How about we propose 1 month of training, and then she decides if that's something of value?

Mechanically this is the inferior option. She can always retrain once she has more levels, but if she goes to the Gith now then it'll take her a lot longer to get stronger. Even a month's time is going to have her progress quickly if she adventures.

[X] Agree that she is best served learning by experience, her recent battle with the Deep One magus right here in Claw Island proves as much

Somewhat out of left field, but I had a possibly useful idea.

One of the main problems the Gith have outside of mind eating squids is maintaining order in limbo. Could we start producing either items based on Perinarch and Planar Perinarch to automate it?

They almost certainly have stuff like this already, but if they have trouble trading and are mostly focused on Psionics it might not be feasible to apply at a large scale. We could research a way to expand or connect multiple fields based on those spells, then make items or low int creatures to maintain them.

We could trade those items/animals to them for higher power Psionic items, and free up people to help us kill deep ones.

It's cool if she doesn't want to stay with them for a while, but we should still try to broaden her horizons.

[X] Respect Jeyne's decision to continue her work here on Planetos.
-[X] While we respect her decision and support her desire to make a difference, we would still like her to make the trip with us to Limbo to introduce her to the Githzerai. They could prove to be valuable contacts for her to make, given her unusual situation. She might also glean some valuable insight into the nature of her powers from interacting with others who share such abilities.

I agree; narratively, it makes more sense for me to first learn the basics from a master and then go train. If you do it vice versa, the master has to make you forget all the stuff you got only partially right (mechanically, the retraining part).

If she were a wizard-type psion who needs to actively learn and prepare her abilities daily then I'd agree and immediately try to get her trained, but she's a sorcerer-type psion with a more intuitive understanding of her abilities. It's like Viserys scaled down. She could be taught by someone, but it's always going to be slower than growing her power the classic way.

Listen, this isn't just about developing a psionic. Jeyne has gotten it into her head that developing her own personal power is the end-goal of her training but, to be blunt, that isn't what we need. And by 'we' I mean both Viserys personally and the Imperium as a whole. Having Jeyne train with the Githzerai would serve several important purposes at once. It diversifies our relationship with the Githzerai through means other than trade and military force. It allows Jeyne to grow her power both more safely and, more importantly, more consistently. And, perhaps most important, ensures that Jeyne's psionic powers will grow in a way that diverges from her more illithid-inclined nature.

Jeyne has repeatedly expressed concerns about who and what she is. I see no reason to encourage her to turn down training and risk returning to a bad place when there are gentler alternatives. Especially when the reason Jeyne thinks she needs to go it on her own simply aren't valid. By no means should we order her to train with the Githzerai, but we should make it clear that we neither need nor want her to struggle through hardship for the sake of raw power. We should make sure that kind of ruggedly independent, self-tutoring is something she wants for herself rather than what she think is expected of someone in her position.

[X] Point out that you did not have the chance to train when you were in her shoes, but that is no reason for her to deny the chance.

Spell to Power Erudite ...
But the nightmarish trophies are the best ones. :(

Proven by best Fire Whale. Honestly, nothing could go wrong with eldritch abomination out of reality trophies.

This isn't a concern. Like, at all. Jeyne is completely and utterly human with no Far Realm taint whatsoever. The illithid made sure of it so that there would be little to no chance of detection. The only reason we figured out what she was at all was because we were immediately suspicious of any psionics.

There is no chance of her psionic powers developing along an Illithid-inclined nature because she doesn't have an Illithid-inclined nature.

The best trophies are the ones that haunt your nightmares.

Her body was made by the illithid and Jeyne's only reference point for what psionics are capable of are the illithid. Even if it isn't hard coded into her physiology, Jeyne at least subconsciously thinks/fears of herself as tainted by the Illithid and, without guidance from the Githzerai, has no other point of reference for her psionic development.

@Goldfish I just want to point out that telling Jeyne that she is 'right' when she clearly basing her rationale on fault assumptions, and are encouraging her to visit anyway, just doesn't make sense. Jeyne is an adult who can make her own decisions... but we are also the king and our statements carry substantial weight. If we are going the route of "visit and make your own decision" then we should actively avoid introducing bias before she has a chance to visit.

IC sure, those concerns exist. OOC they are completely disproven. We have DP's word on Jeyne's nature, there is no Far Realm taint in her or her psionics.

We can prove it IC pretty easily via divination or giving her a Far Realm Detection crystal which will not light up at her approach.
