  • [X] Tell Ser Gerold Dayne that we have no shortage of foes in need of slaying, ranging from the mundane to utterly fantastical. If he wants to slay monsters, or take up a grand Keep and guard the Demon Road from creatures crawling out of the Valyrian Badlands, or join what is quite literally the best army in the world to glory and victory ... the world's wide open to him.
-[X] Later in private, ask Waymar of his opinion of the various knights as potential candidates for his new knightly order, including Dayne.

-[X] Hint that our leal subjects often get special attention to their gear by our artisans, oftentimes more than the tourney winners.

DP told me that he is unsure what name and coat of arms Oberyn would take on.

My proposal:
House Sandviper
Red serpent on golden sun on green field.

Words: "Tits and Wine" :V

House Ouroboros
Winged red and gold serpent circling the globe to eats its own tail.

Words: "Seize the day."

Too complicated and the two-colour serpent breaks tincture rules.

And why wings?

Though red ouroboros on golden field would work.
Shout out to Velen and his bros who helped kickstart the magical education program in Dorne and outfitted Oberyn in most of his swanky gear. I don't mind if they're removed, though.

Tinkering with my City of Brass infiltration plan again;

Enchanted Outfitters (tentative name), aka City of Brass Front Business
  • Purveyors of affordable Alchemical creations and magical paraphernalia, specializing in basic wondrous items, minor magical weapons and armor, and a selection of low and medium level spells meant to heal or enhance the caster and their allies.
    • Enchanted Outfitters sells its goods at 5% below regular market value.
    • Enchanted Outfitters purchases salvaged magical goods that are in good condition at the normal rate of 50% of market value, but will provide up to another 5% if the seller accepts store credit rather than currency.
  • Although Enchanted Outfitters regularly sells magical weapons, they do not produce offensive wondrous items or spell scrolls which could allow the "enslaved" crafters to become a threat to their owner or his trusted employees.
    • While Enchanted Outfitters does not produce such items, it will purchase them as salvage from potential customers, adventurers, or other inhabitants of the City of Brass.
Does this seem reasonable? The idea isn't to turn a huge profit, though the business actually should make a pretty tidy sum, but instead to attract a large customer base and to establish a reputation for good quality, low prices, and fast service. The more denizens of the City of Brass who make use of our services and leave happy, the less likely we are to attract unwanted attention.

House Atheris
Red viper on a golden field
Words: Strike True to the Heart

Atheris is a red viper. Seemed appropriate. Could flavor it to be either a Rhoynish or Dornish viper.

I don't really care what his standard is. Just tried to make it not too ostentatious. And a red viper would stand out on a golden field.

I wanted to say through the heart. Because Oberyn gives love a bad name.

@Goldfish, how do you plan to interact with the Bazaar's criminal underworld? One way or another you need to have a gameplan for them.
Minimally, if at all possible, at least early on in the operation.

We don't know who we can rely on among the criminals of the City of Brass, who will double-cross us, who will try to destroy us or take over, who spies for the Efreeti, etc. According to the Shaitan Vizier, we can't even rely on his agents and assets within the city, as some of them may be double agents. We're in this for the long haul, so we don't need to rush to establish contacts in a few weeks when we can wait for them to come to us.

Since the front business is going to be buying as well as selling, we're bound to have customers trying to fence stolen goods, launder money, acquire contraband goods, etc. That could be a good intro to the criminal underworld of the CoB, especially the Black Market.

I recommended to @DragonParadox last night that he just stick with Nymeros. That is the more important part of the name where is going. Even if doesn't do that alone it should still be Nymeros-X to denote decent from the Rhoyner princess.

Edit: DP for the ninja

@Mormont suggested House Nymeros in a PM. That might be good too.

Update is again delayed by the need to finalized the Golden Wind's information (and thus roll the extra-planar war results).
Mind you that the full name is House Nymerios-Martell, so the name is kinda taken.
It might be better for Oberyn to go back to even earlier roots than Nymeria, possibly whatever house she belonged to before the fall of the Rhoynish cities. The name Nymeros was taken up by people exiled from their homeland as a reminder of their leader. Oberyn on the other hand would be returning home.

I personally think Oberyn taking on Nymeros is a complete no-go. That's like saying "I represent the Rhoynish decent more then that guy in Sunspear.", which you could indeed argue by virtue of him holding land at the Rhoyne, but that's the kind of thing you do to start a feud and drain legitimacy from someone else. I doubt though that either we or Oberyn are interested in doing that.
