Don’t think of it as dying; just as leaving early

Hasn't higher rolls been good most of the quest? Is that a specific difference, or was the required number just that high?
I'm curious BoneyM about what caused this. Was it a result of the Younger Holds contributing more dwarf power then the Old Holds bar the singular exception of Kragg The Grim? Was it Baragor embracing a nontraditional mindset? I'm very curious about any light you could cast on this.As far as I can see, Karak Eight Peaks has a brighter future than any Hold east of Black Fire Pass." He points at the Book, which stopped having its pages flipped as the Elder turned to watch. "That Karak is three thousand years dead. If the one that exists today holds no interest to you, I have no business here."
Heresy! Being rich is always good!
Belegar just mouthed off the High King and poured dirt all over his entire national doctrine for both pragmatic and ideological reasons, more or less. Publically.Hasn't higher rolls been good most of the quest? Is that a specific difference, or was the required number just that high?
That's a pretty broad spread of religions. Looking good.shrines to Shallya, Ulric, Myrmidia, Ursun, and the Lady. You also receive a few unexpected requests, and after a word to an equally bemused King Belegar, you plot out the future locations of shrines to Grimnir and Valaya.
Based on that, I'm guessing the bad result is Dwarven civil war.Hm. So that was the good result, and I shudder to think what a worse roll would've resulted in. This is probably a result of Belegar's trait, and the fact his hold was reclaimed mostly by younger Holds alongside humans/halflings?
I mean, yes, but he also did it after being spectacularly successful. Which usually merits some slack. Certainly you wouldn't expect 'now never ever come back' to be the good result.Belegar just mouthed off the High King and poured dirt all over his entire national doctrine, more or less. Publically.
Holy shit, Belebro spitting straight fire, Thorgrim just got roasted"If you can keep the fight going until a Throng gets there, we may be able to double the harvest of avenged Grudges. How long can your foothold last?"
"How long can yours?" King Belegar responds, and you fight to keep your expression neutral.

Depends on the Dwarf. Thorgrim doesn't exactly act like most of his predecessors though, so I'd have thought he'd be more open minded. Plus Kragg didn't seem to massively care and he's supposed to be ultra-traditionalist.It bears remembering that these are dwarfs. Reasonable about tradition they are not.
What is the beef between Thorgrim and Belegar anyway? I thought they get along rather well?
What we got is that "slack" I suppose. Dwarfs are notoriously stubborn. Throgrim is notoriously stubborn, and he gave up on actual rebuilding of Karaks in this Quest, it seems. Or puts it a distant second to dwarf race going out with a bag like they are all took a Slayer's Oath.I mean, yes, but he also did it after being spectacularly successful. Which usually merits some slack. Certainly you wouldn't expect 'now never ever come back' to be the good result.
I'd honestly be shocked for that on even a natural one. What was far more likely is a lines is drawn in dwarven society between the younger holds who are in a reconquest mood after the success in K8P, and the really old ones who're stuck in the strike out a grudge in the book mood. In short they stop talking with the others, and cooperation goes down the drain, which risks Grudges being entered into the Book if something horrible happens like a Hold falling as a result.Based on that, I'm guessing the bad result is Dwarven civil war.
