So they do work within the Dreamlands, could a network of Weirwood trees with effects such as

Dream Shield - to protect and reinforce.

Dream Council - to communicate and link people within the Dreamlands.

Create Mindscape (Greater) - to cement the dream construction.

be capable of creating a distinct dream construction that people could operate within?

I want to make a House of Dreams for Dreaming like we have the House of Mirrors for Divination.

People within the encircling Weirwood and can meet together with other dreamers to learn synchronised dreaming and co-ordinate their efforts to reinforce the dream constructions.

@DragonParadox

Did you see this?

Not initially, but I do now

  1. Dream shield is fine
  2. Dream council works but only for wargs since they would ave to touch the edges of the greendream proper
  3. Minscape does not work, the dreamlands are too turbulent to anchor lesser constructions like that, maybe if you had some kind of rune build mirror on the material plane

I'll cover this more in the morning, for now I really do need to sleep before I fall asleep on the keyboard.

Thank you for preliminary answers, at least I know there is something to work on here.

*SIGH*

What am I going to do with you, Tytos?

In a way you are the easiest and hardest Riverlord to convert.

Can I get some people to bounce ideas off of here, while most of you are awake? How do we approach this?

I would suggest easing him into this. Starting with more general topics before talking about his son and then leading him into a conclusion that we want. Gauging his opinions on the situation would speak to how to handle the main problem. Revealing the cat in the bag should be for later.

We should tell the story in full. There isn't a way around it, since inevitably the Brackens and Blackwoods will talk to each other about it and differences in the details would spark another headache. We can soften the blow, however, by pinning the vast majority of the blame on the insane and devious warg.

As is he's going to be a bit cocky in dealing with us since he thinks his worship of the Old Gods earns him points. And in fairness it does, but it also means he'll lower his guards.

The usual thing of VS blade and armor, but also enchanting his weirwood for him will go a long way.

The rewards I'm not worried about, no one can really outbid us, I just want to present him all of the information in a way that will earn his gratitude rather than bitterness for seemingly taking control of the whole situation away from him and Jonos essentially and brokering a dynastic alliance behind closed doors.

That means we kind of have to build up towards each more extreme piece of the puzzle, likely staggering it with "and then we fixed it" in between bits of it.

Yes, I don't think we had any intention of omitting any of the truth here, I just want to know how we're going to open and then bridge it to the ending.

I am not against this but I would like to doctor it in a way that would make him more amenable to our way of thinking. I don't know how he would react to the whole warg situation. I don't imagine it will be aimed toward us but he is certainly not going to be pleased.

I mean could we play the "We saved your families from a disgrace angle" with the dynastic marriage? I feel like that could work.

I don't think Tytos would feel so sanguine on that.

We want to basically stock up on immediate gratitude before talking about how "Hoster's plan" (yeah, actually Catelyn's, but we can give partial credit while talking to his father) was actually workable. You have to admit, saying Jonos Bracken is amenable to a Blackwood marriage and dynastic alliance might completely overturn his entire world view if timed just right.

*...things... take up all free time*
*looks up on the thread for a moment*

Mhm, I'm with @Crake and @Duesal on Lannisters.
Whoever surrenders - gets to be okay, given a new family-name, some good capital kept to start things anew.
We are benevolent like that.

Anyone else, be they a level 15+ mage, or a random mook-like Knight of 5th level?
If they don't surrender, they are
FFFFFFFFFUCKED.

Wall/losing everything they have is the easiest they get off, the way I see it.

Setting-wise, we are in our full right to do much, MUCH worse.

So we lead with the warg attempting to kill his family and continue a feud to shore up goodwill and then pile on the revelations?

[X] You will ease into the conversation by explaining that for most of the Lords of Westeros that you've visited, defenses against the more insidious foes and threats, usually the most prescient and powerful, have been rather slim, so you've used your own wealth of experience dealing with cults and fiends and other foulness by generally cleaning up the immediate problems most are facing whom you have already visited. It just so happens that whatever ancient threat that had risen up wasn't at all lying dormant through Magic's slumber like most, it was that which threatened both House Blackwood and House Bracken for nigh uncountable generations.
-[X] You lead him along the threads of insight as you followed them, proving not only your competence but the care you placed into the matter, the sword, the Lady, chains of logic succinctly lain out and hopefully your cleverness and light touch endears you to them, if not the meat of the subject, most of what you tell him, if it had come to pass, do not paint a pretty picture for the depths of depravity and loathing Rickard Stark would sink to. You paint Lady Catelyn in the best light that you can, hoping to use clever conversational turns to render any ire he might feel away from Brackens and onto the monster which tried to engineer a horrid fate for both Lords' children, and ultimately the destruction of their lines. No more to blame than Hoster or really either of the High Lords for all that, as they had danced on unseen strings since the very day they were born.
--[X] You know this will spark anger, not necessarily at you, maybe rage at Rickard, though you had the idea to sacrifice him--after extracting as much useful information from him as possible--in order to both help empower the Raven Tree, but perhaps also make Hoster Blackwood a true Druid with a connection to the Old Gods. The important part is the distinction that the ancient feud, thousands of years of intricate, maddened schemes, even the very foundations of it such as a poisoned Raven Tree, can be lain at the feet at either all of them, or one of them who ultimately won't get to be the one who decides that the only legacy left behind of the grand tragedy shall be the ashes of the dead and forgotten.
---[X] Moreover, this may perhaps be the last chance for a clean break. What else could convince him, short of Jonos Bracken of all people being tentatively open to a true marriage and dynastic alliance, unshadowed by hidden barbs and last minute spite? In any other world but this one it would be impossible to extract such a huge change of heart were what we spoke here not both completely accurate, but more importantly carrying a more poignant truth:
----[X] While it might have been a Blackwood who lay at the heart of this madness, if we set aside other ancient sins, far and away from living memory as they are, who has the right to hold those living now, with responsibilities to to both their living heirs and their subjects, accountable for what might set aright those deeds, and not at the hand by some vengeful specter or distant liege haphazardly telling both sides to shake hands and get along, but those scions who today can make of the world a brighter and kinder place?
-----[X] Wearily, you close your account with the following: "Ultimately my Lord, I implore you to consider this, please. For years I have faced all kinds of horrors, prevented the worst atrocities from being committed on Westerosi soil, often times for people who wouldn't feel an ounce of gratitude for the efforts. It was my duty, yes, but it was also a thrill and a pleasure to stop monsters or alien minds from just having their way with us all. This tale? It's not my glory, for I shan't be sharing it far and wide, nor does it bring me pleasure that so much sorrow was woven together much like a serpent devouring its own tail. It's not a story simply of monsters and wraiths from the past, heroes stepping forth to stop them, or glory and accolades thus dispensed. It's a tale of men and women. No one will learn of it outside of these two Keeps and in the councils of Kings... but perhaps that is for the best? Anything else would just earn us the laughter of thirsting gods."

Thoughts?

I know we were planning to bookify Rickard, but what if we allowed Tytos to sacrifice him instead, before the restored Blackwood Heart Tree? Rickard is a 14th level Warg, and not just any Warg, but one who would have been a king if not for treachery and madness, as well as a violator of one of the OG's most sacred laws. That should be worth a decent boon, perhaps changing Hoster from a mere Hedge Mage into a full fledged Druid, one who can come to SD to learn more of his powers and the OG, while neatly tying the Blackwoods more closely to our regime.

Viserys: "Behold, Rickard Stark, would be king of the North in times immemorial, a victim of circumstance who allowed his grief and rage to drive him mad, and in his madness he sought to foment an unending feud between the descendents of his betrayer and a family of innocent scapegoats. Would you like to gut him before your Heart Tree?"

Don't ask me, I have no context for any of this.
[X] Crake

Side note, it must be really scary to be a Lannister Diviner right about now.
:V
In but two-to-three days, a literal fuckload of Lords suddenly ping as having changed their allegiance.

G'night all.

I want his delicious thousands of years of forbidden knowledge and lore.

...eh, the books we are oversaturated with.

Admittedly, so are the PCs, but at least this'll get us another chance to empower OGs, whereas a Warg-book is... well, just an account of 2k years of [redacted] behavior by a mad fuck.

Go for eet, sayeth I.

I mean Book him first and look through it using that spell and if it isn't worth anything then toss the man to the trees. Nowhere does it say one can't do both.
