Personally I'm fine with Commune, and I'm not really opposed to going right to the heart of the bilestone after a divination session. It's just that this time I'm too tired to come up with a full round of Commune questions. How about Commune?
Ask if going to the heart will cost us more than 2 days.
Ask if attacking the heart will have negative consequences for the Xorn, relative to just clearing the way.
Then some more, but these two are relevant to the decision.
Not really costly. It costs 100 XP, sure, but we get that XP right back in the subsequent fight.[X] Duesal
Commune works best with a bit more informatiin than we have atm, and is costly.
If people want divination on the other hand *shrugs*
Also, there was the assumption that Dany does not use VotD a lot, but I don't see why she wouldnt us it frequently, if much less than Viserys who is a spontenous caster
This is probably not a simple lone Beholder, this is probably an aberration organization of some kind. Make some of the questions asking about the number of foes and if they have others of their organization in other places, and a subvote to not go to the Heart if we don't like those answers. Oh, also asking if this is the Deep Ones. I want a fight, and we'll get a fight in the caravan route, but I don't want to start another war we're too stretched thin to fight.OOC: Keep in mind that if you go full out you will be likely declaring war on something where as just the caravan route is a simple manner of protecting trade, which is less likely to lead to escalation.
That's not really something I would consider. Not really costly. It costs 100 XP, sure, but we get that XP right back in the subsequent fight.
Also, @Artemis1992, looking back at DP's author's note:

I'm not worried about us dying, the challenge is CR appropriate. I'm worried about retaliation and a war which will eat into future time. Your vote currently doesn't address any of that. That's not really something I would consider.
I trust our Party to deal with whatever we find.
So all I care about here is time investment and risk to the Xorn. If those factors are fine we can march into this and try to win without further divinations.
Never ask about the odds.
[X] The caravan route itself
-[X] Dany uses the spell Divination to ask: "What type of Farspawn stalks near the bilestone that is set along the caravan route?"
I strongly prefer divination, since it's free. It makes sense to give us a general idea, which should be plenty.
I'd be fine with that. I'm actually looking forward to a fight. If we can avoid collateral damage and having to spend party member time cleaning this up I would be ecstatic.@Duesal
When I'm home I'll add a question if the things there have influence on the Material Plane.
Would that be fine?
Could you do it?I'd be fine with that. I'm actually looking forward to a fight. If we can avoid collateral damage and having to spend party member time cleaning this up I would be ecstatic.
