... do you think I'm fucking magic?!

How am I supposed to convince Eddard Stark to give Viserys a piece of his ancestor's dead body, defiling their rest and only a broken sword and our word as proof of an ancient warg trying to destroy a Great House???

Damn it, man, I'm a writer, not a miracle worker!

...why cant we sneak in, and grab a piece of the body without permission, then?

Like, seriously.
It will allow us to skip most of the bullshit involved with funding the skinchanger.

It's not like they have a way to notice us, even with all the wards...
Heck, we have Jon on the inside, I'm sure he wouldn't mind halping some :V

Because it goes against my very long-term plan of getting Eddard Stark's fealty by being too honorable to fight against, unlike the Usurper? In every word and deed we have treated him as such, and he has no proof of even us quietly and harmlessly spying upon him.

This doesn't just go against that grain. Spying might be forgiven. You're asking to invade the stronghold with the greatest wards of all castles in Westeros, perhaps the world given it was made by a high Mythic archmage, with the only means of doing it subtly being taking advantage of the trust of our nephew.

Not just no, but fuck no.

People, enter Demand, Sending's big and obnoxious brother. Get access to the remains, spew some bullshit about approving and wishing to help, set a meeting place. Because mind control really does solve most issues.

...you care way too much about political bullshit, imo, whereas I consider ancient magic bullshit more important to deal with.

Sure, whatever.

I'm not going to speak to the plan as a whole, that is for you guys to decide, I will say this much Dany would be deeply troubled at the idea of getting Jon involved in grave-robbing the crypts and for the sake of character consistency I would say Viserys would not be entirely happy with the notion himself IC.

Now that we know we're looking for a Warg of all things, I'm sure Bloodraven could tell us how to find them. He certainly knows how the northern lords did it, and probably some more tricks even they didn't have.

No need for grave robbing.

To be fair this 'ancient magical bullshit' seems to only be troubling in so far as it relates to the politics of the realm, the Bracken-Blackwood feud, nothing Viserys has seen so far indicates that Rickard is an existential thread to Westeros or the world.

This we can conquer with cunning and magic.

You can't unfuck politics. Politics is the avoidance of fuckery by other means.

Don't we have a few Wargs in our employ? I doubt there's many Wargs in the area, so if he don't have divination protection, couldn't we just grab one of our Wargs as a reference for the magic, and cast a spell to find any other Wargs?

I mean once you know what you're looking for, there's typically spells to find it, so can't we just miracle a location spell for all Wargs?

Sure we might get a few false alarms before we find him, but I'm okay with jumping around a little to find him, and we might want to recruit any other Wargs we meet.

Wait, what are we doing? Wargs can be detected by other wargs. And the most powerful warg in the world is role-playing as a eunuch spymaster under the Usuper's employ.

[X] Consult Bloodraven and ask for his aid in searching for all nearby wargs in the area. Particularly one with an old soul.
-[X] Prepare to bleed some sacrifices if necessary.

Wargs draw power from the old gods ya? Can we just sacrifice a few hd of stuff to have them take away the enemy's power and give us its location?

Not quite, warging is a magical talent, one that is required to join the greendream as a greenseer, but not itself drawing on the Old Gods. Bloodraven for instance was a warg long before the dedicated himself to the Old Gods in the twilight of his life.

Brynden is busy. And I'm not sure if the OG can use their power to help directly or not. Maybe if he's within range of a Weirwood but they were burned pretty hard in the South. @DragonParadox?
