Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
There's also Ling Qi's way to consider. Her mental state and her actions can directly impact her cultivation. Trying to build a home domain by ignoring her bonds with her family and never going home sounds like someone shooting themselves in the foot. If we pick up mother moon as a patron, we might be able to get some of the invested AP back as well.
This is plainly not true, we weren't ignoring them in the first place, we weren't sharing enough, which is now fixed. The vote is just to decide if we'll spend significantly more time with them, but we're not gonna ignore them any harder them we ignore our friends and we'll still be able to make one of votes in the future when the opportunity arise.

Saying it'll be good for our domain is very much speculation and it's not like that 1 lost AP couldn't go toward stuff that we know for sure will improve our domain.

We are essentially sacrificing close to one month of cultivation progress if we choose to spend more time with our family. How significant would this have been if we had done so in the Outer Sect? Not very. We would still have been Green 1/Bronze 1 with some of our important arts cultivated as far as they could go. We would still have defeated Chu Song and made it into the Inner Sect. There's even a good chance we would have defeated Ji Rong, although we would have most likely lost.

A single month matters a lot less now than it did back then since our cultivation progress is slower. We would only need to worry about not meeting our goals as a result of this if we are barely meeting them in the first place.

EDIT: Actually, meeting our goals might be a concern regardless. What cultivation level is Bao Qingling at? She's ranked in the range we need to finish at, and she mentioned hiding her cultivation level before in order to advance to the rank she's currently at.

Yeah, this. One month's value of ap in a few years isn't that much and if it prevents us from meeting Shenhua's goal, we're in trouble in the first place.

Yeah, let's keep in mind, Mom is cultivating now, and Biyu has shown great affinity with spirits so she is a shoe-in.

A year or two in a crunch, while Mom will be youthful/strong for, what, another two hundred years or so, is very little compared to accomplishing the task in front of us.

I want to be convinced this AP won't hurt us, tho.
The outing cost us 5 YSS in total. Imagine how a conversation about that might go.

Qingge: Can you really afford to spend such sums on a mere outing?
Ling Qi: ... do you know how much my cultivation costs each week?
Qingge: Ten Yellow stones? Or... perhaps Twenty?
Ling Qi: Oh, my sweet summer child...
How much does it actually cost?
I wonder if we throw enough money at her Mom will be able to make Silver...

From what I remember Silver was when the whole "Mortal lifetime injuries reversed" thing happened.

For that reason, I think it's where the bigge st, longevity jump (that she could possibly acheive) would be, but I imagine it would also be nearly impossible for her.

In addition to the talent degradation, she has a LOT more mortal injuries to revert than we did.

I dunno.

We should probably hire a consultant for that sort of thing, or just ask Suyin for some help.

Probably an after Sect thing tho...
I think she should be able to make it to silver with steady effort and years/decades of cultivation, if that's what it takes.

Green/Bronze are the big turning points. Yellow/Silver seems doable able to almost everyone that can afford to wait to roll enough 9s and 10s.

Anyone remember where the age expectantly per realm was posted?

A single month may be the difference that we need to thrive. A month of cultivation would expand our skill set and our arts. Plus with missions, jobs, quests and trials, a month can have a lots of benefits. We can't afford to lose a month of cultivation in the sect. It's the foundation of everything we want to build in the futur.

We are in trouble.

It's a ridiculous and punishing pace, that we're keeping pace with Driven Ducal Scions at all is already faintly ludicrous, and our assignment is to keep that pace going for two full years.

We should ask Elder Jiao for some career advice on this.
"But… perhaps as your esteemed Elder, I might offer some advice on your chosen career."

Ling Qi blinked, taken back by the bitterness in the Elder's expression. "...I would be most thankful, sir?" She half asked, glancing at Xin, whose smile had faded.

"I know much of reformers, and you have chosen a miserable path," he replied blandly. "There is neither happiness nor satisfaction to be found as a shadow. Be mindful in choosing what you are forced to discard on the roadside of the Way." He had faded away by the time his last words echoed in the small stone room.
Spending more time with her family is entirely in keeping with her Way, and I do not wish for her to discard it.

So it seems like Bao Qingling is Green 5. I think we should be able to reach this level by the end of our time in the sect comfortably, even if we sacrifice one month. She's on the production track though, so I guess this might be a red herring? It seems unlikely we'll reach Green 6 regardless of the option we pick, however. We might barely be able to make it if we maximize our cultivation time. The status quo option is definitely better in the case we need Green 6 to reach our final planned ranking. Has anyone calculated our expected cultivation speed for the foreseeable future?

No one's asserting discarding her family.

It's literally a choice between the status quo where we make a bunch of time for them off screen and can still interact with them via normal SL actions or mid-turn flash points, versus investing a guaranteed AP on them every single turn.

That's kinda the point though. The goal Shenhua set for us is just short of impossible so us not meeting it is a real concern even without spending an AP on explicitly not cultivation/related activities.

That's not what I said she was discarding
I said she was discarding spending more time with her family.

If we had a more cohesive build, it could have been doable. Unfortunately, we have to be a competent face puncher, thief ,spy , musician , support, scout, scout officer, diplomat, noble. We have to make this into a good build and a month of cultivation could be the difference that we need.

Edit:
Plus we already see our family from times to times. If we stay for the moments that matter then it's enough, because we're working hard for the future.

It'd be harder, but given our particular choice of Way, spending the AP now should have benefits with not getting chokepointed later as easily. While time is short, I don't want to wind up with the Way of The Salaryman, investing so much time and energy into the prosperity of the family that they have no time or energy left for the family, save for brief moments at night.

"I suppose I will just accept my good fortune," her mother replied with a small smile, before glancing to the side and having her eyes widen. "Biyu no! Do not put your hands in that!"

Ling Qi darted over, expertly removing her little sister from the desserts basket, much to the little girl's protests and the amusement of the muse in her head. This had been the right decision.
Biyu: "But I discovered the dimension of sweets!"

If and that is IF this AP cost guarantees events that not only auto-progresses both Qingge and Biyu's SL up without us choosing, but also guarantees support in raising our spirit's SL as well, then you'd have my vote for that.

It would be nice if we could figure out IC exactly what level we need to be at to reach our final ranking goal. It's something I'd have expected Ling Qi to ask about by now.

WOOT!

Lil Bro is back and he inspired Mother to be all she could be!!!

Nice!

Right. Family is Worth some devotion to.

Especially with our recent revelations and domain.

[X] In the future, devote more time to your household and your family. (-1AP in future turns)

We dont have to be all off that. These are just things people want us to be. At some point we probably have to narrow down her job via votes ( oh boy, i can see the saltmines already), because doing it all just doesnt work

'What level are those around Rank 525?' would be a useful thing to know. But with Ducals on the rise and shaking up the entire board i'm not sure how much it'd actually tell us.

Unfortunately, aside from "Maybe Green 6" that depends more on contribution points and luck in who Ling Qi challenges when going up the ranks than anything so simple as that.

[X] While you will be present as much as you can, your household cannot be top priority yet. (Status quo)

What indications do we have that we need Green 6?

It's true that we can't find out much other than cultivation levels, but knowledge of cultivation levels is what we need the most since we can pick who to challenge.
