Damn. We are over-running the month again.

@DragonParadox, could we backdate the remaining quarterfinals and one "interview" to the 29th?

I've wanted to broadcast the swearing in of the first members of the 3rd Legion in Tolos in the evening of that day.

So looking forward to the upcoming Team Ringer vs Team Arcanum fight, how would you guys feel about Asha asking to borrow some stuff from your armory for Walder? She feels that him going against them with no magic equipment would make him almost more of a liability than help.

If Team Arcanum are cool with it, yeah (and I feel that we should have Viserys be mildly supportive of the idea), I think there is an awareness to the combatants that this competition's implied rules (your own stuff) are flexible in the pursuit of putting on an awesome fight.

Like how if Amrelath wanted in, it was as his own team (glad how his pride made that an easy sell), and how Varys is for using Viserys' magic Vs Amrelath and how he would probably be ok with that.

I've never really thought much about it and my science knowledge is weak, but barring extreme supernatural explanations, Planetos must have some sort of oddly eccentric orbit and/or erratic axial tilt.

Unusually dense planetary crust/mantle nearer to the surface on one "side" of the planet?

Ugh, my ignorance shows...

Planetos has some kind of weird Polar Warp Gate effect like Warhammer Fantasy Battle, remember.

I would bet on it being at least somewhat due to the fact that physics in this setting operate partially on Consensus.

Which is a scary thought, but something we already knew when we learned of both the Dawn Age, and of how reality gets a little "weirder" and creepier the further North you go. And of course the Fey of the Reach and their plans to turn part of the world, or even the whole world, back into a story book setting where everyone has only about as much personal agency as they do.

Asha is planing to ask for the loan of a Valyrian steel sword and the Reinforced Segmented Dread-Wing Full plate so he would have some means of flight (as one of the rest of them do).
Huh. I wasn't aware that we have transformer armor...

Reminder here that all of Team Arcanum can fly and that Mereth is the worst flyer of them.

I'm not sure if Walder should really go from landbound muggle to swimming with the Dire Sharks like that. His maneuverability (Average) means that Mereth (Good) and Nuri (Perfect) can tear him to confetti without issue, especially with his armor bonus being halved in flight.

Giving him a spare Launcher seems like a better idea against aerial targets.

We've had it for a while now, but haven't found anyone to give it to quite yet.

My signature has an up to date list of our armory's current contents, broken down by type.

I'm generally fine with handing it out, but sending someone without aerial combat experience to fight Team Arcanum in what amounts to chainmail is one of those ideas that will look hilariously bad in hindsight.

I thought of that but most of his opponents have very good chances to resist alchemical DCs. On the other hand good point about the maneuverability specifically since Walder has no experience flying so he could not be expected to compensate.

Launcher and VS plate then.

Team Arcanum do not object.

Maege didn't want us there because we're hard to explain, and a mere mage in our service is far easier to dismiss. The Harbinger is anything but subtle, and goes against the entire point.

*looks over vote-tally*

Huh.
Azel-supported plan is the one with less politicking in it.
Well, I'll be.

You know I've always been confused why people find the whole eternal winter thing in westeros so weird. Yeah, it can't happen on a planetary scale, but surely an incredible eccentric orbit around the star would do the trick.

Wouldn't an eccentric orbit mean that winter would come and go at a constant rate? Even if it lasted years it would be timed rather than the mess of random years it is in original cannon

That's not the weird part. The Eternal Winter part is basically analogous with the end times and NOTHING than with weird weather patterns. It just so happens to manifest in biting blizzards rather than warpstorms.
