessly flowing gold coins, and the like. We're making 90%+ of all the stuff they wear. Yes, but most beings aren't capable of casting True Seeing or have it as an SLA. 99.9% of people are none the wiser.?
I was under the impression that anyone with an active True Sight is able to pierce through their illusions. Much like the Erinyes.
The people who matter, those who recognize this kinda of paraphernalia, are the ones who realize they're looking at someone who is probably ridiculously dangerous. It's like those brightly colored little tropical frogs which are super poisonous. Creatures know to stay away from those guys. That makes it look well put together, but there's only so much you can do when everyone is wearing 3+ rings, anklets, necklaces, cloaks made of endlessly flowing gold coins, and the like.
I'm not saying we should do anything about it, just enjoying the juxtaposition of perspectives. It's even better for none companions in some ways. Imagine a serious, down to earth and relatively frugal inquisitor looking down one day and realizing that he's wearing more gold and jewels than the Magister of the township he was born in. Might as well enjoy it while we can, people will get used to it soon enough on their own.Yes, but most beings aren't capable of casting True Seeing or have it as an SLA. 99.9% of people are none the wiser.

Those who don't understand what they're seeing aren't relevant nowadays.
That's not going to happen. If we don't deal with them they'll never leave, and we'll probably end up with hurt business prospects. This seems like it'd be best handled leaving them alone and waiting for them to get bored and go home.
