Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Suyin's access pipeline to the Gnawing Ones is located in the Outer Sect. Su Ling was also involved with it and know about it, IIRC.

And like I said, she gets premonitions of extreme danger and a rough idea of where it's coming from, and that's something that would have been empowered at Green. She'd see it pointing at the crack and be going "Oh fuck my everything" and calling for backup. And because she's Third Realm, she's liable to quickly get the ear of Gan Guangli, doubly so as we've probably put good words in about her in the past.

Like, I don't think a straight up mass incursion would have hit, but they might have done a cloaked strike force of guys (shielded possibly like the Shaman was) like the ones we fought with Suyin back in month two or three of threads, and likely hit a prepared Outer Sect with talented Greens at the vanguard.

I like how I think the aftermath of this affects GGs chances of keeping up.

Can the Argent Sect really afford to give inferior resources to the top 10 or so OS Disciples during wartime when everyone knows they're superior to the bottom 150 IS Disciples and only the unique circumstance of their year prevented their ascent?

I think it's more likely they'll get wartime promotions and bypass the tournament, which'll let them restabilize things well ahead of schedule too, so win-win.

"Elder Zhou has been slain."
Holy crap, that's quite a surprise. Must have been quite a serious attack if they brought enough to take down a combat-oriented 6th realm cultivator like him.

Yanmei was quite impressive here too. Looks like she's doing kind of purification build? Fitting, for a descendant of the Purifying Sun.

[x] Shockwaves (Su Ling)
A few reasons for this:
  • It's been ages since we saw Su Ling. Not since the previous thread, I think, aside from omake.
  • Due to currently being in the outer sect, she pretty much never gets to show up onscreen anymore, whereas Renxiang and Xiulan are right there and we'll get to see them plenty.
  • That triple-crit Green breakthrough, I really want to see what she's like after that.
  • This is the only option that'll really show what went on in the outer sect during this event. We know stuff happened all over the sect, there had to have been plenty of action there too.

Do you think she'd go to GG or straight to Sect leadership? Remember, she was our buddy for shaman-murdering and also got headpats from Elder Su.

Hm. So it just occurred to me that with the wog that the reason Elder Zhou was so important to the Argent Sect being that he had the potential to replace Yuan He, and the Duchess has a golden opportunity for a win/win scenario if she uses CRX to make a play at an increased centralization in the Emerald Seas by negotiating with the Argent Sect for a requirement for her aid to be that they give CRX a fair shake at Sect Head. This is an avenue for centralization that avoid stepping on any of the toes belonging to her vassals, and more importantly the Sun/Bai conflict basically guarantees it will succeed in shoring up the border region as any amount of funding she provides will be exceeded by the far far richer inner provinces.

Although more significant than any money would that the Duchess as a White tier cultivator can follow up on maybe she gave to Yuan He at the tournament in regards to an opportunity to clash with her, and is the something in theory that might give him the necessary insight to hit White tier, which from the pov of the Duchess is likely a good thing as a White is someone who needs to be bribed to keep happy thus benefiting the Emerald Seas. Meanwhile the Sect Head having lost his best chance at producing a successor capable of keeping the Argent Sect treading water, and has little to lose having endured decades, or even centuries of his requests for additional funding being met with "We'll consider it if you produce a crop of talents sufficient for the royal guard, and/or ministry of integrity agents for us to feed into the meat grinder that is inner province politics" thereby removing them from protecting the border he needs more funds/manpower to properly safeguard much less maintain the local economy to support the Sect military.

Oh, and the worst part about it is that Elder Zhou likely died on, or near enough to some rather critical border fortification that they've been compromised, and that is how you get a Sect Head while too virtuous to break/bend any laws is perfectly willing to play ball with whatever the Duchess has planned to benefit the Emerald Seas. Because at the end of the day Yuan He almost certainly remembers what the province was like before Ogodei wrecked the place, and even if he didn't a lot of his close friends to bring him down making him naturally inclined to be proactive about avoiding a repeat of history when an option opens up to do so.
That would technically be an anti-centralization move. The Great Sects are de jure under the direct authority of the Imperial throne. Having a province's Duke install their heir as head of a sect would represent an effective devolving of an Imperial authority to provincial authority.

Okay idk if this is a noob question but since this arc involved a lot of War (correct me if I'm wrong), shouldn't LQ being getting some points added to War?
