Well, I am willing to confer with Teana and Zherys to see if they are willing to give him a redemption arc or not, but it sits really poorly with me to deny him the chance when it is clear he not only suffered, but regrets his actions, in addition to the fact that he could help us save lives by not kicking this can down the road further.

The Herald can burn the fire immune, so it's not going to be as easy as that.
That's what Protection from Energy(Fire) spells are for. Each one would absorb 120 points of Fire damage. We could keep the Weirwood sapling protected long enough for the OG to consume the Herald, since the Heart Trees grows at ridiculous speed.

I don't care either way, but it's clear to me this is the most direct path to murdering N'gath.

What about this, dig the place up, transform into a dragon, strength buffs, carry it somewhere else and drop it, with a dimensional anchor or 2 nearby.

@DragonParadox

Viserys' thoughts please.

Yeah it is, I have an idea that might be a bit risky but could also shortcut this whole process.

Create Mindscape Greater, creating it with the Harmful trait and anything else that may benefit us.

Why this(maybe) works:

You don't need line of sight to draw the subject creature into the mindscape, but you must be aware of its presence within range.

The range should encompass the whole property and we know he exists as an entity.

The Greater version allows us to take multiple creatures into the Mindscape.

Basically we can create a battlefield, put him on it as a non-house entity and then fight it out Matrix style.

Yeah I'm a little concerned, I think if they're smart they'll be relatively safe but it also makes it pretty likely the Mindflayer can escape if it so chooses.
We'll have to see.

[X] Crake

If we hit the place with a Sleep spell boosted with a Miracle would it put him to sleep for a minute? I dont think we would need much longer than that to get the tree done.

Can we leverage this guy's fey nature somehow? I'd bet that the ritual that bound him here through that fireplace at least partially touched on the symbolism of the hearth being the center of a home. If we identify how his story interacts with his current condition we can exploit it much more safely.

The symbolism of messing with stuff here would be especially useful since it's soaked in this guy's energy and we can use mythic power to increase our narrative weight.

We could do things like buy the house in a storybook appropriate way and put out the hearth, steal an ember to provide a straw for Yss, or similar manipulations to pin him to a story.

Hell, I'd bet that a living relative could either petition Yss to punish the herald for oath breaking, or just sell him the debt to give best snek leverage on this guy. It's worth checking on before playing this straight anyway.

[X] Confer with your Companions and Allies: "What do you think? Could we return him to life with a light heart? Perhaps not, but it would save the lives of others to consider it at least."
-[X] Send to Zherys and Teana alone: "It sits ill with me to pardon fiends merely because we cannot remember a full tenth of their sins out of hand, and they have lesser if equal use in scope to us, but not dare to make that same concession to a man who has clearly suffered and even regrets his actions, simply because we can sit here all day naming how many people he has wronged."
-[X] "What is the point of staying the knife from those who have suffered in madness simply because they can be cured, but scoff at redeeming those such as Tagor who thought they knew better?"
-[X] You may be Lord of Volantis but that rule is newly forged, so obviously you won't go forward with it without at least tentative agreement from the others. If that is gained, offer Tagor a Cyclic Reincarnation.

Could Miracle make a Inverted Magic Circle big enough to cover the house? If so would that a regular magic circle around where we grow the tree work? Both boosted to as high a CL as possible and maybe with Spheres of force and prismatic spheres to go along with them.

Half of the space isn't even dimensionally contiguous, so translocation is far from guaranteed to work like that. More likely we'll fuck something up doing that. Half the danger here is the place is prepared Absolute Territory related to fire, and he wants to burn the city to the ground. What do you think most of the traps hooked up around here are made to do?

Okay, so my vote is mostly just discussing the possibility of rezzing Tagor, but that's not guaranteed to happen as I'm not willing to overrule either Zherys or Teana for... actually, the same reasons. A) I like them and don't want to upset them. B) Both of them have a really important position in our Empire and we can't really burn either bridge just for one guy I'll admit really brought this on himself.

So what is our backup plan if that doesn't go through?

Heart Tree?

Find a descendant of the mage and have him release the creature? I would rather not go magic to magic with the wards tbh.

Edit: Or we tree them. That is always an option.

I am guessing here, but...

Route A) Rezz Tagor, might not be possible without upsetting our friends and allies (who I am trying to befriend) so fuck that if so. This cuts through all the bullshit and skips to the end. Fast route.
Route B) Find a descendant of Tagor, this requires lying our ass off and a lot of social related stuff which just plain might not be worth it since it will be a huge pain in the ass to deal with, guaranteed. Slow route.
Route C) Heart Tree, basically the straight up combat route since we're going to be contested the whole way through. Doesn't the ritual take a long ass time? We might need every single Companion's combat action for this turn to pull it off TBH. Compromise route.

I wonder what would happen if Rina cast a Fell Drain Blizzard spell in the mansion, then added a Fell Drain Blood Snow to it? The Herald is a being of flame and if it's truly bound to the hoise, it might be extremely susceptible to the combined effects of those spells.

-[X] Viserys makes it clear just by suggesting it this is his desired route, but he elaborates to everyone on why. He has three ideas given the information presented and he challenges anyone to present an alternative:
-[X] Option #1, we resurrect Tagor and we can likely put this threat to rest here and now with the minimum amount (still quite a good deal) of risk to personal safety.
-[X] Option #2, we lie our asses off to someone who likely could not remember one good thing about that night and would really rather be as far away from this mansion as possible at all costs. This might not even work.
-[X] Option #3, we prepare a ritual using divine aid from the Old Gods, guaranteed to be painful and require a number of powerful mages and champions to defend the caster and weirwood sapling all the way through. Could be extremely dangerous if interrupted.

Guardians Upon the Shore

Seventh Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

Armor creaked and gravel crunched underfoot as Ser Kennos of Kayce breathed in the cold night air. The arcane metal didn't even smell like iron, nary a hint of rust, even the polish smelled of fresh spring herbs more than the faintly rancid oils even the most dutiful of knights had to learn to ignore eventually. Then Lady Leila tapped him on the shoulder, giving him some kind of magic blessing that made the air around him ripple with subtle sorcery, and then another that rang like a clarion call in his mind before doing the same for Ser Roger.

"I wish we had some sort of veiling magic," the other knight groused as he hefted his great mace gleaming black in the moonlight. How he was planning to sneak up on anything with that great man-killer of a weapon only the Lord of Light knew.

"It's unlikely we could creep up unseen on one of the Deep Ones with only the simplest of veils, and if you would wish for the greater ones than you might as well wish for a Companion to kill that thing," Wisdom Weaver replied as she closed her eyes to summon her own strange magics.

"Well, I for one do not wish for a Companion," the little blue dragon-fey said. "They would steal all the glory and I can go proper unseen just fine, see?" With these words she vanished again from sight.

"No, I don't," Kennos chuckled. There was something strangely comfortable about an ally who approached the prospect of battle with the same carefree curiosity she gave the idea of morning tea.

With these last words the two knights nodded at each other and stepped past to the edge of the boulder they had been hiding behind, pebbles tumbling down the slope to the shore from there passing.

"For the Dragon!" the two Westerlanders shouted, their war cries drowning out the the monster as it spoke and even the sound of the sea behind him as the captain cried out in shock and fear, triying to scramble for the boarding axe at his side.

The thing made no sound, nor was there any fear upon its hideous bronze visage. Instead, Kennos heard it slithering into his mind like black magots. "And here I thought I would have to look for my meal tonight. My thanks for the sacrifice of giving yourselves to me." The most horrifying part of those words, enough to pass even through the haze of battle, was that they did not feel like a threat or some black jest, it felt sincere.

Thunder roared around the thing as Lady Leila loosed her magic, but it stood unmoved like a rock in a gale, a bolt of boiling fire splashed against it, but it slid off with not a single scorch mark. Lord of Light give me strength to carry the torch given to me, Kennos prayed silently and he felt the will of R'hllor fill him with more strength than any spell. Golden light raced up the edge of his sword as he raised it to strike the misshapen head from the thing's shoulders, but in an almost lazy motion the Deep One waved one of its swords and the air around it twisted unnaturally, turning the blow aside as hungry black flames kindled upon his other blade, a brand torn free from hell's own heart.

But as the Deep One's eyes were fixed on Kennos' sword Roger's mace thundered down upon the creature's arm, bruising unnaturally soft flesh and the stolen bone beneath it. There was no pain in its dreadful 'voice', only a sort of cold glee. "I see you have brought her... good."

A formless grey hole seemed to open in the air behind the monster and it began to fall backwards. It was going after Jeyne, Kennos realized. Ser Roger's hammer smashed down again with more desperation that skill, turned aside by magic, but this time Kennos' fury would not be turned aside. Valyrian steel bit through the twisted magic and into the flesh of the monster's shoulder, ending the spell before it had been fully cast. To add insult to injury the fey dragon's chirping filled the air and the black fire blade slipped from the foe's grip, with a little help from Lady Leila do judge from the lurch in Kennos' stomach that heralded fate unwound.

Alas that the other sword was no less deadly, the bronze slipping through the joints of Kennos' armor with impossible swiftness and speed. It was like fighting Ser Lonmouth, a small panicked voice in the back of his mind noted. No, if you were fighting Ser Lonmouth you would be dead already, another part of him added in a rather unhelpful counterpoint to add to agony under his arm. Why was everything getting blurry?

Poison or some curse on the sword,
the knight realized grimly, wondering if he was about to meet R'hllor so soon after finding his faith. Then another bolt of magic arced overhead and the monster's head caught fire, bronze boiling upon it, a smell like charred fish filling the air.

"You presume... much... little... toy," rage black as the ocean's depths filled the Deep One's words as it began to motion again to work its far-striding magic.

Then the black hammer of Ser Roger Reyne smashed into the side of its head, making the soft bronze ring like a bell and the foe crumple to a heap.

OOC: Since I know you guys are going to ask everyone besides Leila, who just got a level on her last important fight, levels up from this. That was a 10th level Ilithid Psychic Warrior. It had very good odds of grabbing Jeyne and running off with her, or even killing one of the knights if it had both swords and the power it invested into the attack, before a Grease spell got in the way.

So question DP, was Argo somewhere else during all this, helping Lord Celtigar?

And also, who got a level up then sans Leila of that group?

I see Dirriz, Leila, Jeyne and Roger + Kennos present. Argo as well as Leila have more to go?

Mindscape should work fine.

Filling the mansion with Brown Mold should work fine, any fire traps will be consumed.

Polar Midnight will target the weakness of fire and permanently stasis any minions or summoned help.

Any of these could work but I need @DragonParadox to give IC thoughts.

I really wish I could get some information for the overnight votes, without it they seem to serve the opposite purpose of just making my ideas a non-entity for 8 hours :/

I could just remove the call to take any action but suggesting my three routes. This gives DP time to both write an update, and answer questions about theorized solutions.
