Orrrrrr we can get an offensive buff and actually have another AOE nuke that we can spam
When a target struck by the singing mist blade is assailed by a damaging technique from its user, the swords song echoes, enhancing the damage and penetration of the technique.
I don't see AOE, but i see that this buff works only on damaging techniques and not all of our offensive Techs are damaging and as nice bonus Eerie Song gives us more qi drain.
And another way of thinking: all of that power that would be spent on an AoE is concentrated in a single attack.
Where did you see it? Quote plz.

I choose this because it lowers enemy spiritual defense. Hopefullt we can use this against Boss Battles to make them fall for the crapton of misdirections we have.

Also Ling Qi is turning into a Sincere Manipulator. With how her domain is haping up, we're heading into Right Hand Woman territory.

Uh, we just got FSS6. We can hit pretty hard.
.
Yes, our one nuke tech.

This effect seems like a fantastic synergy for our Singing Blade, as its gimmick is hitting AoE. "Everything it hit" getting a big damage mod if we also attack it sounds great.

We could actually make the sword relevant. Two birds: more damage, which we lack, and getting some returns out of putting an "expensive" gimmick on the sword.

And all it takes is this one stone.

We really, really can.

Singing Mist Blade
Dexterity+Woodwind. Darkness. Spiritual. +15 to Penetration. Damage D. Health D
The singing Mist blade's song grates on an enemies spirit, wearing them down as it circles and swipes at their defenses. With each passing moment, the blade wears away at an enemies spiritual armor and drains away threads of qi

With FVM being finished, no successor in sights and the archive looking not that adapted for a replacement, what we really need is better attrition and crowd control and draining, not damage. Hopefully PLR will help a lot, here, but still.

We are now in a position where we are at risk of being a facepuncher :(

Not all of them, just irregular pulses and i still don't see how it supports your point.
"the SMB hits multiple enemies every time it attacks" and "the SMB mimics any damaging technique we use for the same power and penetration" is not that hard to put together.

It was literally designed to hit multiple enemies with every attack to debuff them when we voted for it.

A boss that falls to your Dominate-equivalent is not really a boss.

Narrative mechanics sound nice, but can also be a bitch. Narrative tropes must be taken into account when creating one's strategy.

Staying hidden and untouchable? Not going to happen against anyone really important.

Same with Qi drain.

So if A-C=B, B-C=C15, C-D=D10 what is A-B??? B20?? (Looking through the derived attributes)

I get the concern of us not dealing enough damage so I'm not gonna discourage people from voting the damage build, but I wanna continue down the line of whittling down our opponents to nothingness *flashback to Chu Song fight*

Ok lets see from this point. We still have offensive buff that only affects LQ and only against enemies caught in Blade's AOE vs AOE debuff that useful for LQ and all of her allies and drains qi as bonus.

I find this more thematic, and can't really bring myself to vote for what's basically just an add. I've really enjoyed the feel of the whole field of death thing Ling Qi has, and I really don't want to leave that behind to just become a frost elementalist throwing ice around instead of the classic fireballs.

The best debuff is death.

An enemy that drops this round and a fresh one is better than two ever so slightly weakened ones that get to act again the next round.

Its presuming that Buff would be stronger than Debuff, but if Buff and Debuff are at the same rank than Debuff would have upper hand.
P.S.: It looks like Coherent Song more useful against strong Boss-like enemies (if it can hit them at least once), whereas Eerie Song better at crowd control.

1) Assume both options are balanced.
2) One is geared towards pure damage in a smaller set of enemies, the other is multiple debuff effects on a gigantic area (assuming @yrsillar didn't mean for it to be only those the sword hits too).
3) It logically follows the highly specialized one is enormously better at doing what we need it to do: take people down.

This "if a debuff penalizes by the same measure a buff boosts, the debuff is universally better" has been noted a long time ago, in the previous thread, and dully addressed.

If one thinks about it, FSS is an indiscriminate AOE, high damage especially with CtE, but prone to friendly fire. If one wants finesse, they would choose to buff the Domain Weapon, but I digress. I want our enemies to suffer slowly and more qi drain is always a good thing.

Speed C7-C12 (low light 5)

I spotted this in the front page and...

Speed: (Athletics D, Dexterity B) = C + Unqualified Bonuses: Zephyr 2, Step 15, AS 5, PLR 5 = C27
Qualified Bonuses: +5 in low light/darkness (SCS)

It's gonna get downgraded soon with the removal of FZ and AS, but I don't think our Speed should be that low.

Also, is there a reason we're keeping AC when we're removing both AM and AS?
