Could I convince people insterested in our Amberlings to aproval vote for all their options ? I am realy worried about spliting the vote here and I doubt just because we got them for one reason they will be blocked from helping with the other.

Inspired by the mention of the grudge-focused history library in the update I am thinking of spending several dwarf favors asking dwarfs to go and share knowledge with the Grey College (maybe some other Colleges too) about stuff from mathematics to magical enchantment to mining and history, laundering some of Mathilde's dwarf favor into college favor, while also improving the lot of the colleges and the Empire at large, and maybe down the line it'll encourage more journeymen in turn to go see Karak Eight Peaks in the future.

All in a spirit of jolly cooperation.

"From what we can tell, the greenskins haven't been in control of about half of the Chiselwards for some time. Instead, it's spiders. Might be cave spiders, might be escaped forest spiders, though the descriptions don't quite match either. Whatever they are, they're damn huge and they're clever enough to only fight on their terms. We've pushed them back beyond some moderately defensible choke-points but there's still a few avenues that could go either way, and the further back they retreat, the higher density they'll have when they decide to stop retreating."

At the end of the tunnel, far beyond the light, where it narrows then opens into a larger chamber, your magical senses reveal to you a creature returning your stare fourfold. At least enough intelligence for curiousity must reside within, for Ulgu denies the call of gravity to swirl around it as its mind wrestles with the unknown. Is this merely the natural cunning every ambush predator must possess? The process of adaptation that smarter creatures are capable of? Or is this a thinking scout compiling information to be shared with others of its kind?

Presented for reference only, without agreeing or disagreeing with any particular argument.

@BoneyM, is there any practical reason for buying that border prince title that can justify us getting it? Becoming an official Princess sounds pretty cool to me but not sure how we can spin that to the bursars.

Some poor shmuck would certainly have bought it by now. If you really really wanted to you probably represent a force equal to any five existing Border Prince polities and could just go and give them noogies until they made you Queen.

*starts cackling*

Okay that image is *great*.

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.
[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to hatch the supposedly Lustrian eggs and study and possibly train whatever hatches.
[X] The Grand Abyss
[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.

We can't, our only option is to vote to keep them aroud to help with it.
That's what I meant, i suspect the spider are smart enough to reach some sort of agreement, but we need the wizards for communication, and we need to do it soon before they either.
A) succumb to hunger or
B) complete whatever it is they are planning and bite us in the ass.

[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money.
[X] This is Dame Weber's money.

I think we need to show commitment to K8P but that we also need to honour our obligations as a Noble to our Fief and our Business investments.

There is no point in getting loads of books from the Magisters until our Tower is built.

[X] Karag Nar penthouse. (Home)
[X] Karag Lhune. (Laboratory and Storage)

[ ] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.

I want to do this, but there is no rush. The location is not in demand right now so we can do it later.

[X] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.

We absolutely need to do this. It keeps our Journeymanlings together a little longer and gets our fresh insights recorded before they fade.

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to hatch the supposedly Lustrian eggs and study and possibly train whatever hatches.

We already have the eggs and it keeps our mages at hand. Either we get a good set of Steeds or we get some to found a Knightly Order for our Fief back in Stirland. We could even have a chapter house both in Stirland and in K8P.

[X] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.

Networking needs to happen and aerial surveillance will be very useful.

Don't have any particularly strong opinions about choices right now. Well, apart from tower selection - both the abyss and citadel seem kind of bad to me. We want our lab to be secure, and moving it dangerously close to either skavenland or frontlines seems like a bad idea, even though the possibilities of casting burning shadows from our bed in citadel look great. Ultimately, I'm going for convenience - Karag Nar will likely be our main base of operations one way or the other, what with it being purpose-built gest quarters karag and the holy site of Ranald located there, so both penthouse and temple look acceptable to me, with the penthouse being a bit more convenient.

[X] Karag Nar penthouse

[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money. The funds will largely go projects within the Karaz Ankor - your tower for one, but also investing in the Undumgi or Ulrikadrin, or purchasing goods made by Dwarven artisans or sold in the markets of Barak Varr.

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.
[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there

[X] Join Karak Azul as they raid and scout in force the other portions of the Karak.
[X] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.

That's the point where Dwarves stop considering you a manling and just put you in a category of your own.
Do we need to actually keep the rep around for that? Or does it get "stored" after use?
I get the treatment would not be the same as if they owed us, but it not like they can go "we gave you a sword, so you can leave now, whoever you are".

Reputation and Favor are two different things. Latter is debt owed, former is how much they like you. One is for spending, other persists until you do something dwarfs really do not like..

Does dwarf rep start getting harder to get the more you have?

No, but the more you have the less difference more makes.

Dwarf rep and dwarf favours are different for that reason. You've got (numbers off the top of my head, check charsheet for accurate information) thirtysomething dwarf favours, which are yet to be spent, and fiftysomething dwarf rep, which is the total of all your earnings.

I don't think anyone expected our visit to Thorgrim to pan out quite like this.

Despite everything, I think I like it.

The great hall, the grudge archives and the scenes leading up to them are marvelous.
They vividly showcase the grandeur of the Dawi and their tragedy, a forlorn contrast that embodies the bleak status quo, a tragedy made more so due to the fact that much of their woe is brought on by the very same thing that enabled their glory, their bloody-minded perseverance and respect for tradition.

The world changed, but Dawi didn't, and they suffered for it.

The world keeps changing, and so must the Dawi or suffer for it again, or perhaps even perish.

The New Holds realize this, and if the Karaz Ankor is to thrive again, so must the Old Holds and the High King.

I hope Belegar's future success and consequent changes in the wider world that will hopefully ensue, manages to convince them that there is something more than a glorious Doom available to the Dwarf race.

Thankfully, it seems that Thorgrim is open to being convinced, or he wouldn't have sent a fleet of flying warmachines, headed by a Prince.

This actually makes me more likely to support a lengthier stay in Karak Eight Peaks than before. I underestimated just how narrow-minded Dwarfs can be.

I've actually been giving considerable idle thought to this since we got the coin. The ability to embody the Protector and assure people of your honest good intent via slaughtering greenskins seems like it might do wonders for the purpose of persuading the people that some modicum of loyalty could actually mean something this time. It's one of my potential destinations after 8 peaks.
