I'm back bitches! And coming home to a quarantine means plenty of time to binge through the last few months of posts. So let's get this Empire going!
On a related note note can someone explain why we didn't force the illithid rebellion to release all the people they had under enchanments? Most, if not all, of them were people from fiefs sworn to us and thus we should be obligated to protect them. I got to the part in Oldtown and expected more "Fire and Blood" less of the merchant exchange I read.
They wouldn't have agreed, and we don't have a way to force them to. We can't even attack them easily, because Mind Blank makes it hard to know if a group of Deep Ones is a valid target or not. We'd risk :
- starting a fight with the rebels, when we want to make use of them for now
- breaking the truce with the main group before we're ready
So Empire Day, that's the 9th of this month. Plenty enough time to plan celebrations and festivities.
So jousts and tourney's from the 3rd of the month for the next 6 days. A Sky Parade, our biggest adventure this year turned into a play, and the communal dinner by the evening.
Just as a note, I'll die on the hill of not making the Empire Day a long event.
We've had enough jousting and tourney'ing for a few more years OOC with the Tourney we had.
I say, background most of the stuff. We've seen it all anyway.
We only need to see the 9th, really. Don't be too stressed about it.
I say turn vote, then rumour mill, then Empire Day. Interludes on so and so about how our new territories react to it. Then we can ahead and mess with the Illithids all you like.

So the first point I understood and thought it worth the risk. The second however I had not thought of and is a significant deterrent. But what are we supposed to do about our people? Just say sorry the people that captures you are to useful you'll just have to suffer in slavery? Because make no mistake so long as they are held hostage and there freedom to do as they will is curtailed they are slaves and we are just looking aside and ignoring it.

As far as I'm concerned anyone captured by the Deep Ones is a lost cause. In extremely rare instances like Jeyne Weaver they'll leave enough of them intact to still be people to a certain degree, but those are far from the norm.
Anyway, welcome back, Mormont. Glad to see you're safe with all that's been going on.
Three minds converged with a familiar mental sigh, half-relief half-regret. Being able to spin shadows of herself to do the work of several sorceresses was more than mere convenience for Teana Strycos, it was freedom, though not of the usual sort. She smiled to herself at the notion that anyone could count reading reports with one pair of eyes and essays on third circle conjuration with the other could be counted freedom, but for her it was just that. Freedom was not about following one's whims, only the feckless and the foolish who had never known its lack thought that, it was about making a mark on one's fellows and on the world. A strange thought for a weaver of shadows to have perhaps, but then she knew better than most how shadows could outlast the things that made them.
"Almost a score full wizards ready to go out in the world and practice their craft, twenty-five dragon-blooded mages able to weave magics of like scope if not as flexible in their magics..." She smiled with what she considered pardonable as he gave her report to the King. "The rate of passage through the Trials has slowed slightly with the expansion, but that is simply due to the fact that as we expand we are not just taking on those ambitious and bold enough to come find us. Thinking about it, in the early days that would have been a trial in and of itself."

"You have been using divination to make changes not just to instructor placement but the curriculum also?" the King asked, sounding for once genuinely surprised, though pleasantly so.
"Within the limits of the discipline," Teana replied. "There is a small circle of mages from Tolos and Volantis who have as much of an affinity for numbers as Alinor does. I thought they might be interested in going into spell-crafting, but they proved more interested in wide scale long term divination. The field is still in its infancy with the access to trans-temporal communion, but signs as to its use have been promising. Simply being able to verify if a correlation between a set of parameters implies causation has allowed us to eliminate all manner of conscious and unconscious biases, though of course it breaks down into uncertainty eventually."
"There is Law in the world but there is also Chaos," the King nodded. A smile flashed over his features. "A fact for which we should all be grateful, for without Chaos there can be no choice."
"Wisdom Malarys would likely be less enthused about that particular pillar of the cosmos," the Headmistress of the Scholarum replied, feeling herself smiling ruefully in turn. "Speaking of Seers, I am pleased to inform you that two particular students have grown beyond the limits of the standard curriculum, though of course not primarily by any mortal agency."
"You make that sound so sinister," two girlish voices speaking in intentional near-harmony call out from the door. Reva and Liset drifted in, offering the expected elaborate greetings to the King. "Would you like to see what we can do, Your Grace? ...Or perhaps see what we can See?"
[] Write in character sheet for the twins (Level 5 Dream and Knowledge Domain spells added to the Druid spell list for them)
OOC: You guys can also decide where to assign them to next month, though they are not quite skilled enough at Level 5 to be counted as proper heroes.

They will do them next month, Bloodraven did not want them getting distracted with dragons before they got the basics of magic down (well basics for Greenseers, for most anyone else it's mastery).
Here's the 12th month Scholarium numbers in a different format, now showing the current students as well as how many we gained of each level and class compared to the 11th month.
Additional Info: The Scholarium now has 2,400 mages who have at least one class level, including 1,471 at 1st level, 516 at 2nd level, 225 at 3rd level, 76 at 4th level, 82 at 5th level, and 30 at 6th level.

Yep, and I've got 13 more crafters I can include on the 12th month crafting sheet, too. That'll help get some additional stuff made that I had to drop to squeeze in the Gem Table and anchors.
And look at all of those 5th and 6th level Sorcerers! 9 5th level and 14 6th level Combat Sorcerers, and 19 5th level and 11 6th level Enchanters.
That's awesome. 53 highly specialized Sorcerers that can easily slot into Inquisition operations, civil defense, Legion assignments, embassy staff, etc.
