Samwell must have gotten into some books on magic and fearing his pious father kept it to himself.

Could always offer to Foster him and encourage his talents, maybe help him overcome his timid nature a bit so not scared of everything in an supportive environment.

Well, his father almost certainly doesn't know so no need to cause an explosion in the street by going "hey Samwell, so did you sell your right or your left leg for that magic when the Fey came by?"

"Not quite, my lord," Horas smiles gamely. "I am Horas. Rumors of my death have been misconstrued, for the fey are full of hidden tricks," he continues in an ironically fey manner of his own.

Horas: "Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

Viserys, stage whispering to Horas: "How long have you been waiting to say that?"

Horas: "I was actually hoping to say it every day since I came back."

Viserys: "...you. I like you."

Man, I can imagine the upcoming conversation.

Randyll: "He can't study magic! It wouldn't be..."

Randyll pauses, deciding if it verges past the point of practicality to say 'practical' after seeing everything the Deep and the Legion has to offer: "...seemly." Aaand he's back to square one. Great going, Randyll.

Viserys: "...you know, fair enough." At least he's practical? That's a step beyond most Lords spoken to.

[X] Let the matter of Samwell's magic go for the moment.
-[X] Invite Horas to accompany you/for the meal/in general.

[X] Plan A Dinner You Will Never Forget
-[X] Guests:
--[X] Dany, Rhealla, Lya, Richard, Waymar and Tyene as the core of your group. Baring Lya, they are all Westerosi, keeping things somewhat within his comfort zone.
--[X] Asha, Theon and Moonsong, both as a statement about where the Iron Isles will likely be during the war and to provide some exiting conversation.
--[X] Horas is invited too of course.
--[X] Also have Maelor and Malarys in attendance, as their observations and sharp tongues could be greatly helpful.
--[X] Total of 14 people, which sounds much, but is a pretty subdued affair as far as lordly dinners with foreign guests go.
-[X] Menu:
--[X] The meal will be a mix of Westerosi and Essosi cuisine, high quality, but not pretentious. Some Essosi fish dish, Westerosi style veal and a chocolate cake with ice-cream sound about right. Serve some white Arbor wine to the fish, Dornish Red to the veal and a nice Tyroshi Pear Brandy to the dessert.
-[X] Talking points:
--[X] Share some gossip and light conversation, about the festival, the recent events in the Three Daughters and try to get Tarly to open up a bit about recent events in the Reach. Try to maybe get some insights in what happened between the Lanter Bearers and the Maesters.
--[X] Seat Maelor next to Samwell and Dany next to Maelor. The two of them should try to get a bit about himself out of Samwell.
--[X] Carefully steer the conversation to your meeting with Paxtor Redwyne and the events surrounding the Fey in the Reach and the upcoming Conclave in particular.

Should we add Valaena to the list? She'd be another statement, relatively familiar westerosi, and it's not like the Velaryon's loyalties are a secret.

The plan is lacking Xor playing for the audience, but otherwise it is fine.

(You all know you want Xor in there)

No Vee? :(

She could cast Hero's Feast spells.

Small affair guys. Small affair. The number of guests is already pushing it.

I'm tempted to organize a full banquet the day before the fleet departs to Yi-Ti to send them off, inviting everyone of importance from the realm.
