...this might be worth trying to make an ally out of the Queen of Fables for, Grayven. If you're gonna get out of this, you're going to need powerful allies, and I imagine the Queen wouldn't like to have all stories vanish by virtue of everything equalling Darkseid.

Oh gosh, the situation is so bad that the freaking Queen of Fables is a freaking improvement aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

She's sealed and gone. You shall do what you must and Die for Darkseid.

In the Paragon timeline. She never showed up in Renegade, which means she's still available to be recruited. Trust me, I did that playthrough. I was hoping to trap Darkseid in a genie's lamp or something. Didn't quite work out that way.

Was Lynne that traumatized because of Darkseid himself or because she had Lind's Victoria read to her?

Because this was not clarified.

I figure this is a joke, but I'm pretty sure that she's terrified because she thought she would never have to deal with Anti-Life again, and then it just shows up casually, without anything anyone can do to stop it, and pays her personal attention.

That just changes the question into what was the bigger source of the Anti-Life here. Darkseid or the book.

I'm moderately surprised Grayven still thinks Darkseid is fooled by his act given Father Box's been watching him all along.
He thought that Darkseid 'appeared to be buying it' when he was near out of his mind with fear. But whether he's being fooled or not doesn't really have any bearing on Grayven's situation.
Also, the full degree of Renegade's screw-up here:
He's actively drawn Darkseid's full attention to the Earth, or at least guaranteed it.
Not really. He sent Kanto here during the Renaissance and already knew that Scott and Barda were here. He already knows about Earth.
He's given Darkseid an intimate view into the workings of the Justice League, Earth society, and his own efforts.
He has essentially no relevant secrets from Darkseid.
True.
Darkseid arguably owns his soul. Literally.
Might be true, probably isn't.
Darkseid just heavily implied that he's expecting him to actually conquer the earth, and will be keeping a close eye on him in future.
He also said that he doesn't mind him being sneaky about it.
One of his most potent assets just turned out to be Darkseid's watchdog all along, and is basically bonded to him at the hip so he can't even quietly ditch it.

In other words, someone dun goofed. If he can't figure out a way to deal with Father Box, anything but a fate worth than death seems like a non-starter.
Good thing he's got a head start there.
Not to mention giving Darkseid information on how to make an unending line of Kryptonian super soldiers.
A few months ago Darkseid dropped a walking sun on Grayven as a test. If Kryptonians can be cloned using Earth technology you can be sure that they can with Apokoliptian technology. Darkseid is not short of super weapons or super soldiers.
.....So yeah, the places my mind went. lol. :)
I probably won't steal that.
Actually, @Mr Zoat I am curious...

How long have you had this scene planned?
In general terms? A couple of years.

Spaghetti posting!

The thing I love about this chapter is that Darkseid is still a better dad than Superman. He compliments Grayven on his skills (in infiltration and subversion, admittedly, but important skills in the pretending-to-be-a-supervillain line of work) and highlights the bits he thought were especially good, inquires after his girlfriend, makes it clear that it's important to him that Grayven is able to stand on his own two feet... whereas the Big Blue Boy Scout barely even acknowledges that Superboy even exists.

I mean, wow.

What head start does he have on an alternative to the Father Box?
Also, would having the Father box open a tube to New Genesis be allowed?
Like parley with whoever makes them there for some motherboxes in exchange for his father box/info on his father box? You would think the New Goding humans would be of interest there, what with the Forever People coming from Earth.

Grayven has given Darkseid the greatest Father's Day gift ever, a son he can be proud of, also a full fledged course on the joys of trolling.

Darksied personally recognizes that this is the best moment to troll Grayven. I would not call the breakup trivial.
I would call it "Deliberately Engineered by Darkseid in order to 'HALP' Grayven by teaching him that Life=Pain, thus making him better."

It pisses me off that the only way for Grayven to "beat" Darkseid in this case would be to get back together with Jade, thus doing what Darkseid couldn't and circumventing his "lesson plan" with directly and blatantly opposing his will.

Fuck teh man.

But I think the rewritten version only applies to Debate, where I don't have to care.

Barda has one, but my comment related to the 'fate worse than death' bit.

If he were suicidally inclined, certainly.

He has a slight credibility problem there.

Gotta love how enlightenment has seemingly been made so cheap that people are assuming that merely feeling a strong emotion is enough to gain it.

Pretty sure that people get confused by the color text and it was only a few people. Don't get why people would assume that enlightenment is cheap considering that very few people have it and getting it requires very unique events for people.
