here he referred to a) making a clockwork body and b) MK destroying the connection with the original body. Both to the question of "how we deal with the old body still being in Illithid's posession"

Really, exploding the Deep One fortress is something we can do simply by just moving on it like the fist of an angry god, but that would break our truce, whereas simply destroying the body would escalate our little cold war quite a bit.

Edit: The ironic thing about this is that the Deep Ones are/threatened to fight a PR war against us, but they barely understand human mindsets so they are trying to fight on the most unfair playing field for them.

If their cover story was better, we'd be much more likely to simply buy it, too.

But "mysteriously defeating this mysterious mindflayer" is totally enough for some mortals, right?

Or it could be a double-bluff, and they expect us to go there.

i worry that allowing her to return to consciousness now would let the Illithids learn of our discovery.

We are on a deadline now. We don't have time to work that out now. I updated my plan to bottle her after the procedure until we can sever the sympathetic link to her corpse or have a god do it for us. We'll have some time at that point.

I mean... I would like to approach our renewed hostilities with the Deep Ones in a more organized fashion. Though I sense you vote more out of frustration with people trying to make a 'perfect plan' rather than merely accepting a 'good' plan, so I'm not really expecting much else right now.

Though from your other comments, I don't think anyone here is seriously considering giving up on a perfectly good research subject for anything, for spite of the Deep Ones if nothing else.

I'm not sure what your issue is with the alternative plans? I would have just voted for your original non-silly plan if it was mechanically possible, but the curse ritual requires an hour. To enact your plan would need a minimum of three hours of ritual casting. There is no way the Illithids wouldn't act to fuck us over, even if only to interfere in such a way as to prevent us from recovering her soul.

@Goldfish, I agree on sending a divination on whether she'll answer a call beforehand.
probably also asking if having Ser Reyne call would work better.

I'm not sure about the "seconds is not enough for them to parse", tho :/
These guys are explicitly super-intelligent and I wouldn't bet on them not getting what we mean and still fucking something up.

1. Divine two things. First, will we encounter any problems with pulling Jeyne's soul into the useful body, and second, will she make the saving throw after all our munchkinnery?
2. Have Jeyne's soul pulled into the puppet.
3. While that was going on, Viserys is spending an hour-long ritual to force a Bloatbomb onto Jeyne's body. It rapidly putrefies the body provided she dies and turns everything to acid, presumably rendering it useless for the purposes of any sympathetic rituals to affect Jeyne.

We should do that only if a divination "will the acid'splosion leave anything that will be useful for purposes of retoring a body" returns with a negative.
We restored trophies from less.

And the spell's description doesn't have anything about everything turning to acid - only that the body putrifies and an acid explosion happening if it is disturbed.

That's an entirely different spell effect than the Bestow Greater Curse spell and not one that should work across such a range. We can ask DP about it tomorrow, but I'm not going to hold my breath. It might be the perfect solution, though, if he allows it.

Plan updated with some Divination, but not the Bloatbomb spell (which I don't think will be possible, pending DP approval) or asking if she'll make the saving throw. With a Will saving throw DC of 31, she would need a Nat 20 to resist without serious buffs, which I doubt her insensate body is currently protected by.

[X] Attempt to rescue Jeyne;
-[X] Use multiple Divination spells, along with assistance from Vee's Hallucinogenic Smoke & Augury spells, to determine A) if it will be safe to temporarily wake Jeyne to warn her come back when we call for her, explaining that she will understand when the time is right (if it is safe, do so, if it is not, we'll have to chance it without warning her first), B) is what we plan to attempt possible, and C) would examining Roger decrease our odds of successfully freeing Jeyne.
-[X] If the plan has a chance of succeeding, after fully preparing themselves (using Divine Insight, Grand Destiny, Nine Lives, etc.), the group attempts to draw Jeyne's soul and consciousness fully into the puppet body.
-[X] Malarys will use the sympathetic connection the puppet body shares with her original body to curse Jeyne using the Staff of Ages, reducing her Constitution attribute to one point.
--[X] Lya prepares Malarys to use the Staff of Ages first by activating her Bead of Karma to increase her Divine caster level to 20th, then casting Moment of Greatness and Harmonic Chorus on herself. She then cancels her Moment of Greatness spell to increase the caster level bonus from Harmonic Chorus to +4 while using Inspired Spell to place a 26th level Owl's Insight spell on Malarys, raising his Wisdom attribute to 39 and his Wisdom bonus to +14 (increasing the save DC of Bestow Greater Curse to 31). She places another Moment of Greatness and Harmonic Chorus spell on him before he completes the ritual, so that he can use them in conjunction with his own Bead of Karma to increase his caster level to 22.
--[X] Timing it so that he completes the spell just as Malarys finishes cursing Jeyne's true body, Viserys uses Ancestral Awakening to learn the Maximize Spell Metamagic feat then casts a Maximized Nightmare spell using Wild Arcana to inflict 10 points of damage upon her, slaying her instantly.
--[X] As the original body dies, Dany will simultaneously assist Lya in locating the Astral link shared between Jeyne and her flesh puppet so that she can use the full weight of her Mythic Power and deep understanding of the mysteries of the human soul to funnel Jeyne's liberated soul into the vacant puppet via Inspired Spell (nebulously borrowing from such Divine spells as Cyclic Reincarnation, Resurrection, Magic Jar, etc).
--[X] Vee remains on standby to assist however she can, from providing additional Divine magic to the impromptu ritual to using Alter Fortune should it prove necessary.
-[X] If successful, immediately return her to a Smoky Confinement bottle until a ritual to destroy her original body can be devised or we can receive Divine aid (from Yss, the Merling King, etc) to accomplish it.
