Mithral however look far more impressive than cold iron, Mithral looks magical, cold iron just looks like normal iron, so while cold iron might be more useful, Mithral is more showy meaning it's a better prestige gift.

Viserys and Tyene can handle the impressiveness aspect, utility trumps form when it's about keeping people alive imo.

If our Baleful Polymorph really has a higher DC than Dominate Monster this item really is all kinds of useless. How on earth does a level 9 spell get beat out by level 5? I want to sacrifice it out of pure disgust now.
DC == spell level + attribute bonus. Crafted items use the minimum attribute bonus required for spell level.
Edit: So, 9th level spell requires a 19 attribute, that's a +4 bonus.
DC= 10 (base) + 9 (level) + 4 (attribute) = 23 ... iirc

I don't know why the Cold Iron daggers wouldn't look impressive? They're getting bronze inlays with First Men runes. That'll look cool as hell.

Yes but they wont look particularly magical, now Mithril looks magical, I mean really shining silver as hard as steel, that's a magic you can show off, cold irons ability to kill certain creatures aren't near so easy to demonstrate.

The best thing is that even Waymar doesn't know about the contents of the ring. Or that there's a ring at all.

@Duesal Might as well underline both that and that the daggers are Razor Sharp.

... we might institute (later) a once per month Lya fabricate day, where you bring your old iron and get new stuff made.

Which might be the point? There are laws about magical artifacts. Especially imported magical artifacts.

"That will indeed make them look like gifts fit for the nobility, but they will not look magical."

These are our "getting in the door as we are merchants" gift. Having them appear to be very high quality mundane is actually a good thing imo @tarrangar - if we show obviously magical gifts, then our cover will be weaker, these can get us in the door to talk privately, well, a prop for Lord Royce to invite us in for private talks with.

I was concerned with hiding Waymar's face without a helmet, but yeah, magicccc :D

May I suggest giving them a few weapons with Continual Flame on them or something? Cheap but flashy.
Otherwise, can we fake their ancestral blade? Take a Valyrian stell sword, cast Blood Wish to reshape it? Maybe carve their name and words on it at least if we don't want to fake their heirloom weapon in front of Waymar?

Slow down there, Satan. We don't hoodwink people who's last name isn't Lannister. Much less Waymar's family.

Obvious magic items, that are observable by staff and spies are suboptimal

I think if we use bloodwish to reforge VS we will loose hp or cha. It takes blood to reforge it, and is made from blood taken from fiends and slaves. Also, no need to be tricky or deceive the Royces or give flashy items. We can do this with sutble gifts and talking.

Would it be reasonable to have the royces visit sd under alter self items?

It would be "reasonable" once explanation of ease of transport is made clear... and they have all-but-officially declared to support Viserys as claimant to the Iron Throne.

Before then, not so much.

So, in three to six updates then?

Edit: if we get 30 minutes to two hours at any point free, I very much want to tell those two new mages about their options (basically bp to starfish).

Considering we're acting as merchants we should probably throw in the regular merchant gifts: spices, scents, dyes, fabrics, etc.

Took out the Amulet of PfE now with the intention of giving it later in the trip once the Royces have warmed up to us a bit. And also to better fit the merchant persona.

@DragonParadox @Duesal
Some errors in character sheets that I noticed earlier (already forgot some of them :oops:, but from what I remember).

Maelor has 9th level in invocations, right? He should have 5d6 base EB then. Also, he has moderate BAB progression, not poor. Should be 6 BAB, instead of 4. His base saves before modificators should be 2/2/10, not 1/1/7.

Goldfish forgot bonus point in ability scores from level 4 in Hermetia's sheet, should be 17 charisma. (Although, if she's not going to level-up anymore, 14 in intelligence would be more useful - 2 more skill points and higher bonus to knowledge skills and spellcraft).
