I am OK with a veto if we can commit to a Perm Navy x1, temp Navy X, DI until 1 temp IC next round.
How is our Navy doing versus the Nohon? Are they straining to keep the cordon up since we've been harrying them for 3 years now? Also I believe we've reached naval tech parity so do we now have an advantage due to our doctrine and staff?
Also in-case you missed my earlier question, what will be the changes you'll implement and when? We might need to know them if they'll be plan-changers.
Navy is just too damn far from resupply to make a meaningful dent in the Nohon's ability to ravage the coasts from their protected ports. Basically the growing discontent is being fuelled mostly by the fact that you are sending soldiers and sailors far away and jacking up taxes and nothing is really happening. Current projections are that you simply can't beat the Nohon at this range and the entire fight is pointless.
Also, now that you mention it, yes, the Royalist plan is actually cheaper than currently stated. I won't make any official changes just to keep the voting relatively clean, but it will trade the Temp IC for more Temp SoL and cost one less PW.
Isn't the port we have in Kus almost right next to the Hung coastline?Navy is just too damn far from resupply to make a meaningful dent in the Nohon's ability to ravage the coasts from their protected ports. Damn, even with a bigger fleet? Also, what about sending fleetball convoys to try and force big battles? Either something starts happening on the sea, or we at least get to Hung to show our flag and let them remember our help and not quite so jacked up grain prices.Navy is just too damn far from resupply to make a meaningful dent in the Nohon's ability to ravage the coasts from their protected ports. AN mentioned it's not a 1 to 1 CC thing. We don't literally only have 14 companies.Going with the naval bill puts us at 11/14 Crown Corporations. This means we only have three remaining.
Of our key industries of Steelmaking, Shipbuilding, Gunsmithing, Glassworking, Banking and Railways, which three do you guys want to get rid of? Because any way we swing it, it's going to be awful for our national and strategic interests of having these industries be stable and under our influence, protecting them from the repercussions of the coming financial crash.
It was said awhile back that Nohon would jump on a fleet ball with their own fleet, and we would be at a disadvantage in such a fight, iirc.Damn, even with a bigger fleet? Would we? I would say we can recover from our casualties faster, since we have a more modern economy, and we are now equal tech-wise. Big fleet fight doesn't look very disadvantageous to me, especially if get a bit more ships. It was said awhile back that Nohon would jump on a fleet ball with their own fleet, and we would be at a disadvantage in such a fight, iirc.

He also confirmed that selling off 4 means we have only the strategic core companies left. So we're not at risk of selling off something super important.

Several reasons:We've literally just been told by the QM that we cannot beat the Nohon at sea, which is the only theater of that war that matters. Why are people continuing the war?
To add to this, there's also always the chance of more Kyberi clay via land gains. We only need one port for Simultaneous Sunrise and Sunset.Several reasons:
1. Certain technology increases are sped up during the war.
2. Fighting with the Hung until they give in lets us claim later on that we fought alongside them to the end, which should be helpful in the long term with Hung relations.
3. Us leaving means the Hung will collapse, which could then set off an economic catastrophe. We want to delay that for a bit longer, so we can hopefully be in a stronger position.
[X][War] Continue War - Royalists Pleased
[X][Bill] 2 PW - Naval Armaments Bill (-1 IC, +1 Temp IC, +1 Navy, +2 Temp SoL, +4 Sell Crown Corp Uses, Royalists Pleased)
[X][Rails] 1 PW - Yes please (Kielmyr Invest, gain +1 Railroads)
Rather unlikely, since those ports are fortress we can't really cut off from resupply. To add to this, there's also always the chance of more Kyberi clay via land gains. We only need one port for Simultaneous Sunrise and Sunset.
@Academia Nut if we think it's impossible to defeat the Nohon navy at sea, what are our aims then? Just defeat as many Nohon ships as we can, or do we still pan on trying to break the cordon, even if it's unlikely?
The thing is less selling crown corps for profit during the depression and more of being able to control which industry eats the damage if we don't have any mitigation.Cutting a crown corp loose during a depression will give us nothing for doing so. There will be nobody to buy it. It will just collapse because we are pulling support. Better to pull support NOW when we can get something for it and enter the depression with close to 8 temp SoL if we can delay long enough.
But one thing is clear. NO MORE SPENDING SOL OR TEMP SOL UNTIL AFTER THE DEPRESSION.
If you want the Liberals to throw a massive fit, there might be an option. But the basic thing is that buying up an industry is actually stupidly expensive, unless the industry had practically collapsed anyway
Yep, mostly we're dragging things out so the Hung have a more gradual collapse and thus more likely to have SOME centers of administration survive. And also being able to grind our naval techs in live combat in a relatively low stakes war.Navy is just too damn far from resupply to make a meaningful dent in the Nohon's ability to ravage the coasts from their protected ports.
