@DragonParadox, seeing as we are nearing the end of the month and people are already planning for the next one, would you mind going through the Research Actions-list I compiled and assigning relevant amounts of Success-points to each action there?

Also, please think again on those numbers that have (??) near them, I took some of those from before the new system, (like Dany's draconic-cleric-teaching), or from the very first days of it, when everything was kinda in flux.

Also also, I kinda took that system you said "makes sense" about and ran with it whereas books are concerned, so they are now a somewhat separate action in themselves.
Book study mechanics: each character has a single "free" minor action a month, which can be assigned to monotonous and easily backgrounded tasks, like writing or researching books/lore.

Additional study of more than one per month is possible, but requires actual IC-spent time.

Also also also, this action is not yet a Research action fully written up, but me keeping track of what we have ready to start on it, ideally that's not going to ask any research of us at all and we could just focus on making Worm work for us as a god-scalpel, which will be a RA.
[] The Amulet that Varys wore is a potent defence, but with what you know the the Golden Company and Tiamat's investment in the false Blackfyre, it might be turned to use as a snare.
-[] Seek a way to modify the device in this way, and set the blessings of your divine allies upon it as hooks to catch the power of any god trapped by its presence.
--[] Gods currently diplomanced into taking part: Yss, Jazzirian

i'll be avaliable in a few hours of napping from now, will edit if anything ready by then.

Hm... so I assume I should track book writing and reading in the turn plan sheets then?

@egoo, then it would be great if you could give me a run-down on books currently being written.

*sigh* here goes me actually sleeping...

Currently writting:
Richard 91%
Lya 73%
Maelor 89%

Subjects:
Sir Richard - Martial primer that would allow you to train a very limited number of martial adepts
Lya - On the foundations of magic and spell-casting, including tips on spell creation
Maelor - Book of Demonology and Abyssal lore.

Currently reading:
All sworn Erynies - Draconis Compendium achieve the "Warrior's Insight" for a permanent +2 to Attack and Damage against creatures of the Dragon type.

I was kinda hoping to get @Goldfish on planning who should read what soon-ish...
We have quite a few decent bonuses avaliable from our library.
[] Book of the Tides. A reader who studies this book for a week and makes a DC 14 Wisdom check in the process can learn enough of the way and culture of the tritons to gain a +2 competence bonus on all Diplomacy, Bluff, and Sense Motive checks regarding them as well as +2 to all knowledge checks relating to their history and society.

[] Canticle of Decay. Content: +3 on knowledge rolls regarding Daemons; +2 to gather information if one studies the book for one day before making a Gather Information or Diplomacy roll for the purposes of locating a cult [the bonus is permanent once read for those with perfect recall]. The book was given out in many copies to Inquisition as a guide to finding daemon-worshippers in wake of Tyrosh invasion.

[] Codex of The World Seed. Content: Arcane formulas relating to the current conditions of the ethereal plane, allowing a mage who studies it for an hour before casting a spell that creates an extra-dimensional space to work the magic as though affected by the Extend Spell metamagic feat.

[] Draconic Compendium. Content: Any reader not already drawing wisdom and lore from the Dragon Dreams who spends a month studying this compilation may make a DC 20 Wisdom Check which if successful offers unique insight into the mind, mannerisms, and history of dragons, allowing them to choose one of the following benefits:
  1. Warrior's Insight: +2 to Attack and Damage against creatures of the Dragon type
  2. Way of Elder Magic: +1 Competence Bonus to spell DCs for one school of magic
  3. Lore of Wyrms: Gains the ability to re-roll one failed Knowledge check/week
Note: A character who has gained one of the tome's boons may not gain another upon re-reading, unless they have suffered some dramatic shift in perspective.

[] In Memory of Deaht. Content: After two weeks of study a reader who succeeds on a DC 25 Knowledge (Religion) check gains +4 Competence Bonus to saves against the supernatural abilities of vampires and +1 to AC against them. One who succeeds on a DC 25 Knowledge (Arcana) check gains the ability to count as having +5 HD for the purposes of controlling undead. One who succeeds at both gains the above benefits and does not automatically shift alignments to Evil upon becoming a sentient undead (conditions that would strip all rationality such a becoming an allip negate this insight).

[] Journals of the Betrayed. Content: +5 to all knowledge rolls relating to the Others, their magic, and their interactions with mortals, A reader who studies all the volumes for one week and makes a DC 12 Intelligence or Wisdom check at the end gains a permanent +1 to saves against cold spells and necromancy, increased to +2 against the magic of the Winter-Touched specifically.

[] Meditations on the Infinite. Content: Grants +1 competence bonus to will saves if you succeed on a DC 15 wisdom check while studying it. Otherwise it applies a -2 malus to will saves.

[] Scrolls of Lost Lineages. Content: A character who studies this book for seven days and makes a DC 12 Intelligence check during the process learns enough of the arcane courtesies of the Forty Families to gain +2 Knowledge (Nobility & Royalty) regarding the Forty Families of Valyria as well as +1 Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive when interacting with specters, constructs, or other time-lost survivors of the Doom.

[] The Bitter Cup. Content: A character who studies this book over a period of one week and makes a DC 18 Intelligence check gains +2 Sense Motive and Diplomacy against sentient undead and +1 Competence bonus to hit against them with weapons and spells.

[] The Light of Creation. Content: A mage of at least 4th level who spends thirty days studying this text can gain the following benefits if he or she passes the requisite Intelligence or Wisdom check:
Novice: -5% material cost of Conjuration (Calling) spells as long as the being called has the fire type; +1 insight bonus to diplomacy attempts with Outsiders with the fire type (DC 15)
Adept: -15% material cost of Conjuration (Calling) spells as long as the being called has the fire type; +3 insight bonus to diplomacy attempts with Outsiders with the fire type (DC 20)
Master: -35% material cost of Conjuration (Calling) spells as long as the being called has the fire type; +7 insight bonus to diplomacy attempts with Outsiders with the fire type; ??? (DC 30)

[] Voice of Shadow. Content: A mage who studies the book for one week, making a DC 18 Intelligence or Wisdom check in the process, can have his or her Shadow Descriptor illusions count as 5% more real. The effect is doubled for classes with an inherent link to shadow.

[] Divine Permutations Content: Serves as a primer relating to religion and the Spheres of Being. Additionally, having studied it grants +4 Competence Bonus to Sense Motive or Knowledge rolls made in response to a false or misleading statement of a cleric or other divine servitor related to the power or nature of their god, making it a useful tool for detecting those who would hide proscribed cults and rituals behind the trappings of recognized faiths.
as a side note, I really want to know what the third tier of Light of Creation hides.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll look though this once I am done with the current interlude.

@Snowfire great updates.:)

It was a really nice surprise when I got to the end of the first one and saw the next link I was.

On a more substantive note very good job capturing Mab, though it is a pity we have not gotten to the point in the thread where Viserys sees and Other so you could not contrast.

Honestly, it was a surprise to me too, but one I probably should have expected given all the time spent planning for these.

Really glad that I captured Mab well, she's a figure we've seen a lot of and a very important one in terms of characterisation. I will say, though, that I feel slightly bad for stealing all these first-uses of straight lines or spells from you. I know that's not really rational, and that they'll be just as powerful or more so when they show up in the quest proper, but there's still an odd niggling to it whenever I hit one. Like I did here.

Another person I'm curious to see Viserys react to is Michel Carpenter

Michael is going to be...interesting for Viserys, when they end up meeting. I'm not sure he's ever met a human with the depth of faith that Michael simply exists in. And he's a genuinely good man, with all that implies. That's probably as much an OCP to Viserys as Viserys is to the Dresdenverse.

or for that mater how Charity reacts to him. Having her wizard daughter saved by a dragon would probably feel like opposite day to poor Charity.

Molly does have a few other things to tell her mother and father before she can explain this, you know. Like what she was saved from.

I know, but it would be interesting to have it all dropped in her lap in one go. It would even be in character for Molly I think Sort of rushing though: "I-sold-my-soul-to-Winter-but-I'm-fine-now."
she didn't really sell her soul though she was more in the immediate vicinity to the mantle when maeve died and so the mantle kind of just latched on to her being a wizard with fae connections and obligations via her being harrys apprentice. Also you know being female and all and a wizard made her the only thing for the mantle to cling on to.

We have, yes. And yet...I'm not sure any of them are quite the same.
Maybe not exactly, he's quite the weird one.

But generally we have met people with that same annoying certainty and confidence. Benerro and Mel do come to my mind.

Maybe the version of himself Abraxxas showed to Lya, only he obviously didn't believe in any higher power but himself, but it's a surprisingly similar impression.

Benerro is actually the closest person to Michael I think we've met. And even then I feel it's a little...off. And that's before we get into how
Michael was trusted to carry around the Grace of a freaking Archangel.

There's faith, and there's something more. Michael falls into the latter category.

I mean thats just trust from the god's sides. I am sure if offered benaro would do the same. The diffrence is in the behaviour of the gods not the mortal.

Just like Mel he does have doubts and a breaking point though. There was that short story with the insane priest kidnapping one of this children. He came close. I'm comparing him to Mel not Benero because their depth of faith is comparable even if Mel is not a nice person.

[X] Goldfish

Well, Moonsong propably appeared Medium-sized here and Aemon doesn't know many Fey that didn't try to toast him in Ymeri's name, so maybe he thinks that's her natural size?

@Goldfish
Are you sure that works out, with Aemon holding land in Volantis and out realm before the two officially merge?

I mean, it won't be a problem for long, but if we take it so lightly an astute politician could likely guess why it won't be a problem for long.
I don't think it will be that much of an issue. Aemon is only a mid-level mage, not someone of incredible importance. That said, I'll try to change the wording a bit.
Also @Goldfish given the outcome of this last fight, we should propably offer him an Assay Spell Resistance Scroll as his level 4 scroll from the price.
I was actually hoping you would list what spells he would want IC. He can select x4 1st level, x3 2nd level, x2 3rd level, and x1 4th level.
@Goldfish, could you please specify that we are offering the title of Vaeroseia for both of them? Not that this ends with confusion and suddenly a Thaemos title.

Also, I would personally prefer not to spoil Moonsong on the Moonchaser. Just tell her that we have a proposal for her once she returns if you must.
I'll add in the Vaeroseia title now.

This is a good time to tell her about the Moonchaser, though. She's just won an important tournament, which was witnessed by millions of people. That's a really big deal for her. Hell, she's gained two levels in two days because of it. Dangling the Moonchaser under her nose now is perfect timing, IMO.

I know, but it would be interesting to have it all dropped in her lap in one go. It would even be in character for Molly I think Sort of rushing though: "I-sold-my-soul-to-Winter-but-I'm-fine-now."
To be fair, she didn't actually sell anything. She didn't have a choice in the matter.

In the words of Harry Dresden: Michael is good people.

Plan updated slightly. New stuff in red.

[X] Plan Gotta Catch'em All!
-[X] Speak with Aemon Naremos.
--[X] Although he was not the ultimate victor of the mage duels, he acquitted himself very well indeed, demonstrating admirable skill as a worker of magic and instinct upon the field of battle. Zherys chose well when he selected Aemon to represent the Mysterium of Volantis, and we believe we have chosen well to offer him land and the title of Vaeroseia in the newly settled Imperial Province of Draconys. It not the most beautiful or bountiful of lands, but it promises great opportunity, lying so near the ruins of Old Valyria. For one who benefits so much from the blood and viscera carved from Fiends and other monstrous creatures, Draconys might serve as quite the fertile hunting ground.
---[X] Sweeten the deal by taking Aemon on a tour of the Hall of Horrors, then give him a general overview of the Larder and it's contents. The intent is not to show off our exploits, but to instead demonstrate to Aemon the potential reagents and creatures he can potentially gain access to by entering our service.
----[X] Remind Aemon that, should he enter our service, he would be the first Mysterium member to gain admission as a Scholarium Mage of the Imperium, with all the rights and prestige that entails. He need not forswear the Mysterium or his loyalty to Volantis, for they too are our allies. It is our hope that he will be able to act as a bridge between the two organizations, as well as the Imperium and Volantis.

--[X] Regardless of his decision, present Aemon with his prizes and congratulate him on his performance:
---[X] 3,500 IM, Amulet of Tears, Bracers of Arcane Freedom, Earrings of Arcane Acuity (w/Goggles of the Golden Sun effect), Gloves of the Starry Sky (w/Dispelling Cords effect), Handy Haversack, Healing Belt (+2 Constitution), Launcher, Masterwork Light Crossbow (w/2 quivers of 20 bolts), Masterwork Quarterstaff, Quill of Scribing, Ring of Continual Flame, Ring of Sustenance, Valyrian Steel Dagger(SD Festival Edition)
---[X] Alchemical Items: Antiplague (x3), Antitoxin (x3), Auran Mask (x3), Healing Salve (x6), Vermin Repellent (x6), Smokestick (x6), Sunrod (x3), Fungal Stun Vial (x6), Sleep-Smoke (x6), Alchemist's Fire (x6), Liquid Ice (x3), Thunderstone (x3), Tanglefoot Bag (x3)

---[X] Scrolls: His choice of four 1st level scrolls, three 2nd level, two 3rd level, and one 4th level. We recommend he consider selecting True Casting and Assay Spell Resistance, for obvious reasons.
-[X] Speak with Moonsong the Liminal Sprite.
--[X] Although the offer of land of her own remains on the table, we know Moonsong is not interested in such. Make the offer nonetheless, along with the title of Vaeroseia, reminding her that she need not directly administer the land, but could instead appoint someone else to manage it, to use the land as a source of income, a home for the families of her crew, and even a status symbol among Fey and mortal alike.
---[X] Beyond the land that is hers if she wishes it, we have a much more interesting offer, and an opportunity unparalleled. Introduce her to the Wyvern aircraft and use them to demonstrate the development of an entirely new kind of flying vessel, then show her the plans for the Moonchaser which will begin construction in just a few days time. It will be a mighty vessel, able to travel the Planes with greater ease than the Hunter's Moon cuts through the waves of the Narrow Sea, with weapons unmatched in potency and armor proof against all but the mightiest of beings. We can build it with the resources we have gathered and the many skilled enchanters who have entered our service, but we cannot be its captain. We cannot, but Moonsong, one of our most trusted and loyal naval officers, a powerful Fey who has grown far beyond the limits of her less outstanding kindred and who is ready to form her own Court, no, her own Crew, she would be the perfect being to captain the Moonchaser.
----[X] Offer Moonsong the captaincy of the Moonchaser after she returns from the upcoming Yi-Ti expedition, if she is willing to enter into our service so long as the Imperium stands.

[X] Moonsong Level Up
-[X] Class: +1 Bard
-[X] Skills(8 points): +1 Diplomacy, +1 Perform(Comedy), +2 Profession(Officer), +4 Sense Motive
-[X] Spells:
--[X] 2nd Level:
---[X] Retrain: Mesmerizing Glare >>> Tongues
--[X] 3rd Level: Dispel Magic

We cannot, but Moonsong, one of our most trusted and loyal naval officers, a powerful Fey who has grown far beyond the limits of her less outstanding kindred and who is ready to form her own Court, no, her own Crew, she would be the perfect being to captain the Moonchaser.
----[X] Offer Moonsong the captaincy of the Moonchaser after she returns from the upcoming Yi-Ti expedition, if she is willing to enter into our service so long as the Imperium stands.

Zherys chose well when he selected Aemon to represent the Mysterium of Volantis, and we believe we have chosen well to offer him land in the newly settled Imperial Province of Draconys.

--[X] Although the offer of land of her own remains on the table, we know Moonsong is not interested in such. Make the offer nonetheless, reminding her that she need not directly administer the land, but could instead appoint someone else to manage it, to use the land as a source of income, a home for the families of her crew, and even a status symbol among Fey and mortal alike.
Just like Mel he does have doubts and a breaking point though. There was that short story with the insane priest kidnapping one of this children. He came close. I'm comparing him to Mel not Benero because their depth of faith is comparable even if Mel is not a nice person.

This is fair. I suspect my comparison to Bennero is due to my not having a good grasp of Mel as a character.

In the words of Harry Dresden: Michael is good people.

The best.

@Goldfish, then maybe add showing Moonsong a 1 to 100 model of the Moonchaser for showmanship.

That looks much too different from the Wyverns to be part of the same design aesthetic, IMO. It's like the product of an entirely different tech tree.

What about something like this instead?
