I can understand that point of view.

I mostly put those parts in because the current view of Viserys is "unreasonably paranoid Dragon King who is trying to fuck with the Faith diguised as a begging brother of all things while holding my friends hostage".

As far as impressions go this is a very poor one.
Would something like this be a little better in your opinion?

[] Plan LG Viserys
-[] She is right. Your actions were wrong and too hasty. Accept her pledge, release your prisoners and leave the Conclave.
-[] Ask Danielle to push for allowing mages to self regulate without the Seven looming over their shoulders.
-[] Ask to meet with Danielle and Lucan, as well as any other Chosen of their choosing, at some sort of neutral location of their choosing to discuss the realities of being caught between a War of the Gods and how best to resolve our differences.
-[] Extend an invitation to Danielle (and her companions if she so chooses to invite them) for a tour of Sorcerer's Deep

Took out all the justification and most of the hardier requests, which might be more palatable.

The problem with this plan is there is no build up, they have this image in their head of us as the villain. We need to prove that we're just as nuanced and three-dimensional as they are, as Viserys bitterly found out. That involves eating some humble pie, taking our knocks, and being reasonable and patient with them. They will ask their questions, we will answer them, we will ask any of ours, and then we'll get down to the nitty gritty of our motivations.

Okay, I do feel the need to react to this after it keeps happening:

This post is adding literally nothing to the discussion except reaffirming blind hatred and condescension towards... pretty much everyone who isn't Viserys.

Please cease this behavior.
Now let's be fair Azel, you were no small purveyor of that attitude yourself when you were playing. Perhaps not the blind hatred, but it was very convenient to dehumanize our enemies.

[X]Crake

In the end we haven't been remotely concerned about Lucan and Danelle being an actual threat combat wise. It doesn't seem credible to say we were that worried about needing leverage.

I dislike this. Losing. It's not a pleasant feeling, in no small part because I played an active part in it for once.

Danelle isn't actually expecting this to work. It does give her and Lucan the advantage, but she won't expect it.

Lucan has been winning this entire time by proving himself reasonable. Maybe we win by doing the same thing.

That said, man it really seems like the writers are just messing with established characterization just so they can "subvert expectations" and get everyone arguing about it online.

And I'm not even denying that, but that doesn't make it any better.

That is... harsh...

That's also fair. I figured that the "back and forth questions and answers" bit might have been better served after Danielle and Lucan were not in a compromised emotional state from having their friends held hostage (since even if we say we are to release them they still have yet to see them safe and sound), so I figured that bit would have been better suited at some later date IC without anything that might majorly cloud their judgement.

But you're generally better than me at this stuff, so you likely have the right of it.

I am aware, but the punchline is literally "Look how much these people suck!" and the thread could really do with less of that sentiment.
I have always advocated that we have treated Westeros as a whole as a massive joke and that behavior would turn around and bite us in the ass. Honestly, I've been looking forward to something like this since Gareth the Green or whatever his name is was first introduced in an interlude now several years old.

Granted, it's much less pleasant now that I'm participating instead of reading, but still.

GUYS THAT WAS A JOKE, IT'S ABOUT HOW THE SHOWRUNNERS OF GAME OF THRONES HAVE ALSO BEEN SUBVERTING EXPECTATIONS ABOUT SEASON 8 AND ATTRACTING DRAMA, I DIDN'T REALLY MEAN IT.

What are the legitimate plans at this point? I am getting them confused, I think I like GoldFish's, and I can't seem to find Crake's? Is there any other ?

The salt... First time seeing it from so close...

We're getting punked, I'm telling you, azel and DP are punking us.
And they managed to push you into LG stupidity by morality shaming you.
DP wouldn't punk us, he's a softie and a pushover.

That said, it is possible Azel pushed him over in order to punk us.

Nah, that would be silly. After all, it's not like anyone would ever take the idea of behaving in a moral manner as Viserys seriously ever again. They're too smart to do that.

The problem the thread is having right now, is reading the room.

As in, take in the atmosphere, take a deep breath, funnel any rage you feel into something constructive, and try not to say anything inflammatory for the next week.

Not saying I'm above any of that. I said some pretty crass jokes earlier that were frustrating to deal with for some people, and went on several rants throughout the day and last night that weren't appreciated.

And despite trying to distance myself from things, I keep coming back because I care too much and I'm only upsetting people I swear up and down I'm trying not to take my anger out on.

See you in your nightmares~
Nah that's what the Vodka is for.

To be honest I never thought they were a joke. A gigantic future pain in my ass, a colossal shit stain spread across a continent, a land festering with so many problems it'd take a normal man a hundred years to fix it yes, but not a joke.

I see this as a first step in fixing our Faith problem. Getting them to actually see the threats hovering on the horizon instead of staring at our scaly red ass all the goddamn day.

Also sticking with the Goldfish vote because until I get an explanation on the innocent KINGKILLER that just so happened to be created from our ancestor who was so pious he starved himself to death I'm not eating a single spoonful of crow.
