  • [X] Viserys' Mythic Path (Path of the Ascendant)
-[X] New Mythic Spell: Time Stop
-[X] Mythic Feat: Extra Path Ability
    -[X] Path Ability:
--[X] Component Freedom (Ex): When you cast an arcane spell, you can ignore one component of the spell: focus, material, somatic, or verbal. You can ignore a focus or material component only if its total value is equal to or less than 100 gp × your tier. You can select this ability more than once; each time you take this ability, the number of components you may ignore for each spell you cast increases by 1.
--[X] Nature of a Realm (Su/Ex): At 3rd Tier, you gain the ability to grant spells to divine spellcasters who choose to follow your creed, as the Divine Source Mythic Ability (you choose two domains as normal), bestowing upon them an echo of the flame that you have forged into a beacon to the world, standing forever against the dark. For so long as even a single echo endures, so too will you, and thus the realm itself. As long as any follower of yours capable of casting spells of a level equal to (Mythic Tier/3) lives, you are treated as if you had the Longevity Mythic Ability.
---[X] Longevity (Su): Upon taking this ability, you can no longer die from old age. If you have penalties to your physical ability scores due to aging, you no longer take those penalties. You still continue to age, and you gain all the benefits to your mental ability scores.
---[X] Divine Source (Su): You can grant divine spells to those who follow your cause, allowing them to select you as their deity for the purposes of determining their spells and domains. Select two domains upon taking this ability. These domains must be alignment domains matching your alignment if possible, unless your alignment is neutral. You grant access to these domains as if you were a deity. Creatures that gain spells from you don't receive any spells per day of levels higher than your tier; they lose those spell slots. In addition, you can cast spells from domains you grant as long as their level is equal to or less than your tier. Each day as a spell-like ability, you can cast one spell of each level equal to or less than your tier (selecting from those available to you from your divine source domains).
    ---[X] Domains Selected:
    ----[X] Law Domain
    ----[X] Knowledge Domain
[X] Lya's Mythic Path (Path of the Sage)
-[X] Mythic Attribute Bonus: +2 Intelligence
    -[X] Path Ability:
--[X] Competent Caster (Ex): You automatically succeed at concentration checks to cast arcane spells. This ability doesn't apply to spells of the highest spell level you can cast.
    [X] Richard's Mythic Path (Champion)
-[X] Mythic Attribute Bonus: +2 Strength
    -[X] Path Ability:
--[X] Longevity (Su): Upon taking this ability, you can no longer die from old age. If you have penalties to your physical ability scores due to aging, you no longer take those penalties. You still continue to age, and you gain all the benefits to your mental ability scores.
[X] Dany's Mythic Path: Path of the Hoard-Breaker
-[X] Mythic Attribute Bonus: +2 Wisdom
-[X] Mythic Feat: Iron Will (Mythic)
    -[X] Divine Surge:
--[X] Inspired Spell (Su): You can expend one use of mythic power to cast any one divine spell, treating your caster level as 2 levels higher. This spell must be on your divine spell list (or your domain spell list) and must be of a spell level that you can cast using that divine spellcasting class. If you are a spontaneous spellcaster, you don't need to have the spell prepared, nor does it need to be on your list of spells known. Using this ability does not expend a prepared spell or available spell slot. You can apply any metamagic feats you know to this spell, but its total spell slot level must be a slot level you can normally cast.
    -[X] Path Abilities:
--[X] Faith's Reach (Su): Whenever you cast a divine spell with a range of touch, you can instead cast the spell with a range of 30 feet. If the spell normally requires a melee touch attack, it instead requires a ranged touch attack.
--[X] Lucid Breach (Su): You are adept at breaching magical defenses and resistance to your magic. When attempting a caster level check to dispel an effect, overcome spell resistance, or otherwise determine whether or not your magic affects a target (such as with knock or neutralize poison), roll twice and take the higher result. As a special effect due to the manner in which you first acquired Mythic rank, you gain a bonus to caster level checks equal to half your Mythic Tier against the Dragon Goddess Tiamat and any beings who serve or whorshp her.

Part MMMCCCXLI: Counting Broken Wings
Counting Broken Wings

Thirteenth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

The battle was not over of course, not even the 'death' of their goddess-incarnate and the capture of their boy king would convince thousands of sellswords to drop their arms and surrender. Who were they even to surrender to, the dragons raining fire from on high, the mages conjuring deadly winds, the assassins passing among the tents killing off their officers and mages? You found a total of thirteenth drakes broken on the ground, their corpses burning with many-colored flame that reflects garishly upon the corpse of Tiamat. It is not over, but it soon will be.

It almost does not seems real somehow, the mountain of scale and splintered bone, too many heads coiled around each other eaten from within by the power of mortal gods and elder powers. Or perhaps it is the most real thing in all the battlefield and all else is but shadows dancing on the wall. Dany is different against the haze, more sharp-edged, the silver of her armor brighter, like Lya, like Ser Richard... and you suspect like you. "Does your magic feel different?"

"Y-es," she stretches out the sentence, eyes becoming distant for a moment. An arrow flies from the bow of some particularly ambitious bowman, but she turns instinctively, allowing it to shatter harmlessly against her true silver breastplate. She barely seems to notice, the drakes have fled, the last of the nightmare dragons also, the priests in the temple are naught but spun dragonglass, and Aegon is unconscious in the Harbinger's grip, a swift spell from Malarys ensuring he would not bleed out before you had spoken to him. "It's like dreaming... but not. That is a long breath you draw in and shape into notes. This is closer, like the beat of my heart, mine."

Turning your own attention inwards you discover something had changed there also, the flame a touch brighter yes, but also a different feel to its burning. More responsive, more eager... You shake the thought away. There was a battle yet to be won, here and elsewhere. From the Shadowlands you hear Garin's voice carry firm reassurances of victory, but also news of a missing cheesemonger... again. More troubling are the missing dragons, subtle as they are filled with malice. Sensing the urgency with which they must move you let the connection fade with one final request: "Find me something of theirs to curse and scry by."

The weapons of the enemy indeed...
You allow the last shiver of fear to pass through you, leaving nothing but the remains of the battle before you to settle. Red Rolly is also not among the captured or the dead, the last of Aegon's inner circle not to share that fate, and while between the shadow fey and the glass golems you had accounted for most of the acolytes of Tiamat, a pair of Her priests had escaped.

"Maybe we can use this, to find them" Dany cradles the Well of Eternity, burning with an ember of stolen power. Nowhere near all of it of course. The gods that had invested the artifact with its powers had divided most of what they had been able to gather among themselves, but the Well itself still has magic, an echo of Tiamat's power.

"Perhaps I could be of aid," an unfamiliar voice rings in your mind. Though such communion needs no syntax you can feel the shape of the words they might have been, Yi Tish, but this is no kami you are conversing with. The words are tinged with fire though. You guess the identity of the speaker a moment before they introduce themselves. "I am Venerable Xue of the Smoldering Cloud Monastery. Flame that was summoned to destroy may yet illuminate the cowards, our shared foes."

"And what would you ask in exchange for such aid, my lady?"
you ask, politely though without committing to her chosen title. You did not come here to meddle in the politics of Trader Town.

"A meeting in peace, Dragon Lord, nothing more, we both profit burning out this nest of rats," she replies, anger heavy as chocking smoke beneath her words. Thinking back to the piles of sacrifices you can well imagine what must have birthed it.

What do you reply?

OOC: Everyone is in some sort of telepathic communication so you get an accounting of most of the notable kills. It's probably a bit excessive to give you the apprentices and such too, but I did not feel that bit of extra realism was worth making the list twice. XP will be later since I need to figure out how to award it for some of this stuff. There are no rules for how to do so with mass combat in the standard game.

We already offered them one chance to surrender at the start of the battle. They didn't take it.

I'm alright with either. Teana's shtick seems to be "versatility", which the Shadow line of spells does very well. She doesn't have to be the Jack-of-All type of caster though. The really show-y spells are useful for styling on people during fights, but she's also not a dedicated troubleshooter, and I'm sure having access to a bunch of spell effects from Shadow magic is useful for teaching mages.
It doesn't hurt that Teana has a 50% chance of not consuming a spell slot when she casts a Shadow spell. That has to make it easier to get through a long day of casting in the Scholarium during practical demonstrations.
Would Amrelath, Relath, or any of the Mind Dragons be eligible for Blood Wish?
I think DP has said they are eligible.

For Lady Xue to know what we're discussing, she must have eyes on us through a servitor or minion of some sort, one able to hear what we're saying or read our lips. Or she herself is very nearby and observing on her own.

I don't blame her, of course, but I don't like it.

Hm.
So, currently missing:
2 Tiamat Clerics of the Sixth Circle
5 Tiamat Clerics of the First Circle
Lizzirth (Very Young Red Dragon)/possibly one or two Wizard levels
Mature Adult Female Shadow Dragon
1 Adult Shadow Dragon
1 Ancient Nightmare Dragon
5 Prismatic Drakes
'Red' Rolly
Illyrio Mopatis
1 Wizard of the Fifth Circle
1 Wizard of the Third Circle
7 Wizards of the Second Circle
6 Wizards of the First Circle
We managed pretty much a clean win here.
The clerics and the Dragons can be divined upon via the Well of Eternity regardless of whether this Yi-Tish ritual works out or not.

I'm inclined to try it first, of course, no point in wasting our hard-won battery on this so soon.
--------------------------------------------

Wizards... there's a lot of them, and they aren't really powerful enough for us to be sure they are arrogant assholes who won't turn to Tiamat for help again.
Not sure how to go about them. I guess we have to accept that the one of 5th circle got away, and scry by the belongings for the rest of them.
--------------------------------------------
Who's Red Rolly, again?
--------------------------------------------

With these dragons, we have a total of... 5 dragons to scry-and-die (3 of them - Mindblanked Reds).
Were the Shadow/Nightmare dragons Mindblanked, actually? @Duesal?
--------------------------------------------

Shall we offer the Shugenja Elder the Rezzes for some of their people sacrificed/killed here?
We can try to fuck with Tiamat on that matter, here and now, with a fair bit more of surety than we'd usually get.

No. But hunting an Ancient Nightmare Dragon within the dreamlands doesn't seem wise, especially since Tiamat might show up.
Just getting a round-up of all potential targets, mimd.

I'm well aware that that place is as bad as Feyeild at the moment, especially near the Bloodstone Emperor's territory.

Bottom line, we'll keep on Scrying where it is at most times, in case it ever gets out of Shadowlands after this.

Ah, industrialized Scrying. It is truly a wonder.

I wonder what forces are in SD right now. Couldn't have been only one Dragon, ye?

Red Rolly also escaped. Where is the Leader of the Golden Company?

Surprisingly a good amount escaped us.

So what are we gonna do with the bodies of Jon and Ashara?

Wyvern pilots and Moonchaser crew will probably be drinking for free in the taverns of SD for a while, with stories of this battle to tell.

@Crake, if we agree to Lady Xue's help, which comes with a meeting (I assume with OJ), will the very act of having that meeting damage our standing with the Azure Emperor?

I like that the lower level enemies have a higher survival rate than the high-level ones.
it's almost like we targeted anyone who could do damage to us :D

then make sure they can't be resurrected.
Yeah, well, thankfully, we really do have stuff that can prevent resurrection by anything but Divine Sailent-grade abilities.
And I'm not even talking about "capture and throw to Yss", we have an almost surefire way even with people we kill.

Step 1: Grab the body and cast the Rest Eternal on it. The CL requirement to resurrect will be 35.
Step 2: Burn the body, get the ashes stuffed in our (largely) god-impenetrable cloak. Possibly further into Fey-box as well, depending on the person's importance.
Step 3: Clean up any remaining bodyparts/ashes via a Bloodwish, ensuring that there is no way to dispell the curse without acquiring the body first (also conveniently leaves nothing to reconstitute via a casual Miracle).
Step 4: Profit!!!

Granted, Tiamat will have their souls, so she can turn them into some sort of dragon-themed outsider if she felt like it.

I don't mind meeting with Lady Xue, since it should leave us at least one step removed from meeting with OJ himself. That should prevent any blowback damaging our standing with the Azure Emperor, especially if we keep things on the down low.

If she and her minions can track down some GC leftovers, they're welcome to them.

[X] Accept Lady Xue's aid
-[X] Agree to meet with Lady Xue herself at a time of our choosing before the end of the month. If she presses, make it clear that we have no interest in political entanglements of any sort.

And as Tor perfectly exemplified, that is in no way a defense against the cheese the Curse-staff is!
:V

But like, seriously, if they are reborn in new bodies, well get a much better second shot at them thanks to having killed them once already and having the bodies in our possession still.

Not sure if Timmie would know that, I'd cut the losses if I were her, bit she may not...

@Goldfish, shall we offer rezzes for the shugenja sacrificed/fed to Dragons here?
Chances are, timmie ate their souls, but who knows, we may luck out...

It doesn't look good.

I would advise her to come alone or not at all for political reasons. If she asks 'what political reasons', give her the cold shoulder. I see no advantage having more than unofficial relations with Pol Qo's court opens to us.
