Feel free to structure a plan, I thought turning it into an exercise for him to solve would be better than just telling him what to do, and it seems equally arbitrary and pointless to withhold all advantages like magic. He pledged to a King with vast resources, that too is a reality that a vassal and ruling Lord has to face and account for.

Edit: Also, as for "we're not going to be here to hold his hand", no but we can provide him no less than we have for every other pet PC, for example. Next month we could craft him items to make him a better talker, items to make it harder to be assassinated or killed, and give him some helpers who aren't tied up doing something else (if less capable than a pet murderblender, but still head and shoulders above the current threats he faces).

I agree that he should make his own plans, and execute them himself too.

E.g. He doesn't need Ser Richard to capture some scrub knight, he has household guards and those are the people who are still going to be around come morning.

[X] Plan: Your Own Man
-[X] "You have asked for my advice, and I would offer my perspective on situation as I see it if you would still have it, but perhaps we should address the crux of the issue set out before you."
-[X] "Not every manner of ruling is suitable to each individual, akin to the fact that what works for captain of a trading vessel does not at all reflect the challenges faced by he who commands a war dromond."
-[X] "For you, a logistician's challenge." Adopt lecturing pose #27.
--[X] "The people of your fief insult and disparage you openly, this encouraged by your enemies openly, yet you retain tenuous hold over the Keep and servants. Men who serve you would instinctually bend to your commands as that is what they are raised to, yet you have likely issued few to none."
--[X] Lecturing pose #49: "You are then presented the challenge: your mother has directed all of the servants of the keep to her pleasing and rhythm. Taking away this privilege by simply assuming your rights to the household's direction immediately asserts your authority in this arena, making other commands seem natural as the incumbent Lord."
--[X] "The obstacles you face: Your mother countermanding your authority. The rousing of your subjects to discontent by outside hostile agents. A ruthless rival claimant loitering on your lands."
--[X] Lecturing pose #63: "Your resources: In the here and now, Sorcery granting mental fortitude or a diplomat's adroit tongue and a counselor and advisor with nearly four decades of experience navigating one of this realm's most perilous courts as a sounding board if you find it necessary in your initial planning."
-[X] "You have loyal retainers my Lord, make use of them to mutual benefit and should you find skills lacking in them or yourself my realm has training and advisors of the utmost quality to develop the abilities you require."

I didn't change much but I want him to learn that he needs to take charge, he needs to trust in himself, the people around him including us and that men are not stagnant, training and development is both available and encouraged.

I don't see why we can't stay over night to talk with him and give advice, in addition to buffing him up.

He might need to accomplish a lot to really get his house in order, but the biggest hurdle, where our magical assistance will be most valuable, is likely to be within the next 24 hours.

Seems fine.

I'm disappointed you declined the chance to name the plan "I'll make a man out of you"

My apologies, I really should have after hearing that they're removing that song from the remake.

WTAF

No seriously, the song and montage about how a woman can not only compete with but excel in a male dominated society and profession, to the point of leading her group and pulling them all into a greater more cohesive team is apparently sexist or other such nonsense.

What The Actual Fuck.

In other news Unreliable Narrators are a tool of the patriarchy to normalise problematic themes -.-

If you can't tell I really like that song :(

They are doing what!?
Madness, madness and stupidity.

Should we ask Rhaella if she's okay with hanging around to help this guy? If that's still the plan anyway, the phrasing is sort of ambiguous on how long she'd be helping him.

She is a Targaryen, so asserting her place as #1 mom by beating up the mothers of other lords would appeal to her, but it seems rude to volunteer her for something without asking first.

What is getting remade?

It's less voluntary and more Rhaella always looking for an excuse to be more involved. I mean for Christ's sake, she is literally unable to do anything in all the cases where we're doing high level diplomacy with Outsiders, or battling Demigods, but in the cases where we've had some difficulties and gaffes, they've mostly been in or related to Westeros. She's one of, if not, the most experienced at Courtier work in our realm, not counting vassals who have to wait on the sidelines. So far, she has made some diplomacy checks that have made every other roll we do come across better when talking to Westerosi Lords just by pure dint of association.

TL;DR Rhaella has really good PR. Let her use it.

Since she has finished her diplomacy corps (which we need to assign somewhere. Maybe within the Empire to smooth some things?) we can send her to start shoring up support in Westeros... along with a body guard capable of taking on a castle by themselves if need be.

...Ser Richard? I mean, he's the onlt one that pops on my mind whenever I thought of the Best Swordsman in Prime Material.

Plus you know, with her advice and some buffs to sew up the execution end of things, this whole thing will be done in a week at the most.

Ah, how I hate thee, Monday mornings.
Because Sunday has to end sometime, unfortunately.

I understand and empathize with how you all feel, having gone through a Monday yesterday (the wonder of time zones). Hopefully, once you got over the first hill in the morning things got better. Time waits for none of us, unfortunately.

[X] Crake

You don't have Mondays. You hate the necessity of work and the regular end of your temporary false sense of freedom.

Also I'm sick of remakes. I shouldn't have to watch some old piece of crap just to appreciate the nostalgia value of whatever new remake you spent all your money on.

[And "I'll make a man out of you" is more or less the only part of that fill that was worth remembering. Why would you take it out of the remake?]
