Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I don't think well be talking anything bad though, Yrs said we won't be goin headlong into our insecurities im thinking's its just more what Ling Qi is trying to understand and articulate what exactly they are to her.

Like are they family? are they MY family? cause we adopted her but she's tryin to work out what this means and he's got a good family background so we can ask him if this has happened and can ask advice.

Were tryin but were doin a flub and terrible at social but also reaching out and he knows this so hell want to understand our fish eye blue screen of Hanyi

Its not all the bad its the good I think that people are forgetting of why we kept coming back for them, they were funny and kind in their own ways and remembering and telling him about them would do good for her to have someone at least understand.

We couldn't get anyone else to understand what they were too us so this could be our chance to actually talk about them in a positive way and what they mean to her.

[X] Speak of Zeqing as a person, and the insights you gained from interacting with her. [More personal, may be difficult to articulate. More open, may prompt more personal responses in turn and unpack issues regarding Hanyi.]

Hearing Ling Qi's take on Zeqing as a person, as conveyed to a third non-friend party is actually kind of super tempting? Like. Zeqing is an inherently hilarious person to describe to anyone else because the lady was a piece of work. I mean that in the best way possible, of course. The hilarity is only amplified by Ling Qi being her personal student. Not only is Zeqing all... Zeqing, but she's Zeqing in a place of authority and prominence in (partially) shaping the worldview of a cultivator. A cultivator Bai Qian is having dinner with and technically suiting. Considering Zeqing's eating habits, this is just all the more entertaining.

Zeqing is interesting though. She was covetous, temperamental, lonely, and cold but she was also naive and unhindered in a way that closely approached generosity. Sometimes that was just generously throwing us into a deadly blizzard.

Ling Qi: "and then she was, like, 'you should eat your friends and bind them to you forever so they can never leave you', and I felt like I could really relate to that you know? That's something I really try to channel into my music"

I mean, what is the nature of Music if not thieving the essence of others' efforts and character to immortalize them within the inescapable lens of our expression? If we paint the walls of the vault of our soul with the colours of our loved ones, we have them for eternity.

Honestly, we're not on particularly solid ground here. Being able to get all the way through the date and out the other end without anything bad happening is already important/uncertain/fraught enough. We don't need to push things. Talking about her has a musician feels much safer. The chance for insight into music skills also sounds quite nice, though it's a secondary concern.

For that matter, poor Bao is *also* out of his depth a bit. shifting it back to speaking of her as a musician eases his role in the conversation as well.

Gotta say, that moment of "Wait. That *worked*?" from him was pretty entertaining, from an outside view.

Speaking of Zeqing as a musician now doesn't mean we can't speak of her in more depth, as a person, later. We can tell him what she taught us of music and expression of it, and if he finds that interesting or it comes up again I'm the future (which it probably will, since he seems determined to start an entire entertainment industry off our music), we can talk to him of Zeqing the person.

Thing is, social votes are limited and can actually be one and done.
It is possible that neither option will ever appear again, and they definitely won't appear in the same context (and almost certainly not until after Hanyi's musical career has gotten started).
Maybe Zeqing comes up again later, or maybe she won't.

Every vote that involves other people should be considered potentially a final chance to pick the options given.

Man I'm super interested in both options here...

Uhg...

Since the other is winning I'll vote for the opposite.

You know, I think it was actually a good idea to agree to this 'date' with Bao Qian thing. With how flatfooted we got him, I think the dude expected either a flat rejection or the spar compromise.

This means, that Ling Qi has continued her sucess at the Social Art of confounding our oppone- I mean confounding Ling Qi's friends.

I doubt he expected the spar. A spar suggests more trust and intimacy than he expects here if she were a normal Cultivator, to a normal cultivator a dinner date would be shallow intimacy and a spar is for someone you can trust to:
-Know your skills in detail
-Know your domain in detail
-Hit you without causing permanent harm.
-Harm you without causing feud.

Ling QI's settings are just completely off.

People keep saying this, but I think it's basically bullshit. The quote from Meizhen used to support this idea was specifically in the context of regular spars where both participants hone new capabilities and carefully push their limits. Not all spars are that intimate.

Cultivators spar all the time. It's not really a big deal. The Celestial Empire has a very martial culture, with some exceptions. We have no reason to think friendly spars or exhibitions are out of the ordinary or that there's an expectation to show off your "good stuff" with a relative stranger.

there were good arguments either way, so at the end, undecided, i picked the one i wanted at first, on gut instinct.

the merchant boy wanted to interview a client at a dinner, and got a clueless girl. just wait till he LEARNS of the LUCK the girl has... all the ridiculous results we got her due to high rolls...

Bao Qian chuckled. "Not to the fare in a place like this. Culinary cultivators do in fact exist, but it is considered a branch of pill and elixir craft. My Great Aunt Qiao is one such and I must tell you such meals are an experience."

So it's basically Toriko.
I remember there was a lot of other systems mentioned , does anyone remember what else is out there and where they may have crossed over from?

If were talking about what hell be interested in look at the description for the person hell want to get to know her far more than the musician as it won't generate any interest thats not already well known to him.

This is a more personable setting lets get to know each other more than just business and surface deep views and talk about family im sure he'd love that.

Plus lets be real when are we actually ever gonna open up if not now?
We can swap family stories about how nuts and crazy they are like when Hanyi was playing with us when we first met, Zeqing having that little party for Ling Qi inviting all the other spirits and Zengui playing tag with them!

Its not unloading all of the bad memories just getting to know another person by their travels and unexpected companions on the mountain.

Im almost certain this is her removing the venom mask she wears to outsider's while the musician is her toying with it on again. Know why? She always associates her flute as a tool and little more even if it is sentimental.

When she talks about them that's her sincerity of how much more she cares about them than what she practices!
