@DragonParadox, I'm guessing the Blackwood boy decided that since the last union of Blackwoods and Brackens resulted in a line of Riverlander kings -- the Justmans -- this dalliance with the Bracken girl was somehow just meant to be?

He seriously needs a Scholarum course on divinations. Even Bloodraven's divinations aren't completely set in stone a mere year down the line.

Not quite, from what Ansa knows it was something like this
  1. He started out looking into the Poisoned Heart Tree that has just been revived, a tree whose tale is very much bound up in the Bracken Blackwood feud
  2. Then he started getting visions somewhere about finding asnwers
  3. He finds a pretty Bracken girl in need of rescuing, and they fall in love
  4. Between them they figure Hoster was not supposed to find answers about the past but heal the feud between the Houses by marrying (ignore all the times it didn't work they weren't fated.)

He's being very optimistic... You can get visions about almost anything if you look hard enough, that doesn't mean you're chosen by destiny on that particular subject.

Then again he and the girl sound like they're still kids, so the stupidity isn't unexpected.

Viserys: "My brother heard about a prophecy about destined love and saving the world."

Hoster: "See? It's so romantic, how could you not believe it's meant to be?"

Viserys: "Well, Rhaegar got his chest crushed in by a Warhammer, and the woman died in childbed."

Hoster: "...oh."

Viserys: "Congratulations, you played yourself."

Being fair to Hoster Blackwood, in his case the girl is as willing as he is. He did not kidnap anyone.

@DragonParadox, according to Bloodraven, what's the truth about the formerly dead Blackwood weirwood? Did the Brackens actually poison it?
True, but I felt the distinction was worth making. Also 16 is a lot younger than Rhegar was at the time of his ill fated plan.
Which is why I'm considering it nothing more than teenage idiocy instead of, "You're too stupid to live."

Someone definitely poisoned it, but what little the Old Gods were able to pick out of the moment is not clear enough to say if it was a Bracken. This was back during the Andal Invasion when the Greendream as constantly wracked by pain and death.
Have you decided what effects Bloodraven gave the Heart Tree? Or is it currently unenchanted?

Unenchanted, he just made it alive again.
Oh, neat.

@Crake, heads up, offering to enchant the weirwood with whatever they want probably be a good bargaining tool with the Blackwoods.

Given how old and big it is we could potentially cover the entirety of their castle and a few acres or two of their lands with a Magic Circle Against Evil or something.

Hoster: "...so you see your Grace, I did not kidnap her, thus--"

Viserys: "...neither did Rhaegar. Do you think her father will not bash your chest in with a warhammer claiming you didn't abscond with her?"

Hoster: *realizing he was just about to claim Rhaegar was a rapist* "Uhhhh..."

Viserys: "So you do have tact. You'll be needing that when Lord Bracken comes to bash your chest in."
