But worth it.
I wouldn't implant them, since I think that the visual effect of a floating halo of gemstones would be awesome for Lya.I'm not really a huge fan of Ioun stones. Most of them aren't worth the expense, since the effects they provide are all twice as expensive as a normal item due to them being slotless.
The exception to this would be the Orange Prism which provides an untyped +1 caster level bonus.
A Pale Green Prism isn't bad either, though still quite expensive for the effect it provides.
The greatest benefit of using Ioun stones, however, is if price is not a concern. Then you can purchase or craft whichever you want them and use the Pathfinder rules to implant them in your body. That allows you to benefit from the effects while keeping the Ioun stones hidden and opening up item slots you can use for other stuff.
What are you all doing on Christmas day by the way, to be so busy?
We could put that effect on everyone's PfE item for cheaper.Which ones? I know there's a nifty one that gives out +1 to CL, but I know pretty much nothing about the rest.
EDIT: Holy shit, Ioun Stones are amazing.
I want a Pale Green Stone for every party member.
We could? How much cheaper?
@Snowfire - I like the vote, but it all hinges on the assumption that Praxter's doing this in return for getting the crown, which I'm not certain of. You might want to create a contingency if that's not the case.
[X] Plan What Price is Blood
-[X] Linger to speak with Lord Redwyne.
-[X] First, ensure that he understands that we hold no ill will to him or his in this matter, though we would suggest that any such expeditions the Reach seeks to mount into our waters have some warning to them, unless they come under flags of war. Clearing the air, ensuring that no grudges are held between us for this. This does matter. It also shows us a good guest, without apologising. Also can be used to poke at the level of backing by the Reach in this matter.
-[X] Given his reaction, delicately raise the question of if this mission was the price required by the Fae for returning his son to life. No need to mention it was one of them that killed him, that's clearly already present.
--[X] If asked why, simply explain that we have seen Fae to be quite vengeful if a bargain struck with them is not fulfilled, in ways far deeper than a mortal can be. This is entirely true. We can even give a few examples.
-[X] If retrieval of the crown appears to have been part of the deal, extend an offer of sanctuary to Horas, free of any cost, if this failure would cause the Fae to renege on their half of the bargain struck. Also idly mention how vast a price it seems to pay, compared to more mortal magics.
-[X] If it was not, idly mention how the price of more mortal magic is so much more steady than that of the Fae. If he seems curious, explain what it costs to return one recently dead to life.
It's not much of a secret to the nobility. The Northern Lords know (Manderly wizard), the Dornish know (Elia), the Greyjoys know (Rhaella), the Reach knows (Fey bullshit), the Lannisters know (Lanna)...@Snowfire: So, we are going to imply there are other means (at our disposal) to resurrect people? Referring to "Also idly mention how vast a price it seems to pay, compared to more mortal magics.".

If it's to undermine fey then I'm more than happy to let the cat out of the bag.@Snowfire: So, we are going to imply there are other means (at our disposal) to resurrect people? Referring to "Also idly mention how vast a price it seems to pay, compared to more mortal magics.".

We did it in Braavos to keep the Windward Society from going to them by offering Reincarnation at a far lower price.
And now that I think about it, it's a damn good thing we raised Alysande from the dead. Uthero probably would have eventually approached them for some kind of bargain had we not gotten to him first.
"you are just not hating strong enough"(c) Black Templar
I have to admit, I took vicious satisfaction in gifting the Identification Ritual to Alysande and the Silver Eye, and stipulating that all cursed items come to us from now on for proper disposal.Pretty much this, yeah. I want to cut them out of every part of the market they're trying to corner. We don't have to fight them, not really. We just need to make them inconsequential. Then they can come begging to us for their Crown, in the hopes that they can matter again.
Note: this is probably total hyperbole. But it's fun to imagine.
A Pale Green Prism costs 30,000 gp, or 3,000 IM for us to craft. Since Ioun stones cost twice as much due to them being slotless, putting the same effect into an item would be 1,500 IM.
Hey, that's totally fair. A big reason I love Valyrian Steel so much is just because of how cool it looks, even if Adamantine outclasses it.Frankly, my desire for getting Ioun stones for Lya is mostly stylistic. She really deserves some distinct piece of equipment by now and it would fit well with her image.
