Wait, Lys has an Archon? Isn't that a Tyroshi fad, itself stemming from the Valyrian Freehold, likely on some sort of military basis? I doubt that Lys would have the same, as they were not founded as a military outpost, but a pleasure barge that just so happens to be stationary, a paradise or resort. An Archon is a position of singular authority, it fits Tyrosh, but Lys? Eh...

It's an artifact of trying to deny Tyrosh and Volantis that very same dignity during the Century of Blood. If everyone has an archon then the title does not mean as much prestige-wise.

[X] Plan Try Diplomacy First, now more targeted
-[X] Call out to Shara, and tell her she might as well come over. Apologize that we made her miss her opportunity to sell the information of our arrival, and pay her for the trouble.
-[X] Ask to hire Shara's services as a guide and send her with Malarys and Ser Richard to inform House Artaris that Viserys Targaryen has settled the earthquake threat and would like to treat with the city to build a temple, and are awaiting them at the tree in the gilded quarter. If at all possible, inform House Agtalos and someone in what is left of the Wine and Steel faction.
-[X] Encourage her to d her best in being quick to return with Malarys and Richard after delivering the messages, and perhaps in addition to (a very generous) payment we could discuss what other houses we might want to talk to, even ones seemingly powerless and disgraced.
-[X] After they depart, have Dany use her ideas to cast a sending to Ser Gerold telling him to contact you with the Brazier. Then inform him that he is to put what Legionnaires are battle ready on alert, and gathered near the shadow tower and to inform Teana to make preparations for the tower to teleport if need be. Have someone recontact Dany every five minutes for quick updates.
-[X] If still waiting, begin surveying the surrounding area in anticipation of trying to build an enclave or some sort of enclosure to help protect the new godswood here if all goes well. Idly play with the wayfinder and search for Illyrio.

Okay, four factions, with the Spicers on the rise, the bankers holding, and the slavers and Wine and Steel on the decline. This is actually pretty good, since the Spicers interest in far flung trade matches our own and are going through a transition, and the Wine and Steel faction will be scrambling to recover, giving us openings to influence them.

This is workable.
Hmm

This is just me spitballing, but it seems as though the best way to conquer would be to support a lesser faction, such as the bankers, and give them control of the city in return for swearing fealty and enforcing our laws (such as no slavery).

It would probably be easiest for the bankers to accept no slavery, as Braavos shows that freedmen give someone far more money than slaves.

Also @DragonParadox this update was a great one to wake up to. I really liked the small touch of the lich attempting small talk with Malarys before he died (again).

Huh. Well, I suppose that makes sense, even if the wiki lists Archon as something specific to Tyrosh in the modern era. Volantis too has the Triarchs as rulers, rather than an Archon.

Might be an Archon(Tyrosh) and archons(other Free Cities) situation, maybe?

@DragonParadox What is the house name of the banker faction leader?

For the banking faction, we can probably spin it as not wanting to allow the Iron Bank too much influence on us.

The Wine & Streel faction looks like a good target. They have a bone to pick with the others and the lack of strong leadership means we can dominate them easily.

@Diomedon, better approach the Archon. Send Malarys along.

House Artais is the Archon house, and head of the currently dominant spicer faction. I don't want to leave the tree in case someone is panicking, so we can reassure them in person that things are fine.

Missed that, but I didn't mean for Viserys to go, but to send Malarys along. He's good at these things. Maybe add Richard for protection.

I kind of want to do this again whenever we conquer future cities.

Surprise!Weirwood right in the middle of the city, prominently displayed, heralding the coming of Viserys Targaryen.

We should keep some sacrifices in reserve at all times just so we can do this again and again.

Hmmm, I'm concerned if we send Malarys and/or Richard, that will give the Archon cause to limit their movements and prevent or delay informing the other factions we want to show up.

I believe this one only grew this large because of the god merging into the olds because of It.
Not sure what a regular tier 3 tree would be like.
But We can always place It on a hill instead.

Problem is that we are otherwise sending a random sellsword.

Sending our greatest knight and our lawyer should make things run much smoother.

A regular Tier-3 Tree is still pretty big. Nowhere near as big as this one, sure, but still impressive. I just love the idea of planting a tree in a city right as we stake our claim. It's the ultimate statement of "This is mine now."

I'm all the more excited about Tyrosh and Sothoryos now. We need to stock up on as many sacrifices as we can get our hands on.

Archon: *looks out the window* a weirwood tree! Doooom doooom comes for us all! The wings of the dragon King darken the skies! Run you fools!
Servant: no no its just a regular tree on fire please cal..
*Archon jumps out of a window*
Servant: *sigh* thats the third one this month, someone get a new archon!

Bonus edit: in a hill overlooking the city
Lya: when Will we stop coming to this particular hill for our picnics, and why do you keep burning a tree after we are done?
Viserys: *puts the far-eye in its case* we stop the moment It stops being funny my love.

Fair, I suppose. Updated plan below.

Also, @Azel, achievement gained! We got Waymar to directly participate in Blood Sacrifice! :D

I think we got that with the first tree. And am more certain than not with the second. He was at Westhaven too, and the Ithilid is obviously nothing to worry about sacrificing.

He may not be a proper caster, but he has good knowledge and CL available. He's great for rituals. :D.

Edit: And we really should have an OOC llok at just what our administration has/needs before we start giving them unto the altar of Lysthesni counter-attack/attempts at suicide-via-Viserys.
