We could just go alone with Xorn movement.

Once we captured Illyrio we can teleport out, if the Cleric wants to save his ass he's welcome to come to us.

He was alone in the room as far as we could tell and the men think that those "nasty critters" are not under control, so abduction should work.

[X] Thank the men for the help, you'll go out for a moment
-[X] Bloodwish for Xorn Movement, go straight down to Illyrio , tracking him by wayfinder.
-[X] If he's alone Polymorph him and teleport out with anything important-looking or magical in the room, if not assess situation.

We have no idea what Illyrio is using for protection. If he's willing to leave an Iron Golem patrolling on the surface, he could have other defenses about his person with similar potency. A warded hideout housing a stupidly wealthy man willing to spend his money for protection, which also houses a Cleric who has had an unknown amount of time to prepare defenses, is not a place to assault on our own.

There's also the warning of all the random monsters the Tiamat Clerics set loose.

That, too.

If someone comes up with a more viable plan, I'm all for it, but it's been a while since we've done anything remotely subtle, even if our definition of subtle involves high level magical mind control. I kinda want to see how this plays out.

Gaining earth glide for an extended period of time would be outside the range of limited wish effects. The maximum I would say is 1 round/CL, so it would be risky.

Edit: Night guys, see you in the morning with more infiltration.

Xorn Movement is a spell and it has an inbuilt safety feature.

"The xorn movement spell lasts a minimum of 1 round/level.

If the target has not emerged into a significant volume of open air (a space large enough to contain the target comfortably) for the entire duration of the spell, xorn movement remains in effect until the target does move into such as area.

In this fashion, characters who find themselves deep in the Elemental Plane of Earth can find their way to safety."

Do we have the time for another divination round? From the current situation we could really use it. If Tiamat's Clerics thought those monsters would be enough to give us pause then those are some nasty pieces of work. Also, I'm suspicious of yet another surprise!Dragon trap. I'd like to figure out all the traps in general.

It's not that we don't have time, but rather that any time we use for divination is time our enemy can be using for something else. We've also got to keep in mind that our divinations might alert them to our interest, depending on which ones we use and how much attention Tiamat is paying to them.

BTW, who all made the trip with us? Everyone but Garin and Tyene, right?

We didn't bring Xor :(

[X] Goldfish

Lya has flight as a sla so she can be super quiet.

That's fine with me. He's a gentle soul, not suited for the rigors of adventuring.

We've also begun to encounter threats, such as the enemy Cleric we are hunting, which might decide to hit Xor with a Banishment spell. Hopefully he would end up sent to Axis where Spectators normally originate, but he might be sent to the Far Realm instead, and that would suck. :(

I'd go to Axis for Xor, but far realm is another matter.

Send him to Daemon's folly in the hope of combat?

He's no powerhouse, but Xor or an Arcanum should be sent for their knowledge skills.

Edit: i'd go to Axis for the sake of it, but for Xor it would be a priority, obv :).

Lower planes > feywild > anywhere near the far-realm

Dany, Vee, Maelor, Glrya, and Aradia are all probably going to need to return soonish or they'll mess their schedules up too much, but I think they're still with us.

Plan updated slightly. Why don't we let this play out, at least until we get to John Mudd? He might lead to more options.

[X] Ask to be escorted to the serjeant. Although we cannot share the contents of the message, it is much too urgent to wait until morning. Ser Mudd will simply have to content himself with doing his duty, even in the wee hours of the night. Ask one of the men to escort you to the serjeant's location. We're willing to take whatever heat comes their way for waking him.
-[X] If pressed on the contents of the message, tell them we have been ensorcelled in some manner, so as to only reveal the information when we hear a passphrase which we don't know. Act uncomfortable with this state of affairs, and eager to pass on the message so that we can be free of the magic.
-[X] Trust Dany, Lya, and Aradia to trail us, using stealth and magic.
Goldfish, if he doesn't use something like this the ruse will be up instantly.

We can watch if wherever we emerge from the ground is under Anticipate Teleportation or any other alarm.

Some magical way of making the messenger only speak to the designated destinatary.

We are just getting one of them to lead us to Mudd so that we can learn from him if there is an alternative means to enter the "Hole", or to signal those hiding in it. Once we reach him, the ruse doesn't need to be intact for any longer than it would take to cast a spell.

It seems all he an do is call the bosses to have a passage opened.

@Goldfish @TotallyNotEvil @Artemis1992

We could ask the soldiers what other mages are here. We know about the two Essarian clerics, but Illyrio obviously has more. For example, finding out if the Blackfyre is here, finding out if Illyrio has his own pet wizards or archivists, etc. Info-gathering seems pretty vital right about now.

That seems like useful info to have. If he can send such a signal, we can find out what circumstances would be feasible for him to do so, if it's regularly scheduled, if there is an alternative means of entering the Hole, etc.

I thought it was only one?
Right, my mistake. One Essarian cleric. The point is that there are definitely more mages in Tiamat's thrall and this is a good place to get answers on them.

EDIT: Within the next few turns we should ask Malarys about the other Sleepers, the ones that we sealed away. We should find out if there are any he harbored hopes of saving, and then confirm via divinations if it'd be safe for us to free them.

-[X] Bluff the sellswords, expessing our extreme discomfort with magic and our desire to be done with this task so that we can get back to deal with normal people, not enchanters and conjurers. Ask if there are any of those types about, as you would rather avoid them if at all possible.
