we are trying just that this very turn with Lys Tree.

Yes, smaller in scale, but if it works...
Well, it will be but a matter of more sacrifices to change DA!Tree's effect given a need.

I'm not willing to die upon this hill, but I would prefer having Cerylean Sign over SD for the duration of of anti-illithid campaign at the very least.
That's an upgrade, @egoo. It's Remove Disease --> Panacea. It is not the same as outright changing the spell to something else, DP has made it abundantly clear that the Old Gods won't tolerate change on that scale.

Well, I dunno, I could argue that:
"Area is uninhabitable for Illithid" could be very much upgraded to:
"Area is super-hospitable for everyone else"
:V

Wouldn't letting Ysilla go on dangerous adventures make us break our word to Lord Royce ? Didn't we promise to keep her safe ?
The reason that she's even in Sorcerer's Deep in the first place is because we convinced Lord Royce that keeping Ysilla safe wasn't enough on its own, hence her learning magic under our care. Helping her get stronger in its use is an extension of that.

Cerulean Sign changed to anything else on a Heart Tree--something that's meant to be everlasting and unchanged--is too much change. What you're asking goes against the entire concept of the Heart Trees. This is not something that can be changed on a whim unless the Heart Tree in question is destroyed.

Just as a note IC Viserys suspects Lord Royce would not see it like that. On the plus side Waymar would be fine with it.

Anyway good night guys. See you tomorrow with rulership actions for Viserys as well as more from KL and the foray into Lhazosh.

I am rather fond of the petitioners. They actually make it look like Viserys is king rather than conqueror with some ruling on the side. I would be okay with doing this more often...provided that we dont have an emergency situation coming along.

Could we set up some kind of dungeon for beginner adventurers? Maybe use magic to make it safe -ish.

Some Dawn Age Tree ideas;

If we want to make SD a Planar capital, how about Planar Adaptation?
*You may be made of sentient Lava, but SD can still be your home*

Or maybe we key to island itself to try to eat anything we sacrificed to the tree.
Joe Shmoe Devil enters the island.
first day, gravel is slippery and clothes catch on thorns
second day, mortar loosens and tree sap drips when near
third day, loose bricks and branches fall
fourth day, sinkholes with sharp roots open
fifth day, hostile lesser earth elementals and plant creatures begin awakening
sixth day, and so on
...ie. kind of an inverse horror movie *cough Event Horizon.

Or just something simple like "anything sacrificed to the tree rolls two dice and takes the worse result when near SD"

Well the idea is to have them reach level 5 in the learning aspects of the Scholarium, graduate and go on adventures as dictated by us, if they are a companion or vassal, or via the Scholarium. In all honesty magic like this takes a while to understand and learn. Our companions are freaks in that we constantly fought and looked for fights.

By the way, while we are crossing the subject of Dawn Age Tree...
I'm dropping this as a minor action next month:

[] Have as many illithid-tainted citizens of your realm purged of this taint by holy waters of Merlin King.
-[] If taint is considerably high and has a considerable chance of wreaking a serious injury or death upon purging (tentacles on the inside, completely transformed tainted appendages, etc) - apply all necessary healing services available, up to calling on Vee for Regeneration spell.

With them gone, the only other thing stopping us from putting Cerulean Sign on Dawn Age Tree is Xor.
And we can manage an effect that will exclude him easily enough, I think.

This one effect will solve so many problems for SD's inquisition and guards that it isn't even funny.
I thought we already explained why this wasn't an issue...?

*sees a wall of text*

[X] Azel
*actually starts to read*
I just remembered Embra, the Calif's niece.

We should send her a message regarding the festival we're holding and inviting her (and perhaps family as well so as to not sound presumptive or insulting to the Calif)
Good thinking.

@DragonParadox have we invited Embra?

Hell, last I remember she was WBL-mancying her way through slavers, what's she up to?

[X] [Golden Fields] Sell 35% of the company shares and immediately reinvest it into expanding the operations in the Daughters March. (Gain no cash, but +1 Size for the company)

[X] [VS] Due to the VS stocks being slightly lower then expected, mulch the last Gigantic Fiendish Spider to make another 800 pounds.

[X] [The Girls] Putting their money where their mouths are:
-[X] "The two of you are close enough to my sister to know that I certainly did not like to involve her in these matters at her age. She had no choice back then, for the world didn't want to leave her out of it, but you two have." // While I doubt it will do anything, it can't hurt to check if they fold at the smallest bit of resistance here.
-[X] Assuming they stick with this: "Fine then, but I will give you any work without ensuring that you are ready for it. Glyra has been tasked to provide some fun and games during the upcoming festival in the cities of the realm. You will go with her and work under her. I will leave it up to her what you two will be doing and I will read her report on your performance afterwards." *dramatic pause* "Rest assured that reading Glyras chicken scratch, delivered on a torn grain sack, is a great sacrifice I make for the two of you."
-[X] "If her assessment is positive, you will train with the Inquisition here in the Deep for a while. This is in addition to your other studies and you will attend while disguised. Should you be found out or the trainers deem you unready for the work, we will table this until you have grown some more."
-[X] "Are these terms acceptable to you?"
-[X] If they agree, pay a visit to the Inquisition Commissar in SD and clue him in on the matter. You are expecting detailed reports and no molly-coddling. They will have to earn their approval, more so then any other recruit. His trainers will pressure them both physically and mentally, to make sure that they can actually do this. You would rather deal with their disappointment at being flunked out of the course then the results of them risking their lives for playing at being heroes.
We need to speak with their parents before letting them get into anything dangerous. It shouldn't be too difficult to convince them that the danger will be minor and that they will be overseen by experienced protectors should something go wrong, but it is really bad form to encourage and even enable this behavior in children so young without even bothering to inform their parents.
I still strongly object to putting area denial weapons on a tree in SD that we will never be able to get rid off.

What if we find a way to make vegetarian brains for the Illithid? Do you really want a class of citizens that is physically incapable of entering the capital?
What about other friendly aberrations?

Also, it wastes an effect on a weapon, when we should use this unique tree to boost the whole Capital Of The World thing we got going. How often will even actually need this effect once the Illithid are dealt with? Never, that's how often.

When making choices for millenia, you need to consider millenia.
I agree. While an island-wide Cerulean Sign would be a nice effect, it's too niche, and as Azel says, too permanent. Who knows what the coming months and years may bring? What if we find a large group of sane Spectators like Xor? What if he buds/spawns/lays eggs (or how ever the fuck his species reproduces) and we cannot make exceptions for the newcomers in the effect?

I'm thinking Death Ward would be a good effect. Super powerful and makes Sorcerer's Deep very secure against some of the nastier powers of the Others come the Long Night.

You know, that would be epic.
No, the epic part would be the pryon disease hidden within the brains that we engineered to be undetectable to magic and highly resistant if not immune to healing effects, only dangerous to Illithids, and programmed not to cause symptoms or become deadly until a very specific ritual is conducted so as to further obscure the potential danger from the faux-brains.

:drevil:

They are spreading quite well, though the meaning has begun to mutate in places, making it so the erinyes have to occasionally bite their tongues from the impulse to correct an improper usage.

Cursing is all about creativity, I'd be pretty confident our Legion refines the cursing of the legion (of hell) pretty quickly, they'll be taking lessons from us soon enough.

I don't know if DP would let us put such an effect on the whole island. I figured we would be straining his generosity to push for a 3rd level effect. A 4th level one such as Death Ward might just be too much.

I don't see why not. The range was a natural result of how old the tree is, and the Old Gods seriously don't have anything to complain about when we're going to be paying them with the biggest sacrifice of the age.

Given how many HD were putting into this it's likely to have a mutative effect on every heart tree in the planet.

So when's this festival thing supposed to happen? next month? and are we basically doing what the World Government did in One Piece and broadcasted the Summit War live to Saobody but to multiple cities in the Imperium for all the different events... Hang on. stop me if someones already pointed this out but isn't that basically like broadcasting a very first very martially inclined Olympic games?

So far we are not agreeing to anything. What they get is some time working under Glyra (which is in of itself a punishment) and then they get training from the Inquisition. The latter isn't that much different from having your castellan teach your kid or hiring a sword tutor. We would be starting them young, but it would be perfectly acceptable in both societies. However, there is no real danger involved. Glyra is dangerous and cunning enough to protect them on the first thing and the Inquisition is just training in a safe environment.

If they actually manage to impress the Inquisition trainers enough to get a pass, then we talk with Bronze Yon and the Fairwinds.
