Eh, battle wizards do seem to actually be fairly skilled with weapons?

As in, they were one of the highest end benchmarks for when we asked about sword lessons back at the magister tests.

It's useful for when people inevitably try to gank the Mage.

@BoneyM the opportunity for the horn is lost?
Maybe. We're already good enough. And- I desperately oppose Mathilde becoming a Battle Wizard! Battle Wizards basically don't get to leave their shielded College room with their armoury of Tac Nukes, except to be unleashed on the battlefield.

Magister Lord with the political connections and network to know a battle spell or two, perhaps. Note we need the rank and favours to pull that off.

I don't really know what runic abilities we can have added to a dwarven made greatsword, but I want it to cleave through plate armour like butter, tank monsterous hits, avoid (or repair) being chipped, and light enough to swing at uncanny speeds.

What effects can a magic banner have anyway?

Protective effects that extend to both the carrier and nearby allies.

[] Staff - Channel magic/ulgu
-[] 5 favours
-[] Hiden axe blade
--[] Killy

@BoneyM That works for guidelines? Too little on the staff for something good? Feasible?

That works but you'd be stretching it a little thin to split 5 favours between a channel and an axe blade.

I just want to learn battle magic.

Otherwise, our grey spells are nicer on a more individual/small scale engagement than army wide, barring shenanigans which we've been told tend to be more dangerous than battle magic.

Just write "Killy". Better than the description you voted.

Between Barak Varr's runepriests and the presence of Kragg the Grim, this is the time to commission a runic item if ever there was one. Will you?

[X] Have Ulthar handpick his best sharpshooters to be equipped with envenomed bolts.
[X] You've heard that greatswords and greataxes are very similar in the way they're used, and you happen to be surrounded by experts in the art of the axe. Learn how to use one.
[X] Have them help you teach your fast-growing familiar simple commands.
[X] Barak Varr is a trading hub; go shopping with her and employ your good name among dwarves to see if there's seeds of anything useful to be found.
[X] Thane Skaroki Grimbrow

Not much to add since the reasoning for most of these choices has come up before.

More martial since we're at war, protective talisman because it's something uniquely awesome we can get from the dwarfs, better familiar stuff + amber wizards, buy stuff + Jade wizard, meet another person of interest.

Ok the result with the horn was disappointing put oh well.

She still owns that land we just run it for her and she can decide to revoke our ownership at any time.

Violating the feudal contract like this would be the quickest and most efficient way to start a civil war, and in such a way that the Emperor would be more likely to step in to oust her instead of assisting her.

What's a good amount for the proposed item?

Or I suppose I might ask, at which point does Kragg take the commission?

Ten points is about where Kragg steps in; five on the 'staff' and five on the 'axe' would give you a decent weapon and channel.

Ouch, that horn roll was horrible.

Belegar seems like a refreshingly realistic dwarf lord.

Johann seems to check out, as far as I am concerned.

We should work on enhancing the benefits that our journeymen bring to the table.

I have no need to spend time and favour on a mere trinket, not when we already have our One Ring.

... But if we had to make an item, I have no doubt what I would want:
-[X] 18 Favours
-[X] Ring
-[X] Show them the Seed of Regrowth and the Liber Mortis, ask to have a item that can bring the dead back to life.

This is our best bet to bring Abelheim back without delving into mindbreaking necromancy! Also, let this be a reason to have the other "No" voters write in their desired items.

What are the odds we might run into Asarnil (Dragon guy, I can't remember his name.) and recruit him?
It's bigger than zero!

Yes, I still wanna kill things better. In theory, sufficient martial could've saved Van Hal.

[X] Test their skills in battle by sparring with them.
Mathilde is one of the more martial Magisters out there, might as well show them how things are done. Let's teach them how to sword things properly!

[X] Introduce him to the dwarven smiths so he can try to convince them to teach him.
Yes, we could use some of our Favours on this but I need all I can get to reach artifact necromancy it is more fitting if the apprentice himself could earn the dwarves favour.

[X] Barak Varr is a trading hub; go shopping with her and employ your good name among dwarves to see if there's seeds of anything useful to be found.
... Honestly, this is just because I want to see a girl shopping scene.
