Flying Fox, the shamanic Batman of WW2.

The Family Dynamic, a family of supers with elemental rings. Pyralis' sister and niece are basically the Canadian Batwoman and Robin.

And in the Family Dynamic comic they were being interviewed by a mild mannered bespectacled reporter superhero- Who wasn't Clark Kent, apparently Canada has their own version of Superman who is black. Don't remember his name though.

Not sure how useful he is, but Dark Crow is kind of cool concept wise. Amerindian Mountie who can create a "familiar" out of living darkness. Basically only used in a storyline in which Eclipso possessed him and sicced him on the JL.

Oh and I'm not sure if they count, but there is also the Force clan in Canada. There's a canadian town where everyone is related to each other, and every single one of them has superpowers but Sparx is the only one who plays superhero.
Huh, thanks. Never heard of any of these guys before, besides flying fox. Usually when I try to find canadian heroes on google, i get lists of the MOST canadian heroes, such as captain canuck

The amount of rules lawyering he's doing is vexing because he simply doesn't want to admit that his method of obtaining the fruit was ultimately unnecessary and wrong in hindsight.

Why should he? "I made the correct decision based on the information I had at the time" is his argument. Nothing about his argument is incorrect. If I have a choice between spending my last dollar on either gas to get to work or a lottery ticket, and I choose to buy gas, it doesn't suddenly become the wrong decision just because my numbers would have come up.

Paul made the correct decision in stealing the fruit instead of asking for it because A) literally every single piece of evidence suggested that doing so was the only way he was going to get his hands on it B) everyone who has tried to talk to the Silver City has either failed, been ignored, or been assaulted or killed for trying C) if the answer was no (which, again, he had every reason to suspect would be the case) alerting the angels to his wishes would only make stealing it harder.

Yes, as it turned out, he could have asked and if the angel he spoke to was as reasonable as Zauriel and was willing to humour Paul's experiment he would have gotten it without stealing it. That doesn't make stealing it the wrong choice, it just means that he could have won the lottery if he had insisted on being irresponsible.

He basically forced an angel to eat the fruit to get out of apologizing too

He was asked to repent not to apologize. Repenting requires several things that Paul was, and remains, entirely incapable of doing.

Most importantly he would have to believe that what he did was wrong. Because of his specific brand of madness he is incapable of wanting a result without also wanting the steps required to enact the result. He wanted to graft Gabriel's wings onto Blaze and one of the required parts of that is feeding her the pomegranate. Therefore he cannot feel that what he did was wrong because it was required.

Now, because I'm getting tired of repeating "repenting is not the same thing as apologizing" over and over I'd really appreciate it if you could kindly quote this paragraph, or at least part of it, so that I could be assured that you're actually reading the argument and not just getting your panties in a twist because Paul is treating your religion with the same irreverence as every other religion. Seriously Christianity is not some super special unapproachable thing, it deserves exactly as much respect as any other religion. You should not be surprised or offended by an atheist calling it out on its bullshit if you weren't offended when he called out the Hellenists on their bad behaviour.

Yes, they have to fear Paul.

Well, he did figure in certain important parts of the Bible, but saints should be more revered than feared. :V

I love Paul's rationale. God is an omniscient and omnipotent being. Therefore if it didn't want me to get the fruit to use to turn a demon into a not demon he would've stopped me or replaced it.

It's funny, yes, but also a fallacy. You are not under any obligation to have tried to actively defend your property rights, to prove that they have still been violated. All you have to establish is to show that you didn't give active consent to surrender your property.

Personally I would have gone with equally funny, if even more obnoxious, "foraging in the wilderness" defence.

"What? I was taking a walk, saw a tree and picked a fruit. I didn't see any sign or a fence. "Garden" of Eden? Just a name of the wilderness area. The "guardian angel"? I thought he was just hanging around the area, too. Doing it all sneaky? No law against sneaking around in wilderness. Is the Garden of Eden even recognized as being within the borders of the Silver City, by international law?" :turian:

That's why Hades gave her an undead bodyguard. Plus, if she died, she'd be back in a couple of days. Apparently that's a big deal for monotheists.
Wouldn't that also be painting a giant "harvest rare magical ingredients here" target on her back?

Sounds like kind of a voodoo sharky way to go about it. I'll think about it.
From a story perspective having her get taken out so easily is probably the best thing that could happen since it would be the full on failure the main character needs to drive him out of the personal growth rut he's stuck in.

Not really, he just has to find another powerful magic user and pursuade them to accept some, lightly used, angel wings

@MrZoat, this is probably useful for everyone considering how old some of the links here are. (Also I mostly designed it for this thread.)

I figure it might help with the links that end up dying so if people are doing archive crawls they can not bug you that a link is dead and just see a alternative link.

(also it took me somewhere around 3 hours to get it working, so I kind of want to show it off.)

Well, pretty much all my knowledge of the Bible is second or third hand (at best) which is why I described my knowledge of it as 'tattered and flimsy'. I can very well accept that I've garbled something.

..Or I was thinking of a different if related source apparently...

She and Satanus have hated eachother's guts for millennia, but were fairly close in power. Now Satanus has a big advantage in power, which was why she was hiding in Kandaq, so that he couldn't kill her.

What makes you think Dana's character development was erased? It seems that she was left with the Legionnaires.

The way it works is:

The color of the Episode title tells you who most of the episode will focus on (White for Paragon, Red for Renegade)
The color of the Time/Date tells you who that day's update is focused on (White for Paragon, Red for Renagede, occasionally other colors for other alt-Pauls. The 3 parts focusing on the Blue Lantern/Crime Syndicate Paul had Blue Time/Dates for example).

Since this is a Renegade focused episode, these have been Paragon side supplements, like the Renegade supplements we get in Paragon focused episodes.

Why would she? In canon she was jelous for being repeatedly passed over/ignored in favor of Starfire. Being an Orange Lantern (associated on Tamerran with being responsible for the destruction of The Citadel which had enslaved her people), she's looked up to and celebrated. Plus Paul pointed out that her Orange Ring maybe able to correct her birth defect that prevents her from flying like the rest of her people (another point of Jealousy against Starfire). And as Zoat mentioned, if she is feeling ambitious, she can seek authority/high rank in the OLC instead of just on Tamerran.

meh, since there was an angel on guard duty, I'd say it wasn't abandoned, merely vacant. Adam and Eve were just tenants, not the property owners.
My main point was mostly paragon Paul usually isn't so brutal even if we all know he really doesn't mean to be so brutal.

Probably wouldn't work as well, though, seeing as the reason it worked on Blaze was because she was practically made of demonic magic that they could expunge and replace with the angelic magic in Gabriel's wings. I imagine most magic users would only be able to use it to, say, channel their own magic through, and wouldn't have the angelic magic just on call as an innate ability.

So he convinces them to purge their innate magic first. Not like he hasn't talked people into crazier shit at this point

Zoat has said that human souls absorb the mana from their environment in this story.

So a human with an angelic implant like that would get the angelic magic fed to their souls, and so, I imagine it, would eventually cause a transformation like Alan's where he was transforming into a will elemental.

ah, sorry.

He didn't come across as 'brutal' to me. Somewhat blunt, yes, and he was likely planning to be less blunt before it became obvious that a portion of the audience was vocally hostile and would continue to interrupt. Being blunt/direct can be better to convey information with fewer misunderstandings. Not always of course, if there's a way to misunderstand something, someone will do so.

Wouldn't that also be painting a giant "harvest rare magical ingredients here" target on her back?
o_O What 'ingredients' would those be? and who would be doing the harvesting?

Not really, he just has to find another powerful magic user and pursuade them to accept some, lightly used, angel wings
I'm not sure what you mean here. if Gabriel is locked away somewhere Saturnus can't get at him why would they need to give the wings to someone else? And if Saturnus is able to strike at Angelica/Blaze through the wings, then attaching them to someone else would just give Satanus a new target.

The key word here is "eventually". Blaze got it done all at once, and is already in "fine smiting form". How long would it take a regular magic user to absorb the angelic magic? Probably too long to be useful against Satanus.

Good morning, America
The show's name is "Good Morning America". Might double-check the last time you cited the name too but I think you got it right before.

Angelica? Why is it that every female that is a nun or Angel related in any way in comic books is always named Angelica almost always anyway zoat did you really have to choose and jelica as the name or is that her superhero name?
Angelica Blaze is her DC canon human-world name.

Wouldn't that also be painting a giant "harvest rare magical ingredients here" target on her back?
Someone ELSE in this fic is ALSO bearing such a sign on her back -- look at all of those angel feathers!

What ingredients exactly? Other than the fact that the oddity of the Lord of the Underworld bringing her back to life I don't think there would anything inherently more magically empowered about her than she already was as Hades' head priestess.

As far as the Gabriel in Hell thing goes, Angel magic and Hell magic are so incompatible (that was why OL needed the pomegranate after all) that dragging him to Hell may have simply destroyed the arcane connection between him and his still-angelic wings.

Angelica Blaze is the name she's been using for her persona as a nightclub owner in Metropolis.

Embattled (part 1)

"Hm." Circe looks critically at the exterior of the empty warehouse. "And you're sure that the San Francisco City zoning board won't have any objections to us having it torn down?"

"No ma'am." The helpful fellow from the estate agent -who have been trying to get this place off their books since Eldon Peck was discovered to have killed nineteen homeless people and over four hundred rats here during the seventies- shakes his head. "We checked, and they say they'll be happy just to have someone using it again. You said you wanted to build a private school here?"

"Yes. Adult education and…" She glances at me. "We'll be competing for a few government contracts as well."

Both Sam and Director Armstrong were quite interested in getting some of their own people educated in the arcane arts. Sam's enthusiasm fell off somewhat once he found out exactly how long it takes to get a person with no magic knowledge to the level of 'competent practitioner', but Katarina essentially just wants a programme for giving agents a very basic level of knowledge and Circe could teach that course in a couple of weeks. Of course, what we really need is primary education, because training archmages starts in toddlerhood… But we can move onto that after establishing a brand.

"Then it won't even need to be rezoned. We can apply for the permits you need and get a team in to start breaking ground within a week of receiving your deposit."

Circe smiles at the man. "Very efficient. Now-."

"Though.. I'm…" He looks a good deal less enthusiastic. "I'm obligated to point out that while.. we're happy to provide an indemnity against any part of the plans being inaccurate, Notus Realtors can't accept any responsibility for.. any.. magic related incidents. Now, there haven't been any since Sargon the Sorcerer took Brother Night down in the seventies, but we've got no way to know for sure that's going to keep on being the case."

Circe smiles brightly. "Oh, that's not a problem. I wouldn't be opening a magic school if I couldn't handle a few small malevolent influences, would I?"

"Ah…" The estate agent… I think he said his name was Chuck..? I wasn't really paying attention. He nods with the air of a man who knows that his quarterly bonus relies on him indulging a crazy person without skipping anything he's legally obliged to do. "I'll take your word for that, ma'am. Would you.. like to take a look inside?"

"Oh, please. Call me 'Larissa'." Circe turns her head back towards the warehouse. "If I'm going to be knocking it down anyway there doesn't really seem to be much point. Will there be any difficulty in cutting water and power to the lot when we start the building work?"

"No, though you'll probably need to improve both if you're building a school of any sort of size."

She nods. "I thought as much. I'll be hiring a firm of professional architects for the design work."

Probably-Chuck nods. "Of course. There are a few local firms our clients have worked with before, but if you've got someone… In mind? I don't know what sorts of… Special requirements a magic school would have."

"Oh... None, really. I did briefly consider including a fortified room for the more capable students, but I really don't think that sort of thing would be safe in a built up area."

"Ah… Explosives.. require specialist storage facilities and licenses. I'm not sure-."

"No no." Circe shakes her head. "For conjuring."

"Oh. Well, I don't think there are any laws about that, but I'm sure that your neighbours would appreciate it. Is there anywhere else you want to see?"

"No, thank you, I think that's everything."

He nods. "You want me to call you a cab?"

"No, thank you. I think we'll have a walk around the area, get a bit of a feel for it."

Chuck nods again, and the two of them head towards the gate. "Well, you've got my card. If you need any more information, just give me a call."

Adom and I follow on behind them, coming out to allow Chuck to lock the heavy padlock across the complex gates. This is Circe's show, of course. I'm just here to prevent awkward… How to put it? Miscommunications between the ancient sorceress and the modern world. Adom is here because he needs to get out more and meet people.

I'm using a bound illusion spell to look like a regular human. Circe's assumed a new and less recognisable face, while Adom…

We were eventually able to persuade Adom to wear civilian clothing in place of the Apokoliptian armour of my design that he's taken to wearing. His preferred civilian clothing consists of a short kilt, some jewellery and quite a lot of eye liner, a discovery which caused Sunset's cheeks to stay red for the rest of the day. Here, wearing jeans and a hoodie he looks about as comfortable as a career undertaker wearing a tutu. A combination of his height, obvious musculature and the total confidence with which he carries himself has resulted in people giving us a wide berth on our walk through the city.

"Was the site to your satisfaction?"

Circe smiles up at Adom, her current form being considerably shorter than his. "It will do. One plot of land is much like another."

"You do not need to perform divinings to locate an auspicious location?"

"Not at my power level. Maybe if I was building a home for myself or a fortress, but a school for neophytes requires far less preparation."

"And the results of the evil magician's murderous magics?"

"There's some sort of rat elemental.. thing, lurking in the ground. I'll either bind it to me or destroy it before the surveyors go in."

I raise my eyebrows. "You've decided, then."

She nods. "This was a formality, really. After finally getting Mister Constantine to agree to a residency-" I stayed well in the background during that meeting. "-I have all of the teaching staff prepared and I'm eager to start pulling my weight."

Adom's shoulders tense slightly. "I would also like to start pulling my weight. I have learned Kahndaq's history, my Arabic is flawless, and the iniquity there is far worse than it is in your country."

"Exactly. Kahndaq requires so much more work than Britain. Modern nations are far worse at coping with chaos than ancient ones, and in Britain we can leave most of the government structures in place and just change the officials. But you were pretty clear-."

"Such monsters deserve death."

"I'm not arguing the point. But are your plans fully ready?"

He exhales heavily. "They are not, as yet. Mister Luthor's spies have-."

"'Corporate intelligence.'"

"Spies have provided me with a reasonable picture of the state of my country. I wish to start using genomorphs for more aggressive information acquisition."

"Not a problem. We can transfer a lot of them over to Kahndaq operations once the British side goes operational. Though -and I do want to be clear about this-."

"I know that being too obvious puts future operations at risk. I will control my wrath."

"Control it for now. You'll have the opportunity to unleash it in full in time."

He grunts a quiet acknowledgement. "Madam C-. Madam Larissa."

"I do like the way you make it sound."

"What are your plans for the remainder of the day?"

"I'm looking at residential properties. Something a small businesswoman like 'myself' might rent or own. What about you?"

"An economics lecture. International finance and trade is considerably more complex than it once was."

"No ruler can do everything, Adom."

"The rulers of Kahndaq have not covered themselves in honour. While I am fully aware that I cannot perform all of the offices of government by myself, I need to be able to know that those who claim to serve the interests of Kahndaq are truly doing so. To do that, I must be able to understand it."

"A noble endeavour. I hope the Kahndaqis are worth it."

"If they are not, their children or grandchildren will be. If they are not, the fault is mine."

"Ooh, portentous. Grayven, what are you up to?"

"Entertaining my brother and sister in law. I think it's time I clued the Justice League in to what we're doing in Britain."
