Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I mean, what is the nature of Music if not thieving the essence of others' efforts and character to immortalize them within the inescapable lens of our expression? If we paint the walls of the vault of our soul with the colours of our loved ones, we have them for eternity.
This, but unironically.
People keep saying this, but I think it's basically bullshit. The quote from Meizhen used to support this idea was specifically in the context of regular spars where both participants hone new capabilities and carefully push their limits. Not all spars are that intimate.

Cultivators spar all the time. It's not really a big deal. The Celestial Empire has a very martial culture, with some exceptions. We have no reason to think friendly spars or exhibitions are out of the ordinary or that there's an expectation to show off your "good stuff" with a relative stranger.
Took words out of my mouth. Remember, the Inner Sect members we have dispensation to spar with are CRX, Meizhen, Xiulan... and Shen Hu.

I feel confident saying that we are not on intimate terms with mudboy.

She eyed him warily, but the recently learned lessons of the arts she had been studying stopped her knee jerk reaction to the seeming criticism. "I told you, didn't I. I want to keep climbing. I have to keep up with Cai Renxiang, and the Duchess' expectations if I'm going to keep getting the resources I need. Lady Cai does her best to nudge me into keeping up with other things but she's busy too." she didn't even remember the last time Renxiang had stopped for anything more than a cup of tea.

She remembered Cai Shenhua's ultimatum. She wouldn't let herself be discarded, both for herself and because she was genuinely worried that Cai Renxiang might crack under the weight if left alone.

Bao Qian's brows were drawn together in consternation. "Hmph, you are surprisingly difficult to categorize Miss Ling.
I think Ling Qi gave away a bit more than she intended to here, and really made the penny drop for Bao Qian that she's actively holding herself to the bar of "keep pace with the ducal heirs" and doing so with "expectations" from the Duchess. That Ling Qi is fully intending on maintaining a death grip on being CRX's right hand woman long after the sect and ride that position all the way to the heights of cultivation. And the Duchess approves and has expectations.

As opposed to being the henchwoman that CRX eventually outgrows and who then mostly just leans on friendship as a source of influence.

How many teenager cultivators, of any kind of background, can go and casually say "well the duchess expects me to..."?
Probably not many.

I still think talking about Hanyi will help her loosen up, I'm also afraid about the insight somewhat learning more about the nature of Endings seems bad to me cause it's just so bleak and sad.

I want her to be more approachable and family oriented not turn into an even more gloomy girl than she is already is. That's why I picked the date so she could open up more.

Nothing wrong with gloomy and introverted.
I hope Ling Qi can learn to deal with her traumas, gets along with her family and friends, and even make more friends and family.
But i will push back against an idea that this means she needs to become more outgoing and sociable.

Sure she needs to become better at faking being outgoing and sociable due to her chosen career, but that's a different thing.

Yes but when she was with the hunting party she had no problem gushing about her spirits, it will be natural and a happy topic for her.

Even introverts can have happy conversations, provided with a right topic and people to have it with. :D
Which is what I'm saying, I don't want her to be sad for the future I want her to be happy with all the loved ones she already has
I just don't want her to be this depressed girl all the time because of this insight it's not healthy

But she's happy when she's unapproachable, that's why she's having so much trouble opening up. You can't want both, these are mutually exclusive atm.

[x] Speak of Zeqing as a person, and the insights you gained from interacting with her. [More personal, may be difficult to articulate. More open, may prompt more personal responses in turn and unpack issues regarding Hanyi.]

How much would that be our fault? We will clearly be more open if we choose the first option.

Personally, I just want Ling Qi to be able to do small talk and light topics in social settings, not sharing her problems and vulnerabilities to someone who, while nice, isn't even a friend of her, on their first date. Not being open about personal issues on a first date isn't a problem or a flaw.

To be clear here Ling Qi is not going to blurt out deep insecurities here, its just talking about zeqing the person will necessarily involve talking about Hanyi, which might prompt introspection.

People keep conveniently forgetting this.
So lets sum up
1 The date was always going to be awkward but she will not be miserable nor get high strung stress.
2 I INVOKE DOMAIN INSIGHT!
Sincerity is the measure by which the worthiness of the self and ones guests should be measured.
3 PMR this is that arts bread and butter.
4 His domain is quite similar to ours if I'm not mistaken so has the advantage of similar beliefs as ours and has been a gentleman and a scholar to boot.
5 With all these stacked in our favor I believe she will be CONFIDENT in the first choice as she's willing to open up.

We picked the date for it to go great not mediocre and thats what the music is its just business chit chat.
They will both be much more engaged in the first choice as well.

The only difference is the introspection do we focus on our Daughter/Sister or Zeqings Ending music?

[X] Speak of Zeqing as a musician, and the way that your style and compositions changed from interacting with her. [More impersonal, easier to talk about. May offer some insights into music skills from introspection]

Picking this option because it seems most logical for the conversation that's happening. Even if Qi is dense as a brick she would have picked up his hint to go to something easier to talk about. Zeqing as a person is a weird place to take the conversation because that seems a little fraught and a little too deep for a lets lighten the conversation. It's a bit of a complicated personal relationship Zeqing and Qi had, maybe not something you'd necessarily want to bring up with a near stranger.
