This is great... but it doesn't fit with her OG themed spells, right?
Vee doesn't actually have a lot of OG themed spells. She mostly has lots of Summoning, travel magic, buffs, etc, with some light OG flavoring. Her Runestaff does have a lot of OG themed spells, though.

Greater Angelic Aspect is the best self-buff Vee can learn, IMO. It does a lot of good stuff.

For future exchanges with the Yi Tish with the intention to pressure them to go above and beyond to reciprocate:

1. Culture and lore of cities and kingdoms all across the Imperium
2. Plays and MirrorVIsion shows from the Imperium
3. Artwork from the Imperium (paintings, statues, tapestries, etc)
4. Folk Tales from the Imperium
5. Court Etiquette of the Imperium
6. Monster Lore of the Imperium (Dragons, Outsiders, Native Outsiders, Undead, Fey, Monstrous Humanoids, Aberrations)
7. Comprehensive history of Western Essos, Westeros, & Sothoryos (from the Serpentfolk)
8. Histories of the Genie Empires of the Elemental Planes
9. Lore of the Gods of the Imperium Pantheon To Be (nothing secret, mostly stuff that any priest would be willing to tell you)
10. Lore of the Dawn Age from the Westerosi perspective

In the next lore exchange when the Yi Tish bring out their big guns when they realize we've got good shit, this is the stuff we can dump on them.

Interlude DCCLI: Familiar Strangers
Familiar Strangers

Seventeenth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

Embassy of the Dragon Archon, Strangers' Street, Yin, Yi Ti

The tall, graceful but decidedly foreign silhouette of the Dragon Hall had risen among the shops and houses of Stranger's Street practically overnight, 'as though by magic' some whispered while eyeing the sorcerers robed in gold and emerald threads mistrustfully. Its columns of white marble and colorful mosaics were in a way more strange for the fact that they were not obviously magical like the little colorful dragons or the misshapen sky-beasts.

Unlike most of those who wandered by, eyes wide but never daring to approach too close, Hua Fen knew the building that now housed the trading expedition from the Dragon King actually had been raised by magic, but not by the magic of the travelers, strong as it may have been. The Heavenly Sovereign commanded shugenja who looked to the kami of earth and Wu Jen whose skills lay with wood and metal to have it all erected before the full expedition was cleared to disembark into the city. From what she had heard there had been a few officials dragging their feet to give the Blessed and Wise time to perform their duty, but by the eighth day it was done, offices fit for a provincial governor's holdings, large enough to comfortably house all the officers and notables of the trade fleet and even provided with gardens for the weary to wander through, steeling body and mind for the duties ahead.

The furnishings were thankfully more of a compromise between the manner of the far west and that of the Golden Empire. Fen privately thought that what her new allies counted 'chairs' were better suited to displaying craftsmanship than actually sitting on, you'd sooner drape yourself over a sculpture than try to sit in them comfortably. The staff was also of the Golden Empire, though Fen was aware that she would not have called them that a year ago, most from among foreign families settled for years in Yin.

Lost
200,000 IM (From Expedition Funds)

Gained
  1. Fully furnished and operational embassy in Yin
  2. Contacts among the bureaucracy and academic Wu Jen
  3. Permission to grow a Heart Tree with a sacrifice of magic
  4. Paper-making methods and paper mulberry seeds

Compared to the bull-men, talking ravens made of beaten metal and sea folk that were kin to kami they were very familiar indeed. Certainly enough like the folk she had known all her life to be overawed at the sight of a procession of silk robed scholars carrying ornate chests of cherry wood and ebony. Fen had been expecting to order documents today by subject and the type of script used so that the Herald of the Dragon would know how many scribes it would have to call upon for the task of rendering them into one of the tongues common in his realm. She had not expected a warning to get the knowledge on holy ground and under blessed wards as quickly as she could lest enemies of all that live steal them away.

  1. A comprehensive understanding of the shugenja
  2. Spirit Lore of Yi Ti
  3. Knowledge of Wu Jen Training methods and traditions
  4. Knowledge of the Shadowlands and the Bloodstone Emperor
  5. Shugenja developed method of hatching and taming Valyrian Dragons
  6. History of the Yellow Dynasty
  7. Ancient history of the Golden Empire
  8. Lore of the Bloodless Men
  9. A Comprehensive History of Leng including seals of introduction to the two states therein
  10. High Quality maps of the lands East of the Bone Mountains

"The books can be carried to Sorcerer's Deep within the hour," Zeriel the spirit-woman, who was her guard for the day, spoke unexpectedly in her mind. "Or a matter of moments if the message goes to the King himself."

For a moment Fen was tempted to have the warrior silently pass on the suggestion to do so. The young scholar had grown increasingly curious over the past few months as to what manner of man sent such strange and mighty envoys to the shores of the Golden Empire, but she shook off the thought. One does not disturb a king to carry scrolls like a common messenger. She was becoming increasingly convinced that she would have to satisfy that curiosity by traveling away herself. Far from taking her examination to prove herself to her father, but that ambition seemed so vary small, almost petty, looking back.

What else does the expedition attempt over the remainder of the month?

OOC: The vote feels a little disjointed from the update unfortunately, but I felt that Fen's voice worked better here than just handing it off to say Diana or one of the inquisitors.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox.

@DragonParadox, how much would it cost to purchase as much of the Foreign Quarter (which I believe is located on a separate island from the rest of Yin, IIRC) as we can reasonably manage?

Should we attempt to contact some of the various monasteries and see how open they are to lore trading?

@DragonParadox could we visit our own monk's school of the Middle Path?

That might be looked at in askance. What do you want that much land for?

Ting learned from the proverbial old master on the mountain, though I'm not sure on all the details. @Crake was there any institutional aspect to his training?

-[X] Wu-Jen

Traders because we have done more than enough for the court, with the botched assassination and all those dead fiends that would be Azure Boy's problem if we didn't solve it.

Wu Jen because they are the structured casters, like Wizards, so they should have an easier time translating and teaching whatever skills they have, unlike instinct-casters that have often trouble with that.
