magical black mineral for magical black metal! someone else thinks of a magic black arrow and kill it with the magic metal arrow in a Ballistae!

"Heavy infantry?" Yaks are like compacted Troll-strength cavalry that can survive in a melee like infantry - their charge is going to send everything they hit flying to the stratosphere!

The problem will be that the enemy is unbreakable. The crystal ponies of the Line will hold and jump to stop all enemy momentum, even if it means intentionally putting themselves into a brain-pop from angry yak hooves/pierced by horns.

Yeah, this will be a mostly a defensive action until we can find something of a weakness to hit at.

Speaking of Celestia and Luna, we might actually get their aid if the war drags on long enough. The timeline in between Discord's imprisonment and Luna going insane is murky, but at some point they took on Sombra and won. So it's possible that when Celestia and Luna hear of Sombra mustering his forces, they might prepare to act as well.

It's all conjecture, but it gives a sense of hope, that this won't become an eternal war.

Remember placements of nations are random they could potentially be so far away they don't even know about sombra.

if its anything like damascus steel then i want more of it

I'm pretty sure Damascus Steel is just like any other kind of steel, an alloy of iron. As such it doesn't occur naturally like iron, silver, or gold does (on Earth at least), as such all types of steel are artificial.

Besides, as somebody else pointed out, orichalcum is typically used as a fantasy metal that is naturally stronger and/or lighter than steel, and normally is magical in it's nature. As such it could be argued to be even better than any type of natural metal or alloy.

Which means there's even a potential that orichalcum could even help us fight the magic juggernaut in some way if we made weapons and armor out of it.

So they're passing a mountain? Time to pull a Mulan.

A good fortified position on high ground is pretty great. especially with cannons. Napoleon proved that pretty well.

Id hope we could go full spartan and pull something to the effect of Thermopylae. Push them onto a pass and hold out there, and rain down iron and fire from above.

Hmm... I wonder if we could send some kind of elite unit around the back toward the back? See if we can find a way to get a pincer up, aside from using the mountain passes to our advantage. Or head to the crystal empire and see if we can free them somehow and rally them to attack...

The only thing Im worried about is magic. Because magic.

That's true. Hell, the Equestrians might not know he even exists.
Exactly which is why I'm not exactly gonna hold my breath for outside help besides the yaks. We're gonna have to help ourselves here people and assume no one else is gonna help us here.

[X] All of them
I know now of what the Griffon Empire reminds me of. It reminds me of Russia, since th Epithet of "Then it got worse" seems to be very fitting right around now.
I mean the warring King of Aquilia was horrible and then we got an even more horrible warring Lord on our doorstep! What is next?
Probably Caribou
