"Seven thousand years worth of stories and three major world religions, centred around an inherently arcane location. I'd be surprised if there wasn't some-."

"That… That could cause it. But out calculations show that other possibilities are far more likely."

"Does the doorway I passed through lead to the Dreaming? Is that where the Garden actually is? There's a portal in Erebos, but I didn't have any reason to look at it."

"Possibly. Or perhaps it was brought into the world from the Dreaming. A manifestation of the idea of Eden becoming the reality of Eden."
Wait. If you extend the reasoning a bit, would this imply that belief in dieties predates their existence? Belief actually creates the gods, it doesn't just allow them to excercise their power on the mortal plane? Human belief, according to this theory, created the garden of Eden, but also the angels stationed there. Why couldn't the same happen for Mount Olympus and its residents?

Typos:

For example, I could make a.. steel sword that was far harder and more resilient that a steel sword could normally be, but it would be difficult to make one that was bendy or capable of changing colour.
"than"

"No, no. That was my original through, but… No.
"thought"

The only for Ms Blaze to do is to decide whether or not she wishes to eat the fruit."
Missing word.

I do not know enough about theurgy know how attaching wings to a humanoid body could allow them to fly, but I assume that it is an innate magic that I would need to study directly to understand.
"to know"

I think I somehow managed to miss everything involving the Legion in the first place.

All I remember is the Persuader showing up and getting choked out, then talking about Blaze and the fruit. Until this mention to Saturn-Girl, I didn't realize that OL had ever met the legion.

... did Zoat edit my memories too?

But I seem to have misplaced my delete button.
You probably past a cutoff threshold. People deleting their posts long after it was made and turning entire conversations incoherent is a problem. I've seen the fallout of that either here or on SB. I was reading some thread, and his posts were just gone, but not the people who were replying to him. And looking at his past posts he just decided to mass blank every post of his he could find across several thread in a months long time block.

That behavior really should get you banned. For your problem, just report that post and request a Mod delete it.

That's (very roughly) is how it is in the Sandman worldbuilding. Gods are born in the Dreaming, leave it when they mature to become gods, and in the end, when no one remembers them, return to the Dreaming. Faith isn't power, but gods must be remembered to exist. At least this is how I understand it is in the Sandman. Not sure how this is in Zoatverse.

There was the Axe guy, than a surprise Dorian (the alien not the fruit) in the crowd,
Durlan, not Dorian. Mistaking one for the other can cause major misunderstandings.

"I happened to mention that I ate a bunch of Dorians a while back, and some guys from the Legion who were in hearing gave me this horrified expression for some reason."

Steel does not bend well, and has a narrow range of colours."

Just as a materials note, steel actually bends really well, that is why it is used to make most springs. This is a combination of having a high yield strength, and being very resistant to fatigue. Steel is very stiff, so it does not bend easily, but that is a whole different material property.

I suspect that Sephtian is trying to say that you'd have a hard time reducing steel's stiffness, and is doing it somewhat ham-handedly. Possibly because of his lack of familiarity with metal, or because he's sleep-deprived.

What would support for a significant degree of the population believing in volunteering and altruism look like then? That's how many people have the time and energy to volunteer, add to that everyone who isn't able to volunteer for whatever reason, and the number of people who believe in volunteering or altruism would certainly grow.

A good portion of that would be volunteer firefighters and such - who get reimbursed for their trouble. Another portion would likely be unpaid interns. Another portion would be people who volunteered minimalistic hours.

I suspect that the actual number of repeat, devoted volunteers are a small percentage of that number.

Paul has an "in" with Dream - the saving of the muse should have netted him some favor at least.

Also, yeah, Sephtian should sleep before doing he operation.

I can't recall, did he check if Dream was still imprisoned?

AFAIK, he didn't, but the Plague of Ghosts did happen.

That was kicked off by Lucifer shutting down Hell and throwing out all the dead and damned, which in turn was prompted by Dream first visiting Hell to reclaim his Helm of Office and then later returning to reclaim Nada.

That all happened after Dream got free, so he should be good.

Sort of? If I remember my DC lore correctly, gods, or rather godhoods, are born of the Dreaming, the realm of, well, Dream of the Endless. Which makes sense, seeing as they're concepts taken form. So Dream is the reason gods exist, and his power is the manifestation of stories, dreams, and legends. So, essentially, yes, belief in a mythos creates that mythos, by way of Dream.

This is one of the core ideas of one of my favorite tabletop games, Mage: The Ascension, where all reality is based on the pressure of human minds shaping it into what they expect it to be, even retroactively changing history as needed to comply with new ideas. It's pretty cool stuff to explore.

So we have terms like shaman, elementalist, spiritualist, thaumaturge... what do we call a Dreaming/Dream Magic specialist?

Also could someone that knows about the Endless say a bit about how the Dreaming matters to the rest of reality outside of it's realm? All that comes to mind for me is "reality warping" in terms of how it effects stuff.

What do you mean? He learned the location of Eden the previous year from John. It was specifically mentioned. The other further research he could do would be to talk to Angela Spatchcock, and she doesn't really know that much. After he got the fruit he handed it over to Sephtian for a while. He doesn't really have the ability to research its functionality himself.
Forest for the tree's.

He researched the garden, but he didn't really do any research on the Angel's or the Silver City. And that makes his continued complete and utter disregard for any possible consequences almost nonsensical. Because that disregard would be one thing if he thought, due to said research, that the group in question either wasn't able to or wasn't going to respond. But without that, well, it just becomes completely out of character for the guy who spent months planning out in meticulous detail how too take down Nabu.
