That was fixed. Earlier Tyene's poison immunity was tied to one of her Paths, so DP had an excuse to not bring poison because her immunity wasn't always active. Then @TotallyNotEvil negotiated and got perpetual poison immunity for Tyene (very recently) so now she has no excuse not to bring poisons everywhere. We should be seeing her have some fun in the near future.

Meh, poor excuse on DP's part to be honest. There was never a good reason for her not to have some well sealed vials of poison on her person. With the magic she's had available for a long time now, she doesn't even need to open the container to use it with her spells.

I'm glad that will no longer be a concern, though.

Speaking about sothoryos, dont forget that its very likely Yss is at war with the Spiders, or at least his people were.
So any Spider sacrifice to Yss will likely give extra benefits.

That doesn't make any sense, I'm afraid. Obtain Familiar wasn't a feat Viserys learned. It was a Class Feature built right into his original Sorcerer PC.

Varys is a snake, although a magical one now that she is a Familiar. You can't just undo that without consequences, as in it would kill her dead.

I get where you're coming from here, but your inexperience with D&D is showing a bit.
Ah, damn it all. There goes that idea. :( And yeah, this is pretty much my only exposure to D&D. Everything I know I've learned from you guys.

By the way, wasn't there something about Varys turning into a dragon when we turn into a dragon? That happens next level, right?

Yep. Freaking Lolth. Fiendish spiders. She's almost certainly involved.

And ASOIAF canon mentions ancient, ancient civilizations where the acolytes of a snake god and a spider god waged war against each other.

Yss vs Lolth.

And Sothoryos has a Spider God's Temple and Yss' temple & his children.

I think it's safe to say we've got this one more or less puzzled out.

Here's a page I added to the Accounting spreadsheet a long while back which has yet to see any use. It's a listing of the basic poisons included in the DMG. Tyene should be able to synthesize or source most of these, as few of them are terribly rare or exotic.

The best everyday poison for Tyene to use in conjunction with her magic, chosen from that list, would be Dark Reaver Powder. Only 30 IM per dose and any spell she added it to with the Toxic Metamagic feat would require a separate DC 18 Fortitude for the victim to avoid 2d6 points of Constitution damage. Toxic Metamagic is only a +1 level adjustment, so she could use it in conjunction with Boneshatter. That would be stupidly lethal.

There are other poisons on that list which are much costlier, but would be perfect for major engagements. Dragon Bile (which Tyene might be able to source straight from the source if Viserys is willing to help) would cost 150 IM per dose, which is undeniably expensive, but would inflict 3d6 points of Strength damage with a Fortitude DC of 26.

I don't remember reading about this, where did it happen?
It wasn't in the books, it was in A World of Ice and Fire as part of the ancient histories.
"We hear as well of the lost city Lyber, where acolytes of a spider goddess and a serpent god fought an endless, bloody war."

That screams Yss vs Lolth, and it has to be what DP based Yss off of.

It would be an interesting development if both Yss and Lolth beat each other into near death states. We found Yss and nursed him back to health. Who's to say someone didn't do the same for Lolth? She could be installed in some Underdark temple right now, surrounded by cocooned sacrifices, sucking their juices out at her leisure in order to grant Demonic boons to her new subjects.

If you wanted to do the same with Viserys, he would first need to break his Familiar bond with Varys, which I will not support at all.

Vee gave barkskin to everyone

As for the no feat/expensive ritual improved familiar, I can go with that as long as it is so expensive as to be out of the range of most people. That too is a sort of balance. Say 1000 Gold or so.
So when does Varys become a Pseudodragon?
Next level!
That makes a good bit of sense considering the timing, Custom Familiar Form for Varys when we go Full Dragon :D

She's probably stronger than Yss by now. We're discerning with what we sacrifice. The Drow have no such reservations and likely breed their sacrifices.

Not necessarily. The Underdark is absolutely lethal to low level adventurers and unprepared civilians. She might be having trouble with worshiper attrition.

I wouldn't be so sure, we've fed Yss some pretty amazing stuff, plus he has an avatar in the Material, that has to count for something.

In any case I wouldn't like to open the Pandoras' Box that is Sothoryos until after we conquer Tyrosh (well the three cities really, but I know the thread wouldn't go for that). If you guys want to poke it can we not do it the month before Tyrosh? An extended quest or timesink would be devastating.

Worshipper attrition... true. But slaves? Surely she'd be able to munch on plenty of those?

Yeah, there is that. You've got a great point there. I want to further enrich his diet with some made-to-order Tiamat Clerics while we're at it. :p

We don't want to do it now, @bigbow. We were aiming for right after Tyrosh. And this isn't something I really want to sit on top of. There are lots of things that need to wait until after we conquer the Three Daughters. Going to Sothoryos isn't one of them. The rewards in XP, loot, sacrifices, and new subjects (Yss' children) are simply too great for us to delay going there for too long.

And I really, really want to round up those spiders for sacrifice.

In addition to the other points raised, Yss not only has a powerful avatar made of likely one of the most powerful beings Alive in the world at that point, but we are feeding him so much he cant process the power faster than we give It to him. im confident in his ability to stand Up to planetos!lolth.
Edit:hell, if you are still concerned for quantity over quality, he is being fed a constant Stream of faith and animals, he has probably eaten thousandss of chickens and assorted animals by now, lets see the underdark compete with that.
Edit: why so many funny ratings? Its becuase of the chickens isnt It? Chickens are a perfectly valid sacrifice i'll have you know. The chicken god is probably wondering where the souls of his followers are all going.

The only point that could tip the balance in maybe!Lolth's favor is that Yss is, well, too fair.
He always pays back for any sacrifice, no matter how small, Lolth's biggest reward she gives her followers is probably only eating some of their children that year.

Yeah, the moment they decide to attack him with metaphysical rodents or chickens he'll fuck them up good : D

Alright, we need to make an Yss festival, lets ask about his holy day and give him a yearly free boost.
... And watch him give a city wide blessing that day... Poor Yss.

Shall we send out missionaries of Yss to all trading routes we can to establish (for now) small churches of him, which will also double as trading posts?

Finally free from work!

The day of Mantarys' liberation is when we got him an avatar. I say we throw a feast in anniversary of that day. It's about 2 months from now. We could also have it set up as sort of a corporate holiday for the Silver Serpent Enterprises.

I want hissing green streamers everywhere!

Also, can we finally get him a small temple, or altar in Braavos? Blood magic is fined there, so less chance of people sacrifice and people finding out the best out of the god of fair deals. Or we can set it up as a Silver Serpent resthouse where our sailors can relax and give thanks to the patron of the Enterprises, for a business gone well.

Haha. Viserys I Targaryen and now Viserys III Targaryen both really love throwing parties, huh?

Hey, no complaints, as long as we continue to do things like miss out on over half of it to conduct a extra-planar trade deal or an expedition on another continent, either of which makes us tens of thousands of gold to make up for the pittance in comparison we spend on making the lives of our subjects bomb as hell

Edit: On that note, it will be awesome when our reputation for throwing kickass parties ends up drawing in even more people.

Our enemies will think things like "He spends so much on frivolities, he couldn't possibly have the gold for an invasion!"

All while we use magic and HIGH ADVENTURE to fund our real projects like armies and fleets and magic items, and use our taxes and tariffs to fund our infrastructure and the occasional celebration without really feeling the expense, and avoiding things like throwing away tens of thousands of gold dragons away as tourney prizes when a couple hundred would serve just as well.
