[X] Defend and Counter
. At the top of the ridge that overlooked the river, a massive wall had sprung up, formed of twisted bulging branches and boughs of vital green wood, it rose over ten meters high and stretched on for hundreds, like a shield braced against the ground against the oncoming beasts.
Ling Qi is at roughly 90% health and 50% qi Xiulans at full health but more like 40% qi Zhenhui is at like 70/60 but is also actively regenerating.
You say that as if its not a potential risk.with either option.[X] Move and Reorient
'only the last hit point matters' and 'whatever, we have plot armor' is the wrong way to go at this imo, because 'not dying' isnt 'safe from consequences' and I dont like the potential consequences of tanking a big attack with our throat.
[X] Defend and Counter
I like this thematically. This entire arc has been "defend and counter." We keep putting ourself in harm's way because we're confident that we can handle it and hit the enemy back hard enough to stop them. It really feels like it's building to an Advanced Insight that buds off our TRF Insight: not just "I will give a certain amount of ground, but not an infinite amount," but a kind of defense-of-others-leading-to-overwhelming-offense and oh god as I type this I realize I am describing Super Saiyan, we're becoming a shounen hero, shut it down, shut it all down
This is an excellent point. It's Bai Meizhen's strategy actually, kind of the one that Ling Qi used as her touchstone for how she interprets strength.
"Endure the lashes of the world, and strike back as needed"
