... was this an unasked for "Well done, son guy" moment? Grayven gets an attaboy? And Lynne doesn't seem to like Grandpa.

Darkseid mostly just has joker immunity going for him.

Superman and Martian Manhunter have both killed him in the comics, and there are entire planets worth of beings with the exact same powers flying around the DC universe

And say let's ignore the 12 year old girl that killed him Legion of superheroes, since she apparently decided to live in the Image universe instead.

That still leaves Batman shooting him with a regular old gun armed with a radion bullet, and it left Darkseid bleeding like a stuck pig.

And the Atom killing him with the power of being small.

The problem is keeping him dead, since he tends to come back.

Heck, in the New God stealth sequel- Captain Victory and the Galaxy Rangers, Orion's son is literally haunted by the ghost of his evil grandfather- "Black Mass of the planet Hellikost," who is totally Darkseid with the filing numbers rubbed out so please don't sue us DC comics.

Two power rings (both perfectly suited for a situation where he desperately needs to protect his family) Garrick formula and the sword of the second and third. Problem solved in 0.35 seconds. (He is still carrying the Sword, right?)
Darkseid already put Lynne down, so the hostage-issue is partially resolved.

Darkseid isn't actually that great, especially on earth-16. He's basically superman with mind-control and slightly more dangerous laser-eyes.
His greatest strength is his massive amount of minions and planetary resources. Both of which he left behind to come here. (hopefully)

Biggest problem I can see is A: the Anti-life suckerpunch that Grayven just ate, and potentially Fatherbox trying to hold him back.

If Grayven can shake off the first and power through the second, he can probably decapitate his "father" before he can react.
Darkseid isn't flash-level fast. His eye-beams might be, but his actual reactions and perception is probably not fast enough to stop Grayven Zan-Datsu'ing him with an instant-death-sword.

Failing that, we all know Grayven has at least one Radion Blaster in subspace. Though if it comes to an actual battle, Lynne is in danger.

Well, yeah, Life=pain, inasmuch as you have to be alive to be able to experience pain. So more of a Life~=Pain Then again, pain!=suffering.

We discussed this in an earlier thread. You used to be able to glitch your way out of this encounter by destroying every couch in your home base, since the game spawned him directly onto the couch object in your base with the highest comfort rating.

It seems they've finally patched that exploit out.

I suspect if you remove all the furniture that it's possible to sit on from your base, he just brings his own throne or something.

Really? When I tried, he ended up spawning on the... err.. throne in the... you know.bathroom: During a shower.

No, even Grayven didn't think that taking a god-killer sword to proposes to his girlfriend was a romantic thing to do.

Because there's... So much data on... Darkseid 16.

Yeahhh picking a fight with Darkseid while he's holding your daughter and his every word induces crippling fear with a side order of background mind-rape invisitext seems like an excellent way to die messily.

I'm moderately surprised Grayven still thinks Darkseid is fooled by his act given Father Box's been watching him all along.

Stray comment: This update could be summarized as "Renegade realizes he's not playing as Shepard at all- he's playing as the Illusive Man and the indoctrination's just kicked in."

Also, the full degree of Renegade's screw-up here:
He's actively drawn Darkseid's full attention to the Earth, or at least guaranteed it.
He's given Darkseid an intimate view into the workings of the Justice League, Earth society, and his own efforts.
He has essentially no relevant secrets from Darkseid.
Darkseid arguably owns his soul. Literally.
Darkseid just heavily implied that he's expecting him to actually conquer the earth, and will be keeping a close eye on him in future.
One of his most potent assets just turned out to be Darkseid's watchdog all along, and is basically bonded to him at the hip so he can't even quietly ditch it.

In other words, someone dun goofed. If he can't figure out a way to deal with Father Box, anything but a fate worth than death seems like a non-starter.

Not to mention giving Darkseid information on how to make an unending line of Kryptonian super soldiers.

Because there's... So much data on... Darkseid 16.
I think they're conflating Darkseid-16 (on which there is a grand total of one scene's worth of information that I'm aware of, amounting to perhaps a minute of total footage) with DCAU Darkseid, who as presented in multiple appearances is basically Machiavellian Unfettered Superman with angle-variable laser eyes.

I checked his wiki-powers from the Prime-earth (which is 52, not earth prime?)
Incredible strength, incredible durability. Neither of which would really help.
Plus Omega-beams, which are legitimately dangerous. Hence alpha-striking him before he can use them.

Notable is that it doesn't mention that he has superspeed.
If this version does, it's probably only in the same way that earth-16 superman does.
Not on a level that can compare to a real speedster. Which Grayven can briefly become if he uses the Garrick formula.

His "New earth" powerset (pre 52) claims he can do fucking anything from at-will time-travel to reading the minds of everyone in the entire universe simultaneously.
Then again, superman's "new earth" page also stupidly overbloated, and earth-16 cuts that shit down to something less retarded, so I'm assuming it does the same to Darkseid.

TLDR: Unless he's immune to the Sword, or a flash level speedster, it shouldn't make much difference what his powers are.
If it worked on Klarion, The First, and Mordru, then it'll probably work on him.

Lightspeed attacks with an instant-death sword are pretty fucking hard to beat. Who knew?

Assuming Grayven can shake off this anti-life fuckery while he's still reeling from getting dumped, of course.
If Grayven isn't in any state to fight, then the whole point is moot.

edit: Missed the part where you said he's not carrying the sword.

That's a bit of a problem.

Clearly there is only one option here if Grayven doesn't want to get metaphorically fucked by Darkseid.

First, as you said he needs to figure out a way to deal with Father Box or any plan is doomed to failure because Darkseid would know.

After that's done he needs to figure out interdimensional travel ASAP.

Lastly he needs to grab Lynne, Sunset Shimmer, Misa, and anyone else he cares to bring then HAUL ASS to Earth 50. An Earth conveniently lacking a Darkseid thanks to Superman.

I'm sure Scott 50 and Barda 50 wouldn't mind the houseguests given the circumstances. Plus there'd be more opportunities to troll Kara!

So people keep assuming that Father Box is reporting directly to Darkseid, and while that is possible, isn't also entirely possible that Vandal Savage just missed a check-in, which pissed Darkseid off and he came to see what happened and that's when he found out?

Man, when it rains it pours. Most of your work buddies think you are an ass, your girlfriend dumped you and there is an evil good on your cou-wait what.

OK, Grayven, ol' buddy, ol' pal. I have a way for you to get out of this hole.

Step 1: Establish yourself as primo villain of Earth. Check, you have done this.
Step 2: Have suitably loyal minion consolidate powerbase. Lex is doing this, good enough if you're careful.
Step 3: Okay so you'll need to go grab more allies that aren't wet tissue paper. Tamaran sounds good.
...
Step 501: Right so now that you have Earth-50's new Justice League on call for a few favours you need to-
...
Step 1023: Forge that Ring baby!
???
I'll never forgive you for making my DAUGHTER CRY!"

Ancient Proverb says: Rock monster must defeat rock monster...

Edit: Goddamnit! Why do I keep thinking Earth-12 is the DCAU...

I've actually been thinking about that lately, although in a different context.

New God technology has been shown to be vulnerable to the following in the comics-

Technopathy- The Cyborg Superman got a good headstart on conquering Apokalips by taking over its technology until he got omega beamed.

Computer viruses- Killg%re was able to take over New Genesis's technology.

Nanites- Apokalips had to be saved from Brother Eye by the Pied Piper using the anti-life equation once.

Of course, finding such a solution without Father Box noticing would be challenging.

Again, it's a real pity that he let Gonzo get blown up, Grayven could have salvaged the parts to make his own father box from his innards.

Reminder, one should not read Zoat's fics while sick, I had the craziest dream about Renegade yesterday.

I can barely remember it, but something about Grayven starts to leave and walks out, only to pause as he thinks that something is up with Jade. He then heads back inside and confronts her, thinking that it isn't Jade that was talking to him the whole time, but someone else in disguise.

Then, it is revealed that Lex/Ra's/Savage/Darkseid had done something to Jade ahead of time, either changing her memories, turning her evil, etc. All for the convoluted plot of breaking Grayven.

It was crazy, I had a whole episode playing out, with Grayven on the hunt for whoever did it, and figuring out a way to get her back to normal. Plots keep getting twisted, with friends turning out to be enemies, and the truth never being what it seemed.

WIth a possible conclusion of Jade's loving relationship being false, a telepath having partitioned her mind into two personalities, one loving, and the other her normal self. A climactic battle of the minds occur between the two Jades, until only one is left. When the battle is over, Grayven goes to hug her, but it turns out that evil!Jade was the one to live, and tries to kill Grayven with a Radion/Magic weapon. Forcing Grayven to have to kill her, and then start crying.

.....So yeah, the places my mind went. lol. :)

It going to be weird when season 3 comes out if Darkseid gets beaten by the Young Justice team basically punching him in the face a lot.

Zoat looks at his chapter containing an intimidating embodiment of Tyranny Darkseid. Turns to stare at his television displaying Young Justice Darkseid go flying through several buildings as both Superman and Superboy tag team him. Then Robin appears and sprays some sort of sticky material temporarily blinding him setting him up for more follow up punches from Superboy.

"God dammit."

Radion. Radon is good for giving people lung cancer.

And I have to say if you ever got up to writing that up I think that would make quite the omake.

And my sympathies on being sick, I'm recovering from the flu over here myself.
