More importantly, even if this does pay off and give us appreciable treasure, it's not the treasure we're explicitly after for the Plane of Fire trip.

Remember guys, it's a political move as much as anything else. We want to move fast and hard and get shit done inside of the week we have set aside for it just before the conference. We need aaaall the extra leverage we can obtain.

Where's your sense of adventure, y'all?

We can just drop one day from Upon a Sea of Flame.

[X] Banish this mad chaos monger before he can do more harm, and claim your due for his deeds from his treasures.
-[X] Ask Alvar to use the Wayfinder in order to locate the Slaad in question. If it is not currently on the Plane, or awarded against detection, we will need to make other arrangements, but if it can be located we can seek it out and end this quickly.
--[X] While Alvar does that, Viserys drinks a potion of Lesser Restoration and asks Embra where she would recommend we secure lodging for ourselves.
---[X] After rooms are secured, Viserys used the magic bedroom to recover his spells.
-[X] Don't forget to equip the new Soulfire Bracers.
We already dropped Upon a Sea of Flame from seven to five days in order to get the cloak finished before the conference. I don't want to shorten it further unnecessarily.

One day.

If it takes longer, we can just let the authorities handle it.

But this sounds like a fun adventure to have with Embra and all.
Sea of Flame, the important mission we're using to showcase our effectiveness against the Efreeti, is already knocked down to 5 days thanks to the Aspect Cloak needing to be forged before the conference. Knocking this job down to 4 days definitely is not appealing.

Very much agreed.

This really is less of a "should we get involved or not" discussion and more of a "adventure vs. politics" discussion.

Cause I can tell you now, if we didn't have that conference set up this month, or some other incessant political matter catching our ear every month, I'd happily jump on every random encounter for laughs.

@DragonParadox Question, do we have enough information to handle this kind of like how we handled that one time where we bulldozed through all obstacles in our path because we got tired of people poking the dragon and it worked really, really well for some reason?

Or is this something like an active and involved investigation because we don't have a place to strike at yet?

It's hard to tell with the narrative as given because our hireling explains what happened and who was involved but it isn't explicit if he also mentioned "oh yeah they're over there" amidst that explanation and Viserys just left it out because he wasn't sure if he'd decided to involve himself yet.

If so, we probably won't have time to trade too @Goldfish.

You can probably find the enemy, but it might not be entirely wise to smash into things, not so much for fear of losing as because that would cause more collateral damage

I think we are good with 4 days for Upon a Sea of Flame.

The Aspect makes the entire thing matter a whole lot less.

Yeah, if the Sea of Flame was almost any other action I'd have happily jumped on the adventure train for this one, but it's important and it's already been shortened quite a bit. We shouldn't be taking even more chunks out of it.

Also, @DragonParadox, regarding the Erinyes ritual:

So the Erinyes are up against DC 30 for Knowledge (Religion) and Knowledge (The Planes), and they have an innate 16 skillpoints in those corresponding skills.

The ways we can boost the skillpoints for the ritual are:
+2 from borrowing Lya's Circlet
+2 from Aid Another (assuming the ritual is adjusted to allow the other Erinyes to participate as secondary casters)
+1 from the alchemical bonus for the Smoke Extracts
+10 from the competence boosting items

Which brings them up to 31 of the requisite 30, allowing them to autosucceed. Do I have that correctly?

Sure, we're powerful and good at killing, but the point of Sea of Flame is to showcase our effectiveness for jobs we're actually hired for. I don't want to miss out on that. Not to mention the sweet loot the Shaitan are due to give us upon completion.

The more I think about this, the less I want us to interfere here in Admin Kelisk. This is not our backyard, it's not a poorly run Planetosi shithole, and the people in charge are unabashedly Good-aligned.

They will be outraged that a Death Slaad is operating in their city, feeding people to Phase Spiders. They aren't pushovers, either, and can handle the heat.

Not only that, but we really, really don't need to drag the Grand Vizier's daughter, the niece of the Sultan, off to fight a creature that can use Implosion as a SLA at 18th caster level. That's how promising political and economic alliances get dicked up.

Let's please try the diplomacy route for the Efreeti trip. Going full nuclear first strike is not a good way to appear to our allies.

We've got the Mammon cloak to prove our strength. Use the Efreeti to prove our cunning.

And the rewards will be much greater if we are clever about all of this. Making allies and future subjects in the PoF sounds much better then a simple smash and grab to me.

Inserted tally

Damn, DBZ Abridged #60 is fucking amazing.

Badass bracers, baby!

@Azel I'm for it. We should really show off how good we are at keikaku doori.

Sure we're supposed to diplomance the various Salamander Kings into breaking away and allying with us, but... surely we're at least attacking the Efreeti.

@Goldfish the bracers are for Viserys, Lya and Rhaella.

Yeah, I didn't see the Implosion, just the Finger of Death.
Why Rhaella? I would rather Bronn have them before her, as he might actually get some use out of them. Or freaking Mia the baby mage, Asha the wannabe Viking, Theon's pet Dinosaur, etc.

Dany makes much more sense, or Richard since he's always involved in our shenanigans.

Yes, she'll probably never use it, I agree. This seemed way too much to me, too.

But the way I'm justifying this in my head, we can just get this expenditure out of the way and then get back to focusing on equipment for everyone else.

Because she is highly vulnerable to the kind of thing it protects from.

Bronn already got a shield ring.
