The Pondmaster's statement about being too old to begin a new apprenticeship makes me want to offer him the Reincarnation special.

Not as something that should happen immediately, or any time soon, but merely as a possibility for when he is ready to retire. We can give him a new life and a new identity, no strings attached, so long as he doesn't allow himself to be killed by old age.

@DragonParadox, did we ever give the opportunistic Legionnaires who captured the cultist sacrifices for us their unit-wide bonuses? All of us meant to do that.

I want to offer this to him as well, but I want to do right by him and offer him Cyclic Reincarnation the second we get our hands on that.

I beg I plead I implore.

@Duesal for the love of all that is holy, ask permission to be told how the silver eye class progresses. We needed permission last time. Just call it curiosity if the Sealord asks.

Please.

Honestly, I dislike 'do you want another life?' handed out like candy.

The Pondmaster was our first friendly power for a very long time, and has been our ally longer than anyone except a few actual party members.

Offering him Reincarnation isn't quite the same as some random asshole off the street.

And he's one of the few allies that hasn't made us want to tear our hair out at some point.
I don't want to know the how. Just the what. A basic class discription. If you can make that obvious that we don't seek the means, mearly knowledge of what they can do?
It's added in. I can almost promise you that the knowledge will be underwhelming, though.

@DragonParadox, we've got consensus.

  • [X] Get your wine out
-[X] Viserys explains that he's ascended to True Dragonhood (and if necessary gives a brief explanation on True Dragons) and that he was one of the dragons in the skies
-[X] Yes, we have another dragon as well--a Dracolich from before Valyria's rise, who we've made a pact with to restore to life under our service
-[X] We had celestials helping in the conquest, specifically the Archons of Mantarys
-[X] The reason we went after Tyrosh was that there were daemons infesting the city who no doubt would have murdered everyone inside if they were not stopped
-[X] Our magelings are really coming along nicely and were able to aid the Legion during the battle
-[X] Our Legionnaires trashed the Unsullied so hard that they fled the field
--[X] They also managed to crush the daemons as well
-[X] We diplomanced the surviving Unsullied, and now they're joining the Legion as well
-[X] The rebuilding of Tyrosh is continuing apace with little interruption
-[X] Update the Sealord on the various happenings in the world
--[X] Undead Sarnori still roam the former Dothraki Sea
--[X] We have discovered an infestation of Devils in Westeros and there is reason to believe they are active in Essos as well, so the Sealord should stay vigilent
--[X] Fey are returning in droves to the Rhoyne, and we have recently discovered they are within the countryside of Myr as well
--[X] Explain the circumstances of the growth of the Tree of Peace and Plenty in Lys (while not mentioning the Fungus Forge)
--[X] Tell the Sealord that one of your magelings has managed to hatch her own Valyrian Dragon under your guidance
-[X] As a gift between friends, offer to use Heal on the Sealord
-[X] Offer to grow a Weirwood Heart Tree for the Silver Eye, specifically to grow the sapling that's already in the backyard of the Wind House
--[X] Reassure the Sealord that you have daemon-tainted items that can be sacrificed for the purpose
--[X] If needed, explain the usefulness of such a tree and the various potent magics that could be grown into it, with the added benefit that the Old Gods demand neither worship nor sacrifice
-[X] You'll be catching up with Alysande later in this visit, so preemptively ask for permission to ask about Alysande's magic and the details of how it works, and how she progresses in making her magic stronger
--[X] This is mainly out of curiosity since Lya adores the study of magic

You have discussed magical life extension to the Sealord before and his reaction was not positive, pointing out that his position is for life and it is not something he would wish to spend centuries doing.

Now, accepting our version of life extension includes dying. As such, we are offering a new life, not the continuation of an existing one (hello Yss, how's it going with rebirth?).

The offer wouldn't be made to extend his time as Ferrengo Antarion, but to restore his youth and allow him to take his new life down another path, separate from his old life as Pondmaster. If he chooses to work for us, or attend the Scholarium to learn magic, well that would just be a bonus. If not, he would still make a fine Imperial citizen.

You can make the offer certainly, just pointing out what Viserys already knows IC.

Unfortunately It's late enough that I don't feel up to writing an update as complex as the next one is shaping up to be.

"Welcome, my friend," the Sealord clasps your hand as an equal, not bothering with the formality of bows. "A drink? Would you prefer a Lyseni vintage or a Myrish one?"

"I'm still pondering the matter, Serenity," you answer,
Did he just ask which city is next on our list?

@Amrelath, since DP was so specific as to tell us that tge Sealord aants to know about its nature, he probably knows already by Divination and wants to see if we tell him the truth.

Which I have zero problems with either way. He is one of the very few people we know that is trustworthy and level-headed enough to not go into histrionics over random nonsense.

Honestly, I dislike 'do you want another life?' handed out like candy.

Why? I see no reason why reincarnate/raise dead or any other life extension spell should be any more precious than any other spell of their level. But, it really boils down to how high of a magical world do we want to be creating? I think we passed "middle magic" a while ago, and are already in the "high magic" range, might as well go for broke here. The fact the DP kindly did away with the XP costs for almost all magical item creations did away with one of the limitations in many D&D worlds. Let's just face it..we can keep pretty much anyone we want alive, or young, or bring them back from death, might as well use it as vigorously as we do all our other advantages.

Basically this. All of the reasons we usually hold back with telling the truth to people simply don't apply to the Sealord.

@DragonParadox, would the Sealord be interested in reincarnation after his stint as the Sealord is done? He'd be free of responsibility and the headaches of ruling, and we could give him a great deal if he wants to start up as something else.

He could even study magic if he wanted.

@Duesal mannnn, dudeeeee, chapp. No need to justify or excuse curiosity via Lya. :)

Also, regarding beverage, an honest "not sure yet" seems fair ebough
